Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of the tahfidz Al-Qur'an program at SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Kautsar Kartasura Special Program and identify the obstacles faced in the implementation process. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research informant is a tahfidz teacher who is directly involved in the implementation of the program. Data collection is done through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, while the validity of data is tested through triangulation techniques. The research results show that tahfidz activities are carried out in a structured manner through independent memorization, muraja'ah, and memorization deposit to the supervising teacher with a schedule of four times per week for 90 minutes each meeting. The school targets the achievement of six juz memorization for three years of study. Memorization evaluation is carried out through monitoring books and tahfidz exams equipped with certain assessment systems. In its implementation, this program faces several obstacles, including differences in students' basic abilities, lack of muraja'ah consistency, time constraints between tahfidz and academic activities, and variations in student learning motivation. In general, the tahfidz program has gone well and contributed to the improvement of students' Al-Qur'an memorization skills

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Islamic psychology in the formation of student morals and discipline at RUSHD Sragen Superior High School, especially in the dormitory environment. In the era of globalization, character education is an important aspect in facing increasingly complex moral and discipline challenges among students. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that the application of Islamic psychology through habituation, example, and moral education based on religious values is able to increase student discipline, responsibility, and independence. Habituation of worship, the implementation of daily responsibilities, and the consistent application of rules have proven to be effective in shaping the character of students. This research also reveals the importance of the role of dormitory coaches, teachers, and parental involvement in supporting the development of students' morals and discipline. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of Islamic psychology in dormitory-based character education, especially in the formation of morals and discipline, which was still limited to being discussed in previous research. This research contributes to the development of character education programs based on Islamic psychology, especially in dormitory-based educational institutions.

Abstract

The Mongol expansion in the thirteenth century, culminating in the fall of Baghdad in 1258 under Hulagu Khan, is often associated with the destruction of Islamic intellectual institutions. However, developments during the Ilkhanid period in Persia (1256–1335) reveal a more complex process in which Islamic education was reorganized rather than eliminated. This study examines how Islamic educational institutions adapted and sustained their authority under Mongol rule by analyzing patterns of institutional reconstruction, scholarly agency, and curriculum continuity. Using a narrative literature review approach, this research synthesizes historical and sociological studies, organizing them around themes of political transformation, madrasa development, and cultural capital reproduction. The findings show that although early conquests dismantled major centers such as Bayt al-Hikmah, later Ilkhanid patronage especially after the Islamization of Mongol rulers encouraged the reestablishment of madrasas, strengthened waqf-based funding, and supported scientific inquiry. Figures such as Nasir al-Din al-Tusi illustrate how ulama negotiated political authority while maintaining intellectual production. Drawing on Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of cultural capital, this study argues that madrasas functioned as sites of cultural reproduction, ensuring epistemic continuity amid political rupture.

Abstract

The central issue examined in this study is the decline in students' character, reflected in the weakening of moral standards, religious values, and social responsibility. This condition demands an educational approach that not only emphasizes cognitive development but also addresses affective and behavioral aspects. This study aims to describe the efforts to internalize the values of Islamic Religious Education (IRE), the implementation of religious culture, and the synergy between the two as a strategy to revitalize character education at MTs Nurul Islam Musuk. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that: (1) the internalization of IRE values is conducted through the integration of values in learning, encompassing moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action; (2) the implementation of religious culture through activities such as Qur'an recitation, congregational prayers, and teacher role modeling creates a supportive school environment for character formation; and (3) the synergy between IRE learning and religious culture is realized through the integration of theoretical instruction in the classroom with real-life practices in the school environment that are persuasive and humanistic. This synergy has proven effective in revitalizing character education, as Islamic values are not only understood conceptually but are also internalized and practiced in students' daily lives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of the transnational Islamic movement and Muhammadiyah's response to its development in Indonesia. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, and data collection techniques were conducted through literature studies, interviews, and documentation. Primary data were obtained through interviews with informants selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the study indicate that the development of the transnational Islamic movement in Indonesia is influenced by globalization, digital media, and ideological networks from the Middle East that enter through various channels. This phenomenon has given rise to various responses in society and has the potential to cause social friction if not understood contextually. In this regard, Muhammadiyah, as a moderate Islamic organization, responds through a progressive Islamic approach based on the principle of wasathiyah (religious moderation), emphasizing tolerance, inclusiveness, and strengthening religious and digital literacy. Thus, Muhammadiyah plays a role as a social agent in maintaining a balance between Islamic and Indonesian values amidst the currents of globalization.

Abstract

The development of globalization and digital technology brings new challenges in the formation of students' character, especially in the aspects of discipline and social solidarity. This requires schools to present character education strategies that are able to provide direct social experiences to students. This study aims to analyze the role of Hizbul Wathan extracurricular activities in improving student discipline and solidarity at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Karanganyar. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data were obtained through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies with informant 1 Hizbul Wathan mentor who actively participated in the activity. The results showed that Hizbul Wathan activities were able to shape student discipline through routine habits such as timely roll calls, neat attributes, and compliance with activity rules. In addition, the implementation of the team system and the learning by doing method were able to increase solidarity, cooperation, empathy, and a sense of responsibility among students through direct experience in group activities. This study also found that the success of internalizing character values was influenced by the mentor's role model, consistency of habits, and active involvement of students in activities. Despite the obstacles in the form of the influence of digital technology, low initial awareness of students, and limited time for extracurricular activities, overall Hizbul Wathan has proven to be effective as a character education medium in forming students who are disciplined, independent, and have a high level of social awareness.

Abstract

Student discipline and religiosity in vocational schools often remain fragmented, as rule enforcement is not always integrated with internal value formation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of situational leadership by the school principal in strengthening students’ discipline and religious character at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Andong. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a phenomenological perspective. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students selected purposively. The findings reveal that the principal applies situational leadership adaptively by adjusting leadership styles, namely directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating, based on students’ readiness levels. The strengthening of discipline and religiosity is implemented through four main strategies: role modeling, habituation, educational approaches, and continuous evaluation. These strategies effectively transform external compliance into students’ internal awareness, leading to sustainable discipline and religious character. The study concludes that situational leadership based on religious values is effective in integrating discipline and religiosity into a unified character-building framework. This research provides a conceptual model of value-based situational leadership, derived from empirical analysis, that emphasizes the integration of adaptive leadership and internalization of religious values in shaping student character.
