Abstract

The purpose of this study is to conduct an in-depth examination of the personality competence of Arabic language teachers based on the principles of Islamic educational philosophy. This research employs a qualitative approach with a literature study method to analyze the personality competence of Arabic language teachers from the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy. Primary and secondary data were collected from classical and modern literature, including the works of al-Ghazali and policy documents. Data collection techniques involved document review and evaluation of sources based on their credibility and relevance. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive-analytical content analysis to interpret meanings and patterns within the texts, resulting in a profound philosophical understanding of the personality competence of Arabic language teachers. The findings indicate that Islamic educational philosophy positions Arabic language teachers as moral exemplars and spiritual guides. Personality competence encompasses tauhid (the oneness of God), moral integrity, emotional balance, professionalism, cultural wisdom, and commitment to spiritual development. By integrating Qur’anic values and language skills, teachers play a strategic role in shaping students’ faith, morality, and competencies, thereby making education holistic, relevant, and beneficial for the welfare of the community. These findings affirm that Arabic language teachers must develop personality competencies including tauhid, moral integrity, emotional balance, professionalism, cultural wisdom, and spiritual commitment. This is essential to realizing Arabic language learning that is holistic, meaningful, and aligned with the values of Islamic educational philosophy for the betterment of society.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the vital role of logic in philosophical studies, particularly in understanding the nature of knowledge, the structure of truth, and its function within the contexts of life and education. The method used is a qualitative method employing a library research approach and descriptive-philosophical analysis to examine literature related to epistemology and logic. The results indicate that knowledge is the product of rational human activity, categorized into empirical, rational, intuitive, and scientific types. Structurally, logic serves as a primary tool to maintain the consistency and validity of reasoning that connects the knowing subject with the known object. Furthermore, theories of truth such as correspondence, coherence, and pragmatic theories serve as essential foundations for rationally assessing truth. The implications of this study emphasize that knowledge possesses a strategic function in underpinning decision-making and shaping critical, logical, and systematic mindsets in education.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the forms of innovative practices implemented by Arabic language teachers in the learning process at Islamic Senior High Schools (MA); to examine the factors that encourage teachers to develop creative learning; to analyze the strategies used by teachers to integrate methods, media, and technology in creating creative learning; to explore the challenges faced by Arabic teachers in applying innovative practices; and to understand how they overcome these challenges in MA. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach to provide an in-depth depiction of the innovative practices of Arabic language teachers in MA. Primary data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation, while secondary data were collected from lesson plans (RPP), modules, and school policies. Data collection techniques included observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The interactive Miles and Huberman analysis model was used, through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation to ensure valid and comprehensive findings. The results indicate that innovation among Arabic language teachers in MA emerges from their ability to combine interactive methods, creative media, and digital technology to create communicative and contextual learning. These innovations are driven by professional motivation, students’ learning needs, 21st-century curriculum demands, and technological developments. Challenges such as low digital literacy, limited facilities, low student motivation, and administrative workload are addressed through professional training, collaboration, the use of alternative media, and the creation of supportive learning environments. Teachers play a key role as agents of instructional change.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the layers of meaning in the poem “Kepada Noor” by Moch. Syarip Hidayat through a semantic perspective. Specifically, this research seeks to address how lexica/denotativel, connotative, and metaphorical meanings are constructed within the linguistic structure of the poem to understand the poet's linguistic strategies in expressing his inner experiences. The method employed in this research is descriptive qualitative. The approach utilized is semantic analysis, which scrutinizes linguistic units ranging from words and phrases to sentences. The analysis is conducted by identifying lexical and grammatical meanings as a foundation, which is then expanded to the analysis of connotative meanings, conceptual metaphors, and semantic coherence between stanzas to uncover deeper figurative meanings. The results conclude that the poem “Kepada Noor”: constructs meaning through the utilization of simple diction laden with natural symbolism, such as the metaphors of birds and nests, as well as the personification of the concept of longing. The research finds that the meaning within this poem is a conceptualization of emotional and spiritual experiences, where the repetition of sounds and words serves to reinforce the intensity of longing. Thus, the semantic approach proves effective in revealing the psychological and aesthetic dimensions of meaning hidden behind the structural text of this poem.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth description and mapping of the various strategies used by teachers in Madrasah Aliyah (MA) to develop students’ kalām (speaking) skills, as well as to analyze the pedagogical considerations underlying the selection of these strategies. The research focuses not only on the types of strategies applied but also on the rationale, classroom needs, and instructional contexts that shape teachers’ practices in teaching speaking skills. A descriptive qualitative approach was chosen because it allows the researcher to capture the natural dynamics of classroom interaction and to understand the patterns, meanings, and considerations that emerge from teachers’ and students’ experiences. Data were collected through participatory classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation studies involving lesson plans, teacher reflection notes, and students’ task results. All data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes iterative processes of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teachers apply an eclectic set of strategies grouped into three main categories: (1) Lexical and psychological preparation, involving scaffolding, key vocabulary, and model dialogues; (2) Guided practice, including pair work, simple role-plays, and structured question–answer activities; and (3) Affective–corrective strategies, such as recasting, positive feedback, and delayed correction. The selection of these strategies is based on three primary considerations: addressing students’ psychological barriers (qalaq al-lughah), overcoming limited vocabulary that inhibits speaking fluency, and adapting to large class sizes and the lack of a supportive bī’ah lughawiyah (language environment), which requires teachers to adjust their strategies to the realities of the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of comparative language styles in the Mahallul Qiyam text contained in the book Majmu'atul Maulid Wal Ad'iyah written by Imam Abdurrahman al-Diba'i and the religious values ??contained therein. As an approach, this study uses a stylistic approach with the applied method being a qualitative descriptive method. The main focus of this study includes the types of comparative language styles and also the religious values contained therein. The data sources in this study are verses in the Mahallul Qiyam text that contain elements of comparative language styles. The data collection technique is carried out through the listening and speaking technique with intensive reading of the text, while for data analysis, the distribution method is carried out through the direct element (BUL) technique to identify the tenor, vehicle, and meaning relationship. The results of the study indicate that there are comparative language styles such as tasybih, majaz, and personification. The application of these language styles not only plays a role as an aesthetic element, but also as a tool to convey religious values. Among the most prominent religious values are the values of faith, which relate to belief in the nobility of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the values of morality and worship, which are part of its spiritual implications. Thus, the text of Mahallul Qiyam reflects the blend of linguistic beauty and profound religious meaning within the Islamic literary tradition.

Abstract

Kitābah (Arabic writing) instruction plays a crucial role in developing students' productive language skills; however, its implementation at the elementary level remains constrained by limited instructional strategies and low student proficiency. Previous studies have mainly focused on learning media, online instruction, or error analysis, leaving a gap in context-based kitābah strategies in primary education. This study aims to analyze the implementation of kitābah learning strategies and their contribution to improving students' writing skills. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study involved an Arabic teacher and fourth-grade students at SD Bani Daud Al-Islami Petir. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using an interactive model. The findings indicate that effective kitābah instruction involves integrating communicative approaches, guided practice, visual media, and linking writing with reading (qirā’ah) and speaking (muḥādathah). These strategies enhance student engagement, support grammatical understanding, and improve sentence construction. Additionally, structured learning stages and the use of student worksheets (LKPD) contribute to consistent skill development. This study highlights the importance of student-centered, structured instructional design for improving Arabic writing skills. Future studies are recommended to examine these strategies using quantitative or mixed-method approaches.

Abstract

The translation of Indonesian literary works into Arabic constitutes a growing yet insufficiently theorized area within cross-cultural literary exchange. While previous studies have examined the Arabic translation of Indonesian novels predominantly through linguistic lenses, no study has systematically analyzed the ideological orientations operative in the translation of cultural lexicon from Indonesian into Arabic. This study investigates domestication and foreignisation strategies in the Arabic translation of Eka Kurniawan's Cantik Itu Luka, rendered as al-Jamāl Jarḥ by Ahmad Syafi'i. Drawing on Venuti's domestication-foreignisation framework and Newmark's cultural lexicon taxonomy, this research employs a qualitative descriptive-comparative method. Data were drawn from the seventh edition of Cantik Itu Luka as the source text and al-Jamāl Jarḥ as the target text, comprising 125 cultural lexical items purposively sampled across five Newmark categories: ecology, material culture, social culture, social organization, and gestures and habits. The findings reveal that domestication predominates, accounting for 65.6% of attested strategies (82 items), while foreignisation accounts for 34.4% (43 items). Domestication prevails in the ecological and gesture categories, whereas foreignisation dominates in social organization through transliteration. These findings demonstrate that the translator's ideological orientation is contextually determined by the degree of cultural specificity embedded in each lexical item, and that foreignisation operates not merely as an ideological choice but as a structural necessity arising from the restricted cultural equivalence between Indonesian and Arabic. This study advances an Arabic-language perspective within the comparative translation scholarship on Cantik Itu Luka translations and extends the applicability of Venuti's framework to a non-European translation context.

Abstract

This study examines the use of Kalam Khabari in the poem “Uhibbuki Jiddan” by Nizar Qabbani through the framework of Ilm al Ma‘ani in Arabic rhetoric. The study aims to identify the types of Kalam Khabari, the forms of emphasis employed, and the rhetorical purposes that emerge in the text, as well as to explain their role in constructing the romantic tone of the poem. This research applies a qualitative descriptive method using a distributional approach. The data consist of poetic lines containing declarative structures, collected through careful and repeated reading, then identified, classified, and analyzed based on their structural forms and rhetorical functions. The findings reveal three main types of Kalam Khabari, namely ibtida’i, thalabi, and inkari, supported by various emphasis devices such as particles, repetition, and oath expressions. These structures function not only to convey information but also to express weakness, evoke awareness, convey emotional intensity, and invite compassion. The study shows that Kalam Khabari plays a significant role in strengthening meaning, intensifying emotional expression, and shaping the romantic character of the poem

Abstract

The objective of this research is to reveal how hybrid spirituality is constructed in Paulo Coelho’s novel Al-Khīmiyā’ī using Lucien Goldmann’s Genetic Structuralism. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected by identifying textual units, including narratives and dialogues, that represent the interaction between Western and Eastern values. The analysis was conducted by connecting the internal structure of the story with the broader social context of the author to reach a comprehensive understanding of the text. The results indicate that the protagonist, Santiago, successfully harmonizes individual agency (the West) with spiritual surrender or maktub (the East). Paulo Coelho is identified as a representation of the collective subject of modern society seeking common ground amidst the spiritual crisis of the global era. This research concludes that the novel offers a Hybrid Spirituality as a solution to value contradictions between cultures, affirming the role of literature as a bridge for global harmony.
