Abstract

This research is based on the issue of soil landslide in the embankment area of Cidahu - Cieurih Road. Geotechnical analysis involves cone penetration testing, boreholes, and laboratory testing to obtain soil property data. The results indicate the presence of soil layers with different characteristics, such as clay, sand, and silty clay. The analysis method utilizes PLAXIS 3D V20 for slope stability modeling. The modeling results show that the existing slope condition is unsafe, and two alternative treatments are proposed. Alternative 1 involves replacing the existing retaining wall with a new one and adding ribs, resulting in an SF of 1.516. Alternative 2 involves using the existing sheet pile with the addition of a retaining wall and embankment, resulting in an SF of 1.63. This research concludes that Alternative 2, utilizing the existing sheet pile and retaining wall, provides better slope stability results with an SF that meets safety standards.

Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to enhance early detection of growth disorders in toddlers and maternal health at eight community health posts (Posyandu) in Kawalu District. The topic was selected based on the high prevalence of stunting and the need for monitoring maternal health in the area. Methods included interactive health education, anthropometric measurements (height and weight of toddlers) according to WHO standards, and health assessments of pregnant women. Of the 83 toddlers measured, 27.7% were classified as normal, 48.2% as stunted, and 24.1% as severely stunted. These findings indicate a persistently high burden of chronic malnutrition. Among pregnant women, most reported dizziness, nausea, and vomiting; while the majority regularly consumed iron tablets (Fe), tetanus toxoid (TT) immunization coverage remained low. The results of this service underscore the importance of ongoing education, growth monitoring, and improved antenatal services to reduce stunting prevalence and enhance maternal health.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Chinese mail-order brides in Indonesia gained prominence in the 1980s and resurfaced in 2017, particularly affecting regions like West Kalimantan. This research aims to examine Indonesia’s diplomatic strategies in addressing Chinese mail-order brides as human trafficking cases (TPPO) from 2018 to 2021, focusing on engagements between the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Government. Theoretical frameworks of diplomacy, humanitarian diplomacy, and human security provide the analytical lens for this study. The study employs a qualitative research method, leveraging a comprehensive literature review of official documents, academic sources, and credible news articles. The research findings reveal that poverty, limited education, parental influence, and scarce employment opportunities contribute to the prevalence of mail-order brides. Additionally, cultural perceptions and aspirations for an improved life exacerbate the issue. The Indonesian government, through bilateral diplomacy, has made significant efforts, such as negotiating victim repatriation and enhancing law enforcement collaborations with China. Notable successes include framing mail-order bride cases as TPPO, which facilitated victim repatriation. NGOs like the Indonesian Migrant Workers' Union (SBMI) have played essential roles in advocacy and preventive measures. Despite these efforts, challenges remain, such as differing cultural perspectives between Indonesia and China and regulatory inconsistencies. Governmental complicity and inadequate documentation have further complicated diplomatic resolutions. The research highlights that Indonesia’s strategic reframing of mail-order bride cases as human trafficking crimes enhances international cooperation and offers policy innovation for addressing human rights violations.

Abstract

Abstract

Sustainable development in an area often causes land use changes that have a domino impact, especially in water resource management and flood discharge control. In the spirit of development, important aspects such as runoff management are often overlooked. This study aims to analyze the management of runoff water in the Widyatama campus area by referring to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 26 of 2007 concerning Spatial Planning. The research method uses secondary data in the form of rainfall from the Bandung Climatology Station and manual surveys for land use and topographic analysis. The results showed that the intensity of rain at the 2-year recurrence period (I2) was 127.56 mm. Rainfall intensity is also calculated for 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, and 100 year recurrences. Based on this analysis, land modification or innovation is needed, one of which is the construction of a detention pond that functions to restore the amount of flow to the river according to the zero run-off concept. With a study area of 3.61 Ha, a detention pond is needed for rainfall over 5 years with a storage capacity of 240 m³. The implementation of this innovation is expected to reduce flood risk and improve water management in the study area.

Abstract

This research examines Indonesia's maritime diplomacy during the administration of President Joko Widodo (2014–2024) within the framework of the Global Maritime Fulcrum (GMF) vision. The research aims to analyze how Indonesia leveraged its maritime diplomacy to project its strategic identity and address challenges such as illegal fishing, maritime boundary disputes, and regional cooperation. Using qualitative analysis of policy documents, official speeches, and multilateral engagements, the study identifies Indonesia's adoption of cooperative, persuasive, and coercive approaches to maritime diplomacy. Results reveal significant progress in fostering regional maritime cooperation, reducing illegal fishing activities, and promoting Indonesia's Indo-Pacific outlook. However, challenges such as implementation gaps, sovereignty disputes, and navigating major power competition persist. The study concludes that sustained maritime diplomacy is critical for Indonesia to realize its full status as a Global Maritime Fulcrum. It also suggests further enhancements in institutional coordination, resource allocation, and international partnerships to solidify its maritime leadership.

Abstract

An experiment to evaluate the growth and yield of two sweetpotato clones in intercropping with maize was conducted in IPB experimental farm in Sawah Baru from December 2004 to April 2005. In intercropping, the two sweetpotato clones of CIP-1 and CIP-6 were planted among to maize rows.  Planting space of sweet potato was 100 cm x 25 cm and maize was 100 cm x 12.5 cm in a plot size of 3 m x 3 m. Besides, the two crops were also planted in monoculture. The experiment was designed as a Randomized Block Design (RBD) and replicated three times. Dry matter of stem, leaves, and roots of the two sweet potato clones in intercropping were lower than in monoculture.  The same response occurred for yield of storage root.  The storage root weight of sweet potato clone, respectively, in monoculture and intercropping was 1.350 and 2.533 kg plot-1 of CIP-1 and 3.167 and 11.083 kg plot-1 of CIP-6.  On the other hand, there was no significance difference in growth and yield of maize in monoculture (3.35 kg plot-1) and intercropping (3.13 kg plot-1).  Land equivalent ratio of the intercropping maize with CIP-1 and CIP-6 were 1.7 and 1.4, respectively.  It means that land productivity can be increased by those intercropping.   Key words: Sweet potato clones, intercropping, maize
