Abstract

Objective: This study aims to develop and evaluate G-Bond, a gamification-based learning media designed to improve students' literacy, visualisation, and numeracy skills in learning chemical bonds. Methods: The research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) model, limited to the development stage. A total of 35 high school students in Gresik Regency participated in the pretest-posttest design of one group. Five experts carry out validation through content assessment, design, and visualisation. Practicality was tested through a student questionnaire, and effectiveness was measured using an N-Gain score. Results: The G-Bond application obtained a perfect validity score (average = 5), was rated very practical (95.14%), and showed moderate to high effectiveness in improving literacy (N-Gain = 0.34), numeracy (0.34), and visualisation (0.74). The most significant improvement occurs in the visualisation aspect. Novelty: G-Bond is the first gamification medium to simultaneously integrate three main skills in one interactive platform based on the topic of chemical bonding. Unlike previous media that focused only on a single aspect or were less connected to the curriculum, G-Bond presents relevant and adaptive game-based contextual challenges for both online and offline learning. Future integration with Augmented Reality (AR) and AI technologies is proposed to enhance immersive and personalised learning experiences.

Abstract

General Background: Gastritis is a common gastrointestinal disorder frequently accompanied by epigastric pain that interferes with patient comfort and daily functioning. Specific Background: Non-pharmacological nursing interventions such as Benson relaxation therapy and guided imagery have been individually applied to manage pain in gastritis patients, particularly in primary healthcare settings. Knowledge Gap: However, empirical evidence examining the combined application of Benson therapy and guided imagery as a structured intervention in community health centers remains limited. Aims: This study aimed to examine the outcomes of a combined Benson therapy and guided imagery intervention on pain levels among gastritis patients at a primary healthcare center. Results: Using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design with 32 participants, the intervention group demonstrated a marked shift from moderate–severe pain to predominantly mild pain after the intervention, while the control group receiving pain management education showed a smaller reduction. Statistical analysis indicated significant pre–post differences within the intervention group and significant differences between groups after intervention. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in the standardized combination of Benson relaxation and guided imagery implemented as a single nursing intervention package in a primary care context. Implications: These findings support the integration of combined Benson therapy and guided imagery into routine nursing care as a feasible, safe, and low-cost non-pharmacological approach for managing gastritis-related pain in primary healthcare services. Highlights • Demonstrated pain level shift toward mild categories following combined relaxation intervention• Showed significant differences between intervention and education-only groups• Supported structured non-pharmacological nursing care in primary health centers Keywords Benson Therapy; Guided Imagery; Gastritis Pain; Non Pharmacological Nursing; Primary Health Care

Abstract

Technological advancements have significantly impacted the environment, highlighting the need to improve scientific literacy to address these effects. However, PISA data indicates that Indonesian students' scientific literacy remains low. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in enhancing scientific literacy among secondary school students through a literature review method. PjBL fosters active engagement, collaboration, and critical thinking by involving students in meaningful projects. The findings demonstrate that PjBL improves scientific literacy and creativity, though its implementation faces challenges such as limited resources, time constraints, and insufficient teacher training. The study concludes that PjBL is a promising approach to improving scientific literacy in Indonesia, provided adequate teacher training and resources are available to support its implementation.

Abstract

This community service program aims to support junior high school science teachers across Pacitan Regency in developing instructional tools grounded in deep learning principles. The program adopted a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach implemented through systematic training and mentoring activities involving 74 science teachers. The activities were organized into two main sessions. The first session focused on enhancing teachers’ conceptual understanding and providing practical guidance in designing deep learning–oriented instructional tools. During this stage, participants developed initial drafts that emphasized higher-order thinking skills, inquiry-based learning strategies, and the integration of digital media. The second session consisted of collaborative evaluation and refinement of the drafts through feedback from facilitators and fellow participants. The evaluation process employed facilitator assessment instruments to examine the alignment of the instructional tools with deep learning principles, along with participant questionnaires to document teachers’ perceptions and learning experiences. Quantitative data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative feedback from facilitators and participants was examined to support the interpretation of the findings. As a result, each participant produced a finalized deep learning–based instructional tool tailored to the specific needs of their classroom context. The findings indicate that 95.67% of participants rated the program as very good, and 93.4% reported an increased understanding of deep learning concepts. To ensure the sustainability of the program outcomes, all finalized instructional tools will be compiled into a single volume and submitted for ISBN registration. Overall, this initiative enhanced teachers’ pedagogical and technological competencies and provides a replicable model of professional development for other science education contexts.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an essential competency in 21st-century education, particularly in vocational schools where students are expected to apply scientific knowledge in real-life and professional contexts. This study aimed to develop an interactive e-book module to enhance students' scientific literacy on the topic of Living Organisms and the Environment by integrating batik ecoprint as a contextual learning medium. The novelty of this research lies in positioning batik ecoprint not merely as a practical skill activity but as a systematic scientific context within digital-based vocational learning. The study employed a Research and Development approach using the 4-D model, consisting of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The e-book flipbook module was validated by experts in content, media, language, and instructional design using the Content Validity Index (CVI). Its effectiveness was examined using a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test–post-test design across three Grade X vocational school classes. Data were analyzed using N-Gain. The results indicate that the developed e-book flipbook demonstrates high feasibility and effectively improves students' scientific literacy at moderate to high levels, with N-Gain values ranging from 0.63 to 0.77. These findings confirm the effectiveness of integrating local cultural contexts into vocational science learning.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease that is often accompanied by psychological problems in the form of anxiety. Uncontrolled anxiety can worsen the condition of hypertensive patients. One of the nonpharmacological efforts that can be made to lower anxiety levels is Benson Relaxation combined with the Qur'anic murottal. This study aims to determine the effect of Benson Relaxation with murottal on anxiety levels in hypertensive patients. This study uses a quasi experiment design with a pretest and posttest with control group approach. The research sample amounted to 42 respondents who were divided into intervention groups and control groups, each as many as 21 respondents, with purposive sampling techniques. Anxiety levels are measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). The research instrument showed that the item correlation value ranged from 0.529–0.727 and Cronbach's Alpha value was 0.756. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that in the intervention group there was a decrease in anxiety levels, with the median value before the intervention being 17.00 and after the intervention being 12.00, and the value p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means that there is a significant difference. Meanwhile, in the control group, there was no significant difference in anxiety levels, with the median value before treatment being 20.00 and 20.00 after treatment, and the p value = 0.058 (p > 0.05). Benson relaxation with murottal is effective in lowering anxiety levels in hypertensive patients and can be recommended as a non-pharmacological supportive therapy in nursing services. L,l,
