Abstract

Gayo-origin tobacco leaves (Nicotiana tabacum L.) are a locally cultivated tobacco variety widely grown in Central Aceh, Indonesia. Tobacco leaves are known to contain nicotine, a bioactive compound with various pharmacological and economic potentials. This study aimed to identify the nicotine content and phytochemical profile of Gayo tobacco leaf extract. The research procedures included sample collection, macroscopic and microscopic examinations, simplicia preparation, characterization of the simplicia and extract, phytochemical screening, quantitative nicotine determination using acidimetry titration, and qualitative analysis using Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS). Macroscopic examination showed that the leaves were oval to round in shape, broad-surfaced, green in color, with a characteristic odor and a bitter taste. Microscopic observation revealed the presence of vascular bundles, covering trichomes, and glandular hairs in the leaf fragments. The titrimetric test showed nicotine levels of 0.95 ± 0.3% in the simplicia powder and 1.87 ± 0.45% in the ethanol extract. GC–MS analysis identified several major compounds, including nicotine (20.99%) and Labda-8(20),13-dien-15-oic acid (29.85%) as dominant components, along with minor compounds such as Quinolin, 8-amino-6-hydroxy-Quinazoline (2.39%). These findings indicate that the Gayo tobacco leaf extract contains a relatively high level of nicotine and is dominated by alkaloid and diterpenoid acid derivatives, suggesting its potential for further phytochemical and pharmacological exploration.

Abstract

Body odor affects a person's social relationships, unpleasant odors are caused by bacteria that appear on parts of the body that are from sweat. One of the cosmetic products that is believed to prevent body odor is deodorant. Deodorant  spray has more hygiene because it is used without direct contact with the skin. An important component in deodorant sprays formulation is antimicrobial agents. Long-term use of synthetic antimicrobials can lead to resistance, so it must to use natural antimicrobials. Butterfly leaves (Bauhinia purpurea L) can be a natural antimicrobial agent, because  contain secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, phenols, alkaloids and saponins that can inhibit bacterial growth. This research began with phytochemical screening, making deodorant spray F0 (without extract), F1 (10% ), F2 (15% t), and F3 (20%) extract, evaluation and testing of antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The data analyzed with SPSS using One Way ANNOVA method. The results of this study showed that the pH value decrease along with the increase in the concentration of the extract in the preparation, but it was still within the normal pH range of 4.5-6.5. The results of the irritation test did not show an irritation and the preparation was preferred by the panelists. The antibacterial activity of deodorant spray  against both bacteria has a strong inhibitory power, there are F0 (0 mm), F1 (12.92 mm), F2 (13.82 mm), and F3 (16.85 mm) against Staphylococcus epidermidis, and F0 (0 mm), F1 (12.57 mm), F2 (13.47 mm), and F3 (15.32 mm).

Abstract

Skin disease was a disease that attacked the surface of the body, and was caused by various agents, one was bacteria. One of the plants that had antibacterial activity was jengkol leaf (Archidendron pauciflorum Benth.) I.C. Nielsen because it contained compounds that had antibacterial properties that had previously been studied by other researchers against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. So that researcher was interested in researching on the antibacterial activity of jengkol leaves (Archidendron pauciflorum Benth.) I.C. Nielsen against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes. Fresh Jengkol leaves were processed into simplicia and extracted using 96% ethanol. Phytochemical screening was carried out on simplicia powder and extracts of jengkol leaves. Ethanol extract jengkol leaves was made in several concentrations, namely 20%, 25%, and 30%, positive control using Tetracycline HCl, and negative control using 1% DMSO. There were several tests carried out on jengkol leaves in addition to phytochemical screening, namely examination of simplicia characteristic including macroscopic examination, microscopic examination, examination of water content, examination of water-soluble extract levels, examination of ethanol-soluble extracts, examination of total ash content, and also an examination of acid-insoluble ash levels and antibacterial activity test of jengkol leaves. The results of phytochemical screening showed that the compound of jengkol leaves (Archidendron pauciflorum Benth.) I.C. Nielsen contained a class of secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, steroids/triterpenoids, and glycosides. And for the results of the antibacterial activity research also showed that jengkol leaves could be used as antibacterial because it has a strong inhibitory power at a concentration of 20% and the strongest at a concentration of 30% against Staphylococcus epidermidis, namely 15.06 mm and 17.83 mm, while in diameter of growth inhibition zone Propionibacterium acnes was 15.86 mm and 18.1 mm.

Abstract

The buas buas (Premna pubescens Blume) plant is from the Lamiaceae family. The use of ethanol extract of buas buas leaf (Premna pubescens Blume) as soap is because soap is one of the health products needed by many people to maintain a healthy body. It is used as an antibacterial because buas buas leaves contain secondary metabolites that can be used as antibacterial.The Buas buas leaf Simplicia (Premna pubescens Blume) was extracted using 96% ethanol by maceration and concentrated with a rotary evaporator to evaporate the solvent. The concentrated extract obtained was tested by phytochemical screening, formulated into liquid soap with concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15% and tested for pH, foam height, viscosity, specific gravity and irritation test, and antibacterial activity against staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The results of the phytochemical screening test of the ethanol extract of buas buas leaf (Premna pubescens Blume) contained secondary metabolites in the form of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and steroids/triterpenoids. Liquid soap made with concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% has a pH of 10-10.3; foam height 50-90 mm; viscosity 1210-1290 cP; specific gravity 1-1.08 and did not cause irritation to volunteers; and have inhibitory power of 14.2 mm, 15.0 mm, 16.0 mm, and 20.0 mm against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, respectively.

Abstract

Seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi, semakin banyak sediaan farmasi yang dikembangkan. Ini termasuk inhaler, pen insulin, suppositoria, obat mata, telinga, dan lain-lain.  Tetes mata (oculoguttae), salep mata (oculenta), pencuci mata (colyria), dan bentuk lain dari obat mata dikenal sebagai optalmika. Penggunaan obat dengan alat khusus ini dapat menimbulkan efek samping dan hal yang tidak diiinginkan jika tidak digunakan secara benar. Hal ini disebabkan kurangnya informasi tentang penggunaan obat, cara penyimpanan dan lama penyimpanan obat pada masyarakat di Desa Kolam. Penyuluhan mengenai penggunaan obat dengan alat khusus ini untuk mencegah terjadinya efek samping atau hal yang tidak diinginkan. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan di Dusun I Desa Kolam, masyarakat dilibatkan dalam kegiatan yang dibantu oleh Kader Posyandu Kamboja dan pihak terkait lainnya.  Penyuluhan ini menggunakan ceramah, diskusi, dan pemutaran video. Selain itu, untuk mengetahui seberapa puas masyarakat dengan materi yang disampaikan, dan kuesioner. Pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan tim diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman yang baik kepada masyarakat, serta cara penggunaan obat dengan alat khusus secara tepat dan benar. Informasi akan pentingnya penggunaan obat, cara penyimpanan obat dan lama penyimpanan obat setelah kemasan dibuka. Hal ini akan berhubungan dengan efek terapi yang diharapkan serta untuk mencegah terjadinya efek samping obat.

Abstract

Lempuyang wangi (Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoe ex Sm.) merupakan tanaman obat yang sering digunakan oleh masyarakat di Jawa dan Sumatera. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri fraksi etil asetat rimpang lempuyang wangi terhadap Propionibacterium acnes dan Escherichia coli. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental, dimana variabel bebasnya adalah rimpang, simplisia, ekstrak etanol dan fraksi etil asetat rimpang lempuyang wangi dengan variasi konsentrasi 10%, 20%, 30%, kontrol (+) Kloramfenikol dan kontrol (-) DMSO. Sedangkan untuk variabel terikatnya adalah karakteristik simplisia, golongan senyawa metabolit sekunder pada simplisia dan aktivitas antibakteri fraksi etil asetat rimpang lempuyang wangi. Parameter dalam penelitian ini adalah pemeriksaan karakteristik, skrining fitokimia dan diameter zona hambat pertumbuhan bakteri. Hasil pemeriksaan makroskopik, bentuk rimpang mirip dengan rimpang jahe, namun mempunyai lebih banyak akar dan wangi aroma rimpangnya yang khas dan rasa pahit. Hasil pemeriksaan mikroskopik, butir pati tunggal, sel sekresi berwarna kuning kecoklatan, sel parenkim, jaringan gabus, pembuluh kayu serta serabut. Hasil karakteristik simplisia diperoleh kadar air 4%, kadar sari larut dalam air 7,3%, kadar sari larut dalam etanol 5,1%, kadar abu total 3,8% dan kadar abu tidak larut asam 1,83%. Skrining fitokimia simplisia menunjukkan adanya kandungan alkaloid, flavonoid, glikosida dan saponin. Hasil pengukuran zona hambat pada bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dan Escherichia coli untuk konsentrasi 10%: 11,7 mm dan 12,1 mm, pada konsentrasi 20%: 14,2 mm dan 14,6 mm dan pada konsentrasi 30%: 16,5 mm dan 16,9 mm. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa fraksi etil asetat rimpang lempuyang wangi memberikan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dan Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Vitamin C merupakan vitamin yang mudah larut dalam air, fungi utama vitamin C adalah sebagai koenzim atau kofaktor. Vitamin C juga disebut asam askorbat karena senyawa ini kuat dalam reduksinya dan bertindak sebagai antioksidan dalam reaksi hidroksilasi. Selain berfungsi sebagai antioksidan vitamin C mempunyai fungsi lain yakni terkait pembentukan kolagen yaitu senyawa protein yang berperan dalam reaksi jaringan ikat. Vitamin C berperan dalam penyembuhan luka, patah tulang, pendarahan di bawah kulit dan pendarahan gusi, vitamin c juga dapat menurunkan tekanan darah, kolesterol, dan serangan jantung.Tijuana penelitian ini untuk mengetahui berapa kadar vitamin C di dalam Sampel Minuman Sachet Ekonomis dalam Berbagai Merk dan membandingkan kadarnya dengan yang ada di kemasan, dengan menggunakan spektrofotometri UV. Sebanyak 1 gram Sampel dimasukkan ke dalam labu ukur 100 mL, lalu ditambahkan akuades sampai tanda batas kemudian dihomogenkan. Dipipet sebanyak, masukkan ke dalam labu ukur 25 mL, tambahkan akuades hingga tanda batas. Selanjutnya, diukur serapannya pada panjang gelombang maksimum yang dilakukan 6 kali pengulangan untuk tiap sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kadar rata-rata vitamin C pada Sampel A Pengenceran 1 6,3883 ± 0,1310 mcg/gr , Pengenceran 2 6,313 ± 0,1310 mcg/gr, Pengenceran 3 6,4134 ± 0,1310 mcg/gr, Pengenceran 4 6,4384 ± 0,1310 mcg/gr, Pengenceran 5 6,5636 ± 0,1310 mcg/gr, dan Pengenceran 6 6,4134 ± 0,1310 mcg/gr. Sampel B Pengenceran 1 17,85 ± 0,7439 mcg/gr, Pengenceran 2 16,929 ± 0,7439 mcg/gr, Pngenceran 3 16,7105 ± 0,7439 mcg/gr, Pengenceran 4 16,9735 ± 0,7439 mcg/gr, Pengenceran 5 17,105 ± 0,7439 mcg/gr, dan Pengenceran 6 17,719 ± 0,7439 mcg/gr. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi rendahnya minat siswa terhadap pembelajaran Informatika akibat metode yang monoton dan kurang interaktif, sehingga menimbulkan kebosanan dan menurunnya semangat belajar. Salah satu solusi yang ditawarkan adalah penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan media Augmented Reality (AR). PBL menekankan pemecahan masalah yang mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa, sedangkan AR memberikan pengalaman belajar interaktif melalui visualisasi konsep abstrak dalam bentuk simulasi nyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh PBL berbantuan media AR terhadap minat belajar siswa kelas IX SMPIT DOD Medan. Pendekatan yang digunakan bersifat kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu (quasi-experimental design) tipe Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX tahun ajaran 2025/2026, dengan sampel 45 siswa (24 eksperimen, 21 kontrol). Instrumen berupa angket minat belajar yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan uji-t (independent sample dan paired sample t-Test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai signifikansi ≤ 0,05, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada kelas eksperimen setelah penerapan PBL berbantuan media AR dibandingkan kelompok kontrol yang menggunakan metode konvensional. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan Problem Based Learning berbantuan media Augmented Reality berpengaruh positif terhadap minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Informatika.

Abstract

Gaharu (Aquilaria malaccensis Lam.) is one of the natural ingredients that can be used as an antioxidant. Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit free radical reactions in the body. Free radicals have an impact on the pathogenesis of several diseases in humans due to oxidative stress in cells. The purpose of this study was to determine the class of secondary metabolites of agarwood bark and antioxidant activity and to compare the value of IC50 (Inhibitory concentrations) of the methanol extract of agarwood bark with the IC50 of vitamin C in the DPPH method using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The methanol extract of agarwood bark was macerated using methanol, then determined the content of secondary metabolites of Simplicia. The determination of antioxidant activity was carried out on the methanol extract of agarwood bark with the addition of DPPH at various concentrations. The sample concentrations were 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 µg/mL.. As a comparison, vitamin C was used with concentrations of 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 µg/mL.. Then they calculated percent attenuation (% inhibition) and the value of IC50. The results of the screening on the methanol extract of agarwood bark contained chemical compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The determination of antioxidant activity was carried out using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with the DDPH method. The results were obtained from the methanol extract of the bark of agarwood, which has antioxidant activity in the strong category with an IC50 value of 94.59 µg/mL.and vitamin C in the very strong category with an IC50 value of 22,11 µg/mL.

Abstract

Noni contains alkaloids, flavonoids, tripertinoid, protein, lime, iron, carotene, glycosides antarkiron. The content of anthraquinin, scaloptin, flavonoid and adaptogen compounds are active compounds that have antifungal and antimicrobial effects. The antibiotics commonly used are antibiotics such as tetracycline, clindamycin and others. These chemical-based antibacterials have many negative side effects, therefore other alternatives are needed as antibacterials, one of which is by using noni. This study aims to analyze bioautography and determine the antibacterial activity of noni leaf ethanol extract against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria.This research was conducted experimentally using noni leaf ethanol extract with concentrations of 30%, 40%, 50% as independent variables and bioautographic analysis and antibacterial activity as dependent variables. The bioautography analysis was performed using TLC and the antibacterial activity test was performed using paper discs.The results of antibacterial testing of noni leaf ethanol extract with a concentration of 30% had an inhibition zone of 8.36 mm with a medium category, a concentration of 40% had an inhibition zone of 10.3 mm with a strong category and a concentration of 50% had an inhibition zone of 11.1 mm in a strong category. positive control tetracycline 30µg had an inhibition zone of 20.8 mm which was categorized as very strong.
