Abstract

Background: Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a common condition in adult men with a prevalence exceeding 50% by the age of ≥ 60 years. BPH causes symptoms of lower urinary tract infection, which reduces the quality of life and increases the burden of health services through visits, examinations, and medical interventions. BPH service practices still vary between health services, and medical records are still inconsistent and often deviate from clinical guidelines Objective: To examine the implementation of the BPH clinical pathway (CP) through clinical audit and explore its inhibiting factors. Methods: Qualitative research with a case study design in one regional referral service center. Data were collected through three triangulation sources: (1) observation of medical audits of 63 BPH patients' medical records, (2) in-depth interviews with 12 health workers (doctors and nurses), and (3) policy documents related to CP. Thematic analysis was carried out iteratively to identify patterns of CP non-conformity and implementation barriers. Results: Thirty-five percent of medical records did not meet CP criteria. Key obstacles included low awareness of the CP among healthcare workers, limited clinical time, and lack of integration of health information systems. Conclusion: The implementation of the BPH clinical pathway remains hindered by clinical and systemic factors. Evidence-based CP provides strategic solutions to improve service consistency and quality, but supporting policies, ongoing training, and integration of information systems are needed to optimize its application.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cocopeat and hydroton growing media on the growth of tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) in polybag cultivation systems. The research used an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), comprising six treatments and four replications. Observed parameters included plant height, leaf number, root length, and fresh and dry plant weights. The results showed that treatment P5 (50% soil + 50% hydroton) yielded the best outcomes across most parameters, such as plant height (47.75 cm), leaf number (12.50), root length (24.75 cm), and fresh stem weight (24.75 g). Conversely, treatment P2 (100% cocopeat) showed the lowest growth results. The study concludes that a combination of soil and hydroton is the most effective growing medium for supporting tomato plant growth. Further research is recommended through the generative phase to evaluate yield effects.

Abstract

Work environments demanding high productivity often ignore workers' psychological aspects, triggering work stress. Job stress is an individual's response to work pressure exceeding their coping ability. A main cause is mental workload—an individual's perception of task weight to be completed within certain time and conditions. Additionally, workplace noise can worsen psychological conditions, especially if continuous. Individual characteristics such as age, length of service, and education level also determine a person's vulnerability to stress. These factors, if not properly managed, can negatively impact worker health, safety, and productivity. This study analyzed the relationship between mental workload, noise, individual characteristics, and work stress using quantitative methods with cross-sectional design. The population comprised 134 workers in noise areas divided into 4 fields: operators, machine maintenance, electrical maintenance, and control & instrument maintenance. Using proportionate stratified sampling and accidental sampling techniques, 60 samples were obtained. Results showed 76.7% of respondents experienced moderate work stress, with the most dominant cause being qualitative overload (33.3%). Chi-square test analysis revealed a relationship between mental workload and work stress (p-value = 0.003). However, noise (p-value = 0.422), age (p-value = 0.512), length of service (p-value = 0.259), and education level (p-value = 0.201) were not related to work stress. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between mental workload and work stress among workers at PT. PLN Nusantara Power UP Muara Tawar. Therefore, it is important for companies to identify and manage stress-inducing factors to create a healthy and sustainable work environment.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of CBT on reducing depression in patients with Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD). The study used a quasi-experimental pre-post test design without a control group and was conducted in the hemodialysis ward of Abdur Rahem Hospital, Situbondo. The sample size was 39 patients in the treatment group and 39 in the control group, selected through purposive sampling. The Beck's Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) was used to measure depression. The results showed a significant reduction in depression levels in both groups (p = 0.001), but a greater reduction occurred in the treatment group, with an average N-gain of 45.44%, compared to the control group, which only achieved 17.54% (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that CBT is effective in reducing depression levels in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. In conclusion, CBT therapy is recommended as a routine psychological intervention to improve the mental well-being and quality of life of CKD patients. Abstract

Introduction: Nurses in psychiatric inpatient wards must remain highly alert because patient behavior can be unpredictable and potentially risky. Despite the demanding work environment, research on psychosocial factors associated with work stress among psychiatric nurses remains limited in Southeast Asia and other low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).Objectives: This study aims to determine the relationships among mental workload, colleague support, and work shifts with work stress among female nurses working in the psychiatric inpatient ward at RSJD Dr. Amino Gondohutomo Semarang. Methods: This quantitative analytic study used a cross-sectional study design. The population consisted of 111 female psychiatric inpatient nurses, and 60 respondents were selected through proportional sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using chi-square tests. Results: Of the respondents, 38.3% experienced mild work stress, 51.7% reported low coworker support, and 38.4% had low mental workload. Nurses who frequently worked evening or night shifts reported a higher proportion of work stress than those on regular shifts. Significant associations were found between mental workload (p=0.008), coworker support (p=0.002), and shift work (p=0.043) and work stress. Conclusion: Work stress among psychiatric nurses is shaped by workload, peer support, and shift patterns, underscoring the need for a comprehensive psychosocial approach. Beyond individual coping strategies, such as maintaining adequate rest, organizational measures are essential to reduce work stress and enhance the quality of psychiatric nursing services. These measures include optimizing shift schedules, strengthening peer support, and ensuring adequate staffing.
