Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Canva-based digital teaching media in improving students' creative thinking skills in history learning at SMK Pertanian Pembangunan Lembang. The research aims to assess whether digital tools can enhance students' fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration in creative thinking. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with a mixed-method approach was implemented over three learning cycles. The study involved 64 students, divided into an experimental group (n = 32) and a control group (n = 32). Data collection instruments included the Creative Thinking Ability Test, Visual Work Assessment Rubric, and Student Response Questionnaire, validated with Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.87. Findings demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ creative thinking skills across four dimensions: fluency (M = 72.3, SD = 8.2), flexibility (M = 68.9, SD = 7.8), originality (M = 65.4, SD = 9.1), and elaboration (M = 70.2, SD = 8.5). The effect size (d = 0.82) indicated the Canva-based method’s superiority over traditional learning. Additionally, qualitative analysis showed an increase in learning motivation (85.3%) and improved quality of students’ visual works. The study provides empirical evidence that integrating digital technology in history learning enhances students’ creative thinking skills. The findings highlight the necessity of teacher professional development, adequate technological infrastructure, and contextual learning strategies for effective digital learning implementation. Canva-based digital media significantly improves creative thinking skills in vocational history education. These results suggest its potential for broader application in digital-based learning strategies within vocational education contexts.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes to the educational paradigm, including history learning, which is now shifting from a conventional model to a more adaptive and interactive digital system. This study aims to analyze the positive impacts and disruptive effects of AI implementation in history education while formulating mitigation strategies to balance technological advancement with humanistic values. Using a literature study method and a descriptive-analytical approach, the findings indicate that AI has the potential to enrich history learning through personalized learning, digital visualization based on VR and AR, and data analytics that assist teachers in understanding students’ needs more deeply. However, challenges arise in the form of shifting teacher roles, dependency on algorithmic systems, and ethical as well as privacy concerns. Therefore, strategies such as strengthening teachers’ digital literacy, implementing hybrid learning models that integrate AI with human interaction, and establishing ethical policies focusing on students’ rights protection are essential. Thus, the application of AI should be positioned as a means to reinforce the humanistic dimension and reflective character of learners, rather than merely serving as a tool for learning efficiency in the digital era.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes to the field of education, including history learning. This article aims to analyze in depth the philosophical, ethical, and practical implications of utilizing AI in history learning, particularly in the context of character development and students’ academic integrity. This study employs a literature review with a descriptive-analytical approach, examining various scholarly sources on the use of AI technology in education. This includes educators at various levels, AI technology developers, education policymakers, students as primary users, and the wider community with a stake in the education system. The initial goal of artificial intelligence was to make human work easier, but over time, artificial intelligence has become a dilemma, trapping humans in a spiral of pseudo-intelligence. This has undoubtedly changed many models of human interaction. Based on this, a more humane digital life is needed.A life that is enlightening by prioritizing human intelligence (analog) rather than artificial intelligence (digital), which shackles humans in the context of the digital shadow that enslaves humanism. This ensures that the humanistic touch of art is not easily disrupted by artificial intelligence. This research adopts a qualitative approach to in-depth explore various aspects of AI use in education. The primary objective of this research is to identify and analyze the potential benefits of integrating artificial intelligence into education.

Abstract

This article examines thematic and integrated approaches in Social Studies Education through ontological, epistemological, and axiological perspectives. It arises from the limited availability of studies that explore these approaches from historical and developmental perspectives. The purpose of this literature research is to describe the early evolution of thematic and integrated approaches and to explain how educational practices have changed over time. Using the library research method by Both and Williams (2016), the study follows ten stages of data collection, analysis, and reduction based on relevant references. Through the Publish or Perish application, 30 relevant articles were identified using the keywords "pendekatan tematik dan terpadu." The findings reveal that interdisciplinary contexts provide a crucial perspective in Social Studies, emphasizing integration among disciplines as a core principle. These approaches gained prominence in the 20th century, influenced by Bruner's constructivism (1960) and Krathwohl's revision of Bloom's Taxonomy (2002). Models developed by Fogarty (1991) and Jacobs & Borland (1986) demonstrate their practical application, with Indonesian curricula applying integrated, correlated, and separated models across different education levels

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine efforts to foster ecological awareness among citizens through an ecopedagogical approach integrated with local community wisdom. The Bekarang tradition in South Sumatra is highlighted as an example of cultural practice that functions as a form of civic education beyond the boundaries of formal schooling. This tradition embodies values of environmental preservation, thereby contributing to the internalization of citizens’ rights and responsibilities, particularly concerning the natural environment. The research employs a qualitative approach with a conceptual paper design supported by a literature review. The literature serves as a basis for exploring, examining, and synthesizing key concepts. The findings indicate that ecopedagogy, when internalized through local traditions, can serve as an effective medium for transmitting ecological values to society. Environmental education grounded in local cultural values not only strengthens ecological identity but also encourages active citizen participation in environmental protection. This research underscores the importance of synergy between education, local wisdom, and policy in shaping environmentally conscious citizens who are actively involved in sustainability efforts.

Abstract

Schools in the Indonesia-Timor Leste border region, including SMP Negeri 2 Atambua, face unique challenges in instilling national values in students living in a diverse social and cultural environment. By implementing a conflict resolution approach in social studies, teachers can transform the learning process into an educational tool to foster national awareness and tolerance among students living in the border region. This study aims to determine and describe the application of the conflict resolution approach in social studies learning as an educational instrument to instill nationalist values in schools in the Indonesia-Timor Leste border area. The location of the study was at SMP Negeri 2 Atambua, with research subjects including teachers, students, principals, and other related parties. The method used was a qualitative case study, through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the application of the conflict resolution approach in social studies learning can create a harmonious learning atmosphere and reduce social tensions between students, while at the same time instilling nationalist values related to Indonesian history, state symbols, and the importance of maintaining the integrity of the nation. However, there are challenges faced, such as limited resources, facilities, and teacher training, as well as complex socio-cultural dynamics in the border area. The implementation of this approach is expected to be a strategic instrument in strengthening the nationalist character in the border area.

Abstract

This study aims to develop social studies teaching materials focused on conflict resolution education, addressing the unique needs of Class VII students in Pasaman, Indonesia. Conflict resolution is a crucial skill in today's global context, particularly in social studies, which integrates essential principles and competencies. Using Branch’s ADDIE research method, the study highlights the urgent need for a specialized guidebook tailored to Pasaman's local context and cultural nuances. Data collection revealed that 57.6% of students had low comprehension of conflict resolution, 28.2% medium, and 14.1% high. These findings emphasize the importance of differentiated instructional materials that cater to diverse learning needs. The proposed guidebook is designed not only to improve conflict resolution skills but also to incorporate elements of local wisdom, fostering a more relevant and engaging learning experience. The study further underscores the collaborative role of stakeholders in developing materials that align with students' understanding levels and cultural backgrounds. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, this research offers a model for creating inclusive, context-specific teaching strategies. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on local adaptation, contributing to a more effective learning process and supporting efforts to cultivate peace and resilience in educational settings.

Abstract

This study examines in depth the dynamics of social entrepreneurship innovation arising from the resilience of the Cireundeu Indigenous Community in facing modernization pressures in Cimahi City, West Java. Cireundeu represents one of the most compelling cases of an indigenous community that has successfully transformed resistance to the current of modernization into productive social entrepreneurship innovation grounded in the local wisdom of "tatali paranti karuhun." The study employs a qualitative methodology with an ethnographic approach, involving participatory observation, in-depth interviews with 28 informants, and Focus Group Discussions. Data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model integrating a community-based social entrepreneurship framework, socio-ecological resilience theory, and indigenous knowledge perspectives. The findings reveal three mutually reinforcing dimensions of social entrepreneurship innovation: (1) communal entrepreneurship based on "tatali paranti karuhun," which creates collective enterprises for local cassava food management with a unique customary governance system; (2) transformative market innovation through the Rasi Cireundeu brand, integrating Sundanese cultural values with contemporary creative economies; and (3) participatory cultural ecotourism as a social business model that simultaneously strengthens cultural identity and delivers local economic sovereignty. This study demonstrates that indigenous community resilience is not merely passive defense but an active process that generates innovative entrepreneurial solutions addressing contemporary challenges while preserving cultural identity. The research contributes to the development of social entrepreneurship theory by proposing the Indigenous-Based Social Entrepreneurship Model (IBSEM), which emphasizes local wisdom as the primary capital for sustainable innovation. The findings carry important policy implications for strengthening indigenous community economies, developing culturally grounded entrepreneurship curricula, and formulating an inclusive development paradigm that respects cultural diversity and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Contemporary Indonesian education faces the challenge of producing graduates who are intellectually competent while rooted in national values. However, systematic philosophical reconstruction of national education thinkers as a foundation for the Merdeka Curriculum remains limited. This study aims to reconstruct Mohammad Sjafei’s educational philosophy through ontological, epistemological, and axiological analysis, map its position within pragmatism, essentialism, and progressivism, and identify its relevance to history learning. The study employed a qualitative method using a philosophical-historical literature approach and conceptual content analysis of Sjafei’s works and authoritative secondary sources. The findings reveal that Sjafei’s educational philosophy is grounded in the concept of integral humanity, contextual experience, and national character formation, reflected in the principle of “Alam Terkembang Jadi Guru” and the active-creative educational system of INS Kayutanam. The study contributes a synthesis of Western educational philosophy and local Indonesian epistemology as a reconstructive framework for place-based history pedagogy and strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile.
