Abstract

The objectives of this study is to analysis the affectivities and rate of efficiencies of using organic fertilizer in rice cultivation. The research treatment was implemented atlowland rice ofMali Guyui village, Subdistrict of Sakti, Pidie District Province of Aceh. Study started in May to September 2018 had executed at irrigation rice field farm property of farmer with the treatment formation: (1) Manure, (2) Straw compost and (3) Treatment of farmer. The result of study showed that the highest grain yield was obtained at higher straw compost treatment of 800 kg/ha (11.11%) compared with the pattern of the farmers, and 640 kg/ha (8.69%) compared with manure treatment. The result of economic analysis showed that the level of benefits obtained by treatment of hay is higher IDR 580,600,- (7.42%) compared with the treatment of farmers with their conventional manures and the application of hay also bring the higher benefits IDR 1,582,480,- (23.19%) compared with chemical manure treatment. Abstract

In marine aquaculture, immersing marine fish species in fresh water can remove ectoparasite that adhere to all over the fish body. This study aimed to evaluate the impacts of combining microbial floc and microalgae Spirulina platensis in juvenile cobia diet on growth performance and stress responses after immersion in aerated fresh water for 15 minutes. The fishes were reared in concrete tanks for 40 days before collecting data on their growth performance. The stress response was determined by mea-suring both glucose and cortisol levels before (0 h) and after (1, 2, 4, 6, 24 hours) immersion. The fish-es fed on the 15% of combining microbial flock and microalgae Spirulina platensis diet showed the highest growth rate with the lowest feed conversion ratio compared to other treatments. The cortisol level of juvenile cobia in both the 15% and 30% combination of microbial floc and microalgae Spiru-lina platensis treatments did not increase during the first hour following the immersion compared to the control treatment. The glucose level also increased after one hour immersion in freshwater of all treatments. This indicated that feeding juvenile cobia on microbial flocs and microalgae diets had a retarding effect on the physiological responses (cortisol and glucose) after immersion in fresh water.Keywords: microbial, microalga, Spirulina, glucose, cortisol, stress, cobia

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to determine oceanographic and water quality parameters and their suitability for white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei culture. The measurements were carried out on dry season in Semak Daun Island, Karya Island, and Panggang Island waters of Thousand Islands, with areas of 315.0, 12.0, and 102.8 ha, water depth average of 4.6 m (0.5-28.1 m), 14.6 m (0.5-26.7 m), and 5.3 m (0.8-13.6 m), mean current water velocity of  12.9, 12.7, and 13.5 cm/second, respectively.  In the study areas, we found a diurnal tidal pattern with high wave in January and July-August.  Based on temperature, salinity, and water density in Semak Daun Island waters, there seemingly occurred a turn over indicating a good water circulation, while in Panggang Island and Karya Island waters tended to have a stratification. Generaly, water qualities in the study areas were in the op-timum range for white shrimp culture, i.e., temperature of 29.6-30.8oC, turbidity of 0.10-1.05 NTU, transparency of 5.8-9.7 m, total suspended solid of <8 mg/L, total dissolved solid of 20-164 mg/L, pH of 6.89-7.22, salinity of 32.2-32.3, dissolved oxygen of 5.8-10.8 mg/L, ammonia of 0.068-0.145 mg/L, nitrate 1.247-2.589 mg/L, and phosphate  of 1.021-2.352 mg/L. Moreover, in Semak Daun Island wa-ters, we found the highest suitability for white shrimp culture due to its better water circulation.Keywords: mariculture, coral reef waters, strait, water current, turnover, stratification.

Abstract

Dog conch Laevistrombus turturella is captured intensively, therefore, their population is decline. The dog conch culture is needed to maintain their population. The technology towards conch reproduction is still not developed yet in Indonesia. The 17β-estradiol hormone in conch and some mollusks has been stated by some researcher yet its main role in conch reproduction process has not widely known. The study about the addition of 17β-estradiol hormone in accelerating gonad development has never been reported. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the addition of 17β-estradiol against dog conch’s gonad development. This study used three treatments for three groups of dog conch those were without injection (P1), injection by 30 µL of corn oil mixed with absolute ethanol (P2), and 30 µL of 17β-estradiol stock solution (P3). After injection, the dog conch was reared in pens culture in their natural habitat for 30 days. This study showed that the injection of a 17β-estradiol solution (P3) stimulated the dog conch’s gonad development as evidenced by greater oocyte mean diameter than another treatment. The mean of gonadal weight and GSI on P3 treatment was also higher than treatments P1 and P2. SDS-PAGE analysis showed that dog conch’s hemolymph has several kinds of proteins with varying molecular weights. Proteins with a molecular weight of 54-55 kDa are predicted as dog conch’s vitellogenin.

Abstract

One of method of Data Analysis Category used to determine the effect of the relationship with the response variable of type nominal is using Binary LogisticRegression (BLR) approach. BLR is used for data whose response variable isdata consisting of two categories, with one predictor variable or more, bothcategorical and continuous. In determining the degree of workforce inIndonesia, one indicator that can be used is the status of working. Status workdefined into two, namely the status is still working and the status does not work.Variabel used in this study is the working status ( Y) as the response variablewith category 1 is still working, category 0 does not work, while the predictorvariables are education level (X1) and gender (X2). Abstract

Pembenihan ikan kerapu dihadapkan pada rendahnya sintasan, terutama fase awal hidupnya. Rendahnya sintasan diduga berhubungan dengan belum berkembangnya organ pencernaan larva dan tidak tersedianya pakan yang siap diserap tubuh. Pemberian asam amino bebas seperti taurin dan glutamin melalui rotifer diharapkan dapat meningkatan ketersediaan nutrien yang dapat diserap dengan cepat oleh larva, sehingga sintasan larva tinggi dan dapat tumbuh lebih cepat. Penelitian bertujuan mengukur pengaruh glutamin atau taurin terhadap sintasan dan pertumbuhan larva kerapu bebek Cromileptes altivelis. Larva umur 1 hari (10 ekor.L-1) dipelihara dalam bak fiberglass volume 500 L yang diisi air laut sampai 330 L. Larva diberi pakan rotifer diperkaya 0,5 g glutamin, 0,5 g taurin, atau tanpa glutamin dan taurin. Larva dipelihara selama 16 hari dengan pemberian pakan 2 kali  per hari. Satu jam setelah pemberian pakan dilakukan pengamatan terhadap jumlah rotifer dalam saluran pencernaan larva ikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jumlah rotifer dalam saluran pencernaan larva meningkat seiring dengan bertambahnya umur. Namun, jumlah rata-rata rotifer yang dikonsumsi larva pada perlakuan 0,5 g glutamin atau 0,5 g taurin lebih banyak dibanding perlakuan tanpa taurin dan glutamin. Larva yang diberi rotifer hasil pengkayaan dengan 0,5 g glutamin atau 0,5 g taurin memiliki sintasan yang tidak berbeda (P>0,05), masing-masing 19,2±2,25%, dan 24,5±1,20%, dan secara signifikan lebih banyak dibanding larva di perlakuan tanpa glutamin dan taurin yang nilainya 13,0±1,70%. Larva yang diberi rotifer hasil pengkayaan dengan 0,5 g taurin secara signifikan lebih panjang (5,5±0,18 mm) dari ikan di perlakuan 0,5 g glutamin (5,3±0,12 mm). Demikian juga, larva di perlakuan glutamin lebih panjang dari pelakuan tanpa glutamin dan taurin (5,0±0,16 mm). Pengkayaan rotifer menggunakan asam amino bebas taurin atau glutamin dapat meningkatkan sintasan dan pertumbuhan larva kerapu bebek. Namun, taurin lebih baik dibanding glutamin karena memberi efek ke pertumbuhan ikan yang lebih cepat. Kata kunci: taurin, glutamin, kerapu bebek, Cromileptes altivelis. The hatchery production of grouper faced to the problem of low surival rate, especially during the first feeding period. During this period, the digestive organ of larvae was underdeveloped, and the nutrient in live food was not readily absorbed by larvae. Feeding on free amino acids, such as taurine or glutamine, enriched rotifer would be enhanced the nutrient readily absorbed thereby resulting to the improvement of growth and survival rate of larvae. A duplicate experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of rotifer enriched with free amino acid of glutamine or taurine, on the growth and survival rate of larval grouper Cromileptes altivelis. One day old larvae were cultured in 500 l fiberglass containing 330 l of sea water with a density of 10 ind.L-1. Larvae were fed on rotifer enriched with either 0.5 g glutamine, 0.5 g taurine, or without glutamine nor taurine. Larvae were fed on rotifer twice a day at 08.00 and 14.00, and cultured for 16 days. One h after feeding, rotifer content in the gut of larvae were observed. Results showed that larvae fed on rotifer enriched with 0.5 g taurine or 0.5 g glutamie had higher rotifer content in the gut than that in the other group. Larvae fed on rotifer enriched with 0.5 g glutamine or 0.5 g taurine had the same survival rate (P>0.05), 19.2±2.25% and 24.5±1.20%, respectively; these values were significantly higher than that in the other group which was 13.0±1.70%.  The total length of larvae fed on rotifer enriched with 0.5 g taurine (5.5±0.18 mm) significantly was the biggest compared than others; while those fed on rotifer enriched with 0.5 g glutamine (5.3±0.12 mm) was bigger than fish fed on rotifer without glutamine nor taurine (5.0±0.16 mm). Thus, it can be concluded that survival rate and growth of larvae were improved when feeding on rotifer enriched with taurine or glutamine. Nevertheless, taurine was more efective than glutamine due to its effect resulted the highest growth performance of larval grouper. Keywords: taurine, glutamine, grouper, Cromileptes altivelis

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengungkap dan mendeskripsikan pemahaman  dan unjuk kerja higiene-sanitasi siswa dalam pengolahan dan penyajian makanan  di SMKN 1 Kubu. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas X di SMKN 1 Kubu  yang berjumlah 89 orang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes pengetahuan, angket, dan lembar observasi. Selanjutnya data dianalisis dengan teknik deskriptif dengan menggunakan formula persentase. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pemahaman higiene-sanitasi siswa dalam pengolahan dan penyajian makanan di SMKN 1 Kubu  adalah baik, dengan persentase 69,88%; dan (2) Unjuk kerja higiene-sanitasi siswa dalam pengolahan dan penyajian makanan di SMKN 1 Kubu  adalah sangat baik dengan persentase 81,91%.   Kata kunci:  pemahaman, unjuk kerja, prinsip-prinsip higiene-sanitasi, SMK, pengolahan dan penyajian makanan.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of organic selenium to growth performance and health status of catfish Clarias gariepinus.The treatments applied was the addition of organic selenium into the diet with different dose, which was 0, 1, 4, and 8 g kg-1 of the diet. The organic selenium concentration in the diet was 0.30, 0.79, 2.26, and 5.79 mg kg-1 . The catfish with an initial body weight of 5.97 ± 0.06 g and stocking density of 150 individuals tank-1 were rearing for 56 days in the cemen tank with a capacity of 300 liters. During the research, the fish were fed thrice a day at 07.00 am, 02.00 pm, and 08.00 pm with number of diet was 3% of body weight. The result showed that additional organic selenium of 2.26 mg kg-1 in dietary was significantly affecting the retention protein, fat and selenium by 34.8±2.9%, 63.9±4.1% and 28.6±1.9%, respectively. Supplementation of organic selenium in the same dose also enhanced the number of white blood cells of 1.60±0.13 cells mm3 ×105 and hemoglobin concentrations of 7.93±0.1 g %. Supplementation of the organic selenium of 2.26 mg kg-1 in dietary can improve the growth performance and health status of catfish. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh selenium organik terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan dan status kese- hatan ikan lele (Clarias gariepinus). Perlakuan empat dosis selenium organik yang ditambahkan dalam pakan yaitu: 0 (kontrol), 1, 4, dan 8 g kg-1 pakan dengan kadar selenium pakan berturut-turut 0,30; 0,79; 2,26 dan 5,79 mg kg-1 . Ikan lele yang digunakan dengan bobot awal rata-rata 5,97+0,06 g, dipelihara dalam 12 bak beton bervolume 300 liter de- ngan kepadatan 150 ekor per bak selama 56 hari. Ikan diberi pakan 3% dari bobot tubuh dengan frekuensi tiga kali se- hari pada pukul 07.00, 14.00, dan 20.00. Percobaan didesain menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat per- lakuan dan tiga ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan selenium 2,26 mg kg-1 pakan memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata pada retensi protein, lemak, dan selenium berturut-turut sebesar 34,8±2,9%, 63,9±4,1% dan 28,6±1,9% dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya (p<0,05). Penambahan selenium dengan dosis yang sama juga dapat meningkatkan jumlah sel darah putih sebesar 1,60±0,13 sel mm3 ×105 dan kadar hemoglobin sebesar 7,93±0,1 g %. Penambahan selenium 2,26 mg kg-1 pakan mampu meningkatkan kinerja pertumbuhan dan status kesehatan ikan lele.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the effect of dietary protein levels enriched with rGH on the ratio of length of the intestine to body weight of giant gourami. The diet with different protein levels (i.e. 21%, 28%, 34%; isoenergy) coated with egg yolk containing rGH. Each treatment has a control without rGH addition. Juveniles of giant gourami (body weight15.83 ± 0.13 g) were fed with a diet containing rGH twice a week. Fish were reared in 100 L glass aquaria with density of 10 fish per aquaria for 42 days. At the end of the treatment, body weight and length of the intestine were measured to determine the effect of treatment on the ratio of these two parameters. The result of research showed that at each level of treatment, the dietary protein levels and rGH supplementation gave a significant effect to increase the ratio of intestinal length to body weight (p <0,05). Ratio of intestinal length to body weight of fish was increase by decre-asing protein level in dietary (p <0,05). No interaction between protein levels and rGH additon on the ratio of intestinal length to body weight (p> 0,05). Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pengaruh pemberian pakan dengan kadar protein berbeda yang diperkaya dengan rGH pada nisbah panjang usus dan bobot tubuh ikan gurami. Pakan dengan kadar protein berbeda (21%, 28%, 34%;isoenergi) dibalut kuning telur yang mengandung rGH. Masing-masing perlakuan memiliki kontrol tanpa penam-bahan rGH. Yuwana ikan gurami (bobot tubuh15,83±0,13 g) diberi pakan mengandung rGH dua kali seminggu. Yuwa-na ikan dipelihara dalam akuarium volume100 L dengan padat tebar 10 ekor per akuarium selama 42 hari. Pada akhir perlakuan dilakukan pengukuran bobot tubuh dan panjang usus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada masing-ma-sing taraf perlakuan kadar protein pakan, pemberian rGH berpengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap peningkatan nisbah pan-jang usus dan bobot tubuh ikan. Penurunan kadar protein pada pakan terbukti meningkatkan nisbah panjang usus dan bobot tubuh ikan (p<0,05). Tidak terdapat interaksi antar perlakuan kadar protein dan penambahan rGH terhadap rasio panjang usus terhadap bobot tubuh (p>0,05).

Abstract

Vitamin E is lipid soluble antioxidant and plays important roles in fish reproduction. This study aimed to examine the effects of feeding diets with different dose of vitamin E on the reproductive performance of female marble goby. Fish were fed with earthworms (Eudrilus eugeniae) having different level of Vitamin E viz. 0 mg (A), 200 mg (B), 400 mg (C), 800 mg (D) and 1600 mg (E) vitamin E kg-1 earthworms.. High-density lipoprotein (HDL), lowdensity lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride, total cholesterol, estradiol, egg size, gonadosomatic index (GSI), gonadal histology and levels of vitamin E in gonad were determined. The level of total cholesterol in serum was increased on day 30 along with increasing the level of estradiol, HDL, LDL and triglyceride. The egg size 1.20-1.39 mm from diets D has a highest frequency than treatment A, B, C, dan E.The lowest value of GSI was found in the fish from B treatment. This finding was supported by gonadal histology which showed that the ovary development was slower in B treatment than C, D, and E treatments. The highest level of vitamin E in gonad was obtained in fish from D treatment. In conclusion, the result of the experiment indicates that 800 mg vitamin E kg-1 earthworms was the best dose for the reproductive performance of female marble goby. Abstrak Vitamin E merupakan antioksidan yang larut dalam lemak dan berperan dalam reproduksi ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan pengaruh dosis yang berbeda pada pakan terhadap kinerja reproduksi ikan betutu betina. Ikan uji di-beri pakan berupa cacing tanah (Eudrilus eugeniae) yang mengandung 0 (A), 200 (B), 400 (C), 800 (D) dan 1600 (E) mg vitamin E kg-1 cacing tanah. Parameter yang dianalisis adalah high density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL), trigliserida, total kolesterol, konsentrasi estradiol, diameter telur, indeks kematangan gonad (IKG), histologi gonad, dan konsentrasi vitamin E gonad. Konsentrasi total kolesterol darah meningkat pada hari ke-30 bersamaan de-ngan meningkatnya konsentrasi estradiol, HDL, LDL, dan trigliserida. Ukuran diameter telur pada perlakuan D (1,201,39 mm) memiliki frekuensi tertinggi dibandingkan dengan perlakuan A, B, C, dan E. IKG pada percobaan B menun-jukkan hasil yang terendah. Hal ini selaras dengan hasil histologi gonad yang menunjukkan bahwa perkembangan gonad perlakuan B lebih lambat dibandingkan dengan perlakuan C, D, dan E. Konsentrasi vitamin E gonad pada perlaku-an D menunjukkan hasil tertingi dibandingkan perlakuan A, B, C dan E. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dosis vitamin E sebesar 800 mg kg-1 cacing tanah merupakan dosis terbaik untuk meningkatkan kinerja reproduksi ikan betutu betina.
