Abstract

This study explores the personal journey of an Indonesia student, pseudonymously named Arka, as he developed English-speaking competence through a combination of environmental immersion, emotional resilience, and strategic learning behaviors. Using a narrative inquiry approach and grounded in Oxfords (1990) language learning strategy framework, this research highlights how Arka evolved from a disinterested English learner in junior high school to a confident, fluent speaker and top graduate in English Education. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, document analysis, and peer verification to ensure validity. The findings reveal that Arkas language development was shaped by a dynamic use of direct and indirect learning strategies, including memory, cognitive, compensation, metacognitive, affective, and social strategies. his experience underscores the critical role of learning environments, personal motivation, and emotional regulation in mastering English-speaking skills. This research offers practical insights for language teachers, learners, and researchers by demonstrating how individual experiences and self-directed strategy use can bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real-world communicative competence.

Abstract

While studies on identity construction and classroom participation among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners are abundant, limited attention has been given to how students with hearing impairments experience these processes within religious educational contexts. Addressing this gap, the study explored how an Indonesian female EFL student with a hearing impairment constructed her identity and participated in classroom learning in an Islamic-based school. Drawing on data from in-depth semi-structed interviews, the study employed Braun and Clarks (2006) thematic analysis to interpret the participants lived experiences. The finding reveal that the participants identity developed through a series of stages: the orientation, the adjustment, the difficulty, the settlement, and identity development. Her identity construction was shaped by emotional resilience, religious values, and strong support from family, peers, and teachers. In parallel, her classroom participation evolved from passive observation to active involvement through adaptive strategies, such as preparing questions and engaging in peer interaction. This study illustrated how identity construction and classroom participation are intertwined, particularly for students with disabilities navigating inclusive learning environments. It also underscored the importance of culturally and religiously responsive support systems in fostering self-growth and academic among marginalized learners.

Abstract

This study aims to produce an Environmental-Based Chemistry Practicum Assessment Instrument for Reaction Rate Material for 11th Grade of MA/ SMA. The development model used in this research is the development model according to Borg and Gall which consists of 4 stages: Potential and Problems, Gathering Information, Product Design, and Design Validation. The development in this study refers to the product produced in the form of an assessment instrument. which is measured until the validity of the expert where the validity aspects are based on the results of the experts' assessment validation questionnaire. The aspects assessed in the product of the environmental-based practicum performance instrument assessment instrument are the feasibility of instructions, content feasibility and language feasibility. The assessment instrument in this content aspect is arranged sequentially according to the practicum procedure. Based on the results of validation by validators, the linguistic aspect obtained a score with a percentage of 93%, then the linguistic aspect is divided into several assessment criteria, including the use of language in accordance with EYD, clarity of instructions and directions and the language used is straightforward and easy to understand Based on the results of validation by validators, the linguistic aspect obtained a score with a percentage of 91%. The validity level of the chemistry practicum performance assessment instrument measured practicum performance in the form of scores 1-4. Determination of the validity of the practicum performance assessment instrument is done by calculating the score given by the validator and analyzing the validator's suggestions and input on the instrument product assessment questionnaire sheet in the form of a check list. The results concluded that the student practicum performance assessment instrument was feasible to use.

Abstract

The highest production (catching) of tuna reached 32.22% per year but the selling price of fish was very low, while the fish processing business was only in the form of wooden fish (keumamah) and smoking due to low mastery of technology and absorption of innovation. The business of processing tuna into shredded fish and fish crackers has never been carried out by the coastal fishing communities of Aceh, even though this business has the potential to be developed on a household scale. The service activity aims to provide training on processing tuna into shredded fish and fish crackers for fishing communities in coastal areas in the category of poor families. The method used is the survey method and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Demonstrations of processing tuna into shredded fish and fish crackers can open up insights and business opportunities for housewives and young fishermen in creating added value and profit for traditional fishing households as well as improving production management and marketing of competitively processed fish. This activity can foster an entrepreneurial spirit among coastal fishing communities to increase fishermen's household income.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to address the financial management challenges faced by grocery stores in Rajabasa, Bandar Lampung, due to business competition and limited financial literacy. It focuses on developing an Excel-based financial reporting application that is user-friendly for store owners without accounting backgrounds. The study also includes training and assistance to enable independent and sustainable usage. Methodology: From a population of 278 grocery stores, 74 were selected using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. One store was chosen for a case study. A mixed-method approach was used, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques such as documentation, questionnaires, interviews, observation, and focus group discussions. The application features automated modules for journals, ledgers, financial statements, and inventory reports. Results: All respondents (100%) still used manual bookkeeping, citing limited technological skills, fear of errors, and difficulty in profit tracking. The Excel-based application simplified transaction recording and report generation, increased accuracy, and enhanced financial insight. Training and mentoring significantly improved users’ ability to operate the system independently. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that a simple, Excel-based financial reporting application can improve financial management in traditional grocery stores. It presents a scalable, low-cost model for enhancing financial literacy and operational efficiency among MSMEs in underserved areas. Limitations: This research was limited to a single grocery store and has not been tested on other types of MSMEs. Contributions: The study offers a practical solution for small business financial management and supports the digital literacy of MSME owners.
