Abstract

This study aims to describe the condition of literacy and analyze the use of reading corners in increasing the literacy interest of grade IV students in MI-Ar-Raudlah. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a type of field research. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, field notes, and student literacy pre-tests. The results of the study show that the lack of reading corner facilities and school libraries causes literacy activities to not run optimally. Student reading activities are still limited to the use of textbooks during the learning process. In addition, students' reading interest is relatively low to moderate, and the ability to understand reading still needs to be improved, especially in finding the main idea and understanding the content of the reading text. However, the existence of a reading corner is considered to have the potential as a means of supporting in improving literacy culture and the habit of reading in elementary schools. Therefore, more optimal facility support and literacy management are needed to create a learning environment that supports the development of student literacy. Keywords: Reading Corner, Literacy Interest, Elementary School.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of character decline among the younger generation, particularly related to student discipline at the elementary school level. The main problem examined in this study is how the Scout extracurricular activities contribute significantly to reconstructing students' disciplined character. This study aims to comprehensively explore the process of character formation of fifth-grade students at elementary school of Socah 2, focusing on three dimensions: time discipline, dress code, and behavioral discipline. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach, where the subject is determined using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a series of structured studies including pre-research, observation, and in-depth interviews, while data analysis applied the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results show that Scout activities contribute significantly to transforming students' character. Time discipline was successfully formed through the application of educational sanctions based on the environment, dress code is driven by the strengthening of attributes as self-identity, and mature behavioral discipline through a variety of training methods (a combination of 10-minute PBB exercises and group games). The success of instilling the eighth Dasa Darma value is supported by consistent guidance and a strengthened system of collective responsibility within the troop.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of students' sense of responsibility for the cleanliness of the school environment, coupled with the limited creative role of teachers in instilling these character values in the midst of the dominance of digital cultural influences. The main objectives of this study include describing teachers' strategies in fostering awareness of hygiene responsibility, identifying supporting factors and barriers, and developing practical models that can serve as a guide for character education. The research methodology used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings of the study show that the most effective teacher strategies consist of routine environmental cleaning activities, habit formation through concrete modeling, and the application of educational sanctions. The main supporting factor comes from supportive school policies, while the main obstacle arises from the low intrinsic motivation of students. Overall, this study concludes that the role of teachers as active role models and innovators of experiential learning plays a crucial role in shaping students' character to have sustainable environmental awareness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between language politeness and communication patterns of fifth-grade students at SDN Gili Timur 2 Bangkalan. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational research type. The research sample consisted of 26 students selected using a saturated sampling technique (total sampling). Data were collected through questionnaires and observations. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability before being used in data collection. The results of the normality test showed that the language politeness data were not normally distributed, so the analysis of the relationship between variables was carried out using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The analysis results showed a correlation coefficient of 0.402 with a significance value of 0.042 (p < 0.05). These results indicate that there is a significant relationship between language politeness and student communication patterns. The relationship found was positive with a moderate category, which means that the higher the level of language politeness of students, the better the communication patterns shown in daily interactions. This finding indicates that language politeness plays a role in supporting the creation of effective and harmonious communication in the school environment. Therefore, the habit of using polite language needs to be continuously developed through collaboration between schools, families, and students' social environment.

Abstract

The study looked at how second graders use rough Madurese and what that saus about their manners in speaking. Through observations and talking to teachers and kids, it became clear that words like “hâdeh” and “kakeh” still pop up a lot when students joke around with friends. They pick it up mainly from jome, their friend circle, and what they see on social media. But when they talk to teachers, most of them switch to politer languange. In short, the habit comes from everyday life, so building polite speech needs to happen in both the classroom and at home

Abstract

This study aims to analyze elementary school students’ awareness of environmental cleanliness at Elementary School of Tanjung Jati 2. The problem underlying this research is the existence of students’ behaviors that indicate low concern for cleanliness, such as littering, low participation in cleaning activities, and the sub optimal implementation of character education habituation in schools. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the level of students' awareness of school environmental cleanliness was still relatively low and was influenced by several factors, including the role of teachers, school programs, habituation activities, and students' individual awareness. Forms of caring behavior demonstrated by students include maintaining classroom cleanliness, participating in cleaning activities such as “Clean Friday,” and disposing of waste properly. However, some students are still inconsistent in maintaining school cleanliness. Therefore, strengthening character education and implementing sustainable cleanliness programs are necessary to enhance students’ awareness and responsibility toward school environmental cleanliness.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of parental support in children's learning process as one of the factors that can influence the learning motivation of elementary school students. However, in reality, not all students receive optimal learning support from their parents, which can impact students' enthusiasm and involvement in learning activities. This study aims to determine the relationship between parental support and elementary school students' learning motivation. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational research type. The research sample was all 46 third-grade students of SDN Keleyan 2, consisting of classes IIIA and IIIB, with a total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a Likert scale questionnaire distributed to all respondents to measure the level of parental support and student learning motivation. The data obtained were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis techniques to determine whether there is a relationship between the two research variables. The results of this study are expected to provide an overview of the important role of parents in supporting children's learning process, as well as become a consideration for schools and parents in improving student learning motivation.

Abstract

This study was motivated by problems in the social interaction of fifth-grade students, such as students who tended to be alone during recess, lacked confidence to initiate conversations, interacted only with certain peer groups, and experienced minor peer conflicts. This study aimed to determine the effect of social interaction on peer relationships among fifth-grade students at Elementary School of Socah 1 Bangkalan. This research used a quantitative approach with 34 students as respondents. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire supported by observation, teacher interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The results showed that 47.06% of students were in the very good category, 38.24% in the good category, and 14.71% in the fair category. The regression analysis showed a regression coefficient of 0.730, a significance value of 0.000, and an R Square value of 0.522. These findings indicate that social interaction has a significant effect on peer relationships, with a contribution of 52.2%. Therefore, social interaction among peers needs to be strengthened to support positive and harmonious peer relationships among elementary school students.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the difficulties experienced by students in solving division operations in mathematics learning. The study aimed to describe the types of students' learning difficulties, analyze the factors causing these difficulties, and describe the teacher's efforts to overcome them. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive research method with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of seven students from Class III-B at Elentary school Mlajah 2 Bangkalan. Data were collected through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that students experienced three types of difficulties in solving division operations, namely conceptual, procedural, and factual difficulties. Procedural difficulty was the most dominant type, indicated by the students' inability to write the solution steps completely and systematically. The factors contributing to these difficulties included insufficient mastery of basic multiplication and subtraction, limited understanding of division procedures, lack of concentration during learning, carelessness in calculations, and the students' unfamiliarity with writing systematic solution procedures. The teacher addressed these difficulties by providing direct guidance, re-explaining division procedures, giving gradual practice exercises, and using concrete objects and instructional media to help students understand the concept of division.
