Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of reading conference technique in teaching reading of EFL learners. Thirty two learners consisting of 12 males and 20 females from the second grade of English Department at Nusantara PGRI Kediri University were participated in the study. To conduct the study, pre-test were administered before applying treatment, while post-test were administered after applying treatment. Quantitative method and pre-experimental approach were applied in this present study and t- test was used to analyze the data. The analyses resulted in the finding that the score of post-test exhibited significantly better than the score of pre-test. Thus, it can be said that reading conference is effective in teaching reading at the second grade learners of English Department at Nusantara PGRI Kediri University.

Abstract

Mental health programs in the area of Semarang is still less than optimal health centers in empowerment, mental health problems have the iceberg. Seeing the development of the current era, it is possible the number of people with mental disorders will increase and more diverse kind. Mental health problems have iceberg. Seeing the development of the current era, it is possible the number of people with mental disorders will increase and more diverse kind. Development of mental health in the Village District Tembalang Rowosari Semarang City has not run optimally. Health cadres in RW 06 and RW 07, said that only limited Posyandu activities posyandu in infants. This causes no detection of mental health in terms of mental disorders, psychosocial and mental health risks, the main objective the establishment of mental health cadres is to improve the quality of life of every citizen to a healthy soul in RW 06 and RW 07 Rowosari Village District Tembalang Semarang. Plan includes training activities carried prongram standby RW healthy soul, detection training healthy family life, families with mental disorders, families with psychosocial risk, families with mental health, mental health counseling, therapeutic group activities, home visit. The approach taken is with intensive discussions, simulation / demonstration skills, role play and visit the house. Evaluation is done by comparing the pre and post test results on any ongoing training. Knowledge and skills of cadres increased in eight training organized team.

Abstract

This paper describes that the children’s speaking ability does not appear suddenly, but through several stages, and it needs to be formed and nurtured from an early age. The children’s speaking ability can also be improved through a variety of ways including through method of role playing. This paper describes and explains the processes adopted to optimize the children’s speaking ability through role playing method. This paper is based on the results of a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in Playgroup of Aisyiyah at Mangli, with the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The Method of role playing improves children's speaking ability, as shown from the scores increasment in pre-cycle which reaches an average of 57, the first cycle of 64.5 and the second cycle of 75.75. The increasment of the speaking ability is followed by children’s attitude changes, are: unembarrassed, speaking expressively, daring to express opinions, expressing various questions, answering multiple questions, and fluently expressing ideas.

Abstract

Berbicara adalah aktivitas mengeluarkan suara dari mulut seseorang guna berkomunikasi dengan orang lain yang melibatkan artikulasi dan kelancaran berupa simbol kata-kata. Kemampuan berbicara pada anak tidak muncul begitu saja, melainkan melalui beberapa tahapan, dan itu perlu dibentuk dan dibina sejak usia dini. Kemampuan berbicara anak itu juga dapat ditingkatkan. Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang peningkatan kemampuan bicara anak melalui metode bercakap-cakap dengan media boneka jari. Kajian ini mendeskripsikan proses peningkatan kemampuan anak berbicara menggunakan metode bercakap-cakap dengan menggunakan model Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dikelompok A3 TK ABA 4 Mangli, dengan tahapan perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi.Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tindakan kolaboratif.Metode bercakap-cakap dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara anak. Dalam ketuntasan pada pra-siklus yang dialami oleh 4 orang anak atau 24%, pada siklus pertama ada 7 orang anak atau 41%, serta pada siklus kedua ada 15 orang anak atau 88%. Metode bercakap-cakap dengan media boneka jari dapat mengubah kegiatan pembelajaran menjadi aktif, kreatif, dan menyenangkan bagi anak, yang akhirnya dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara anak. Begitu juga dalam menjawab beberapa pertanyaan sederhana, terutama yang menggunakan kata Tanya apa, mengapa, dimana, berapa dan bagaimana secara sederhana serta bagaimana anak mampu mengungkapkan pendapat secara sederhana, dan merangkai kata menjadi kalimat sederhana yang bermakna.

Abstract

ABK Autis memiliki hak untuk mendapatkan pendidikan, seperti anak-anak normal. Pendidikan bagi ABK Autis secara khusus disediakan pada Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) bagian B dan Autis. Dalam menjalankan fungsinya lembaga tersebut mengedepankan keterampilan sehingga terwujud pembelajaran yang baik bagi ABK Autis. Realitas yang ada, bahwa SLB-B dan Autis memiliki jumlah guru yang terbatas, sarana dan prasarana yang kurang memadai, serta waktu belajar yang terlalu singkat. Keterbatasanketerbatasan tersebut menyebabkan ketidak optimalan pembelajaran. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan ABK Autis, diperlukan tindakan terapis. Kendala kedua adalah ketidakmampuan orangtua dalam pembiayaan terapis. Berkaitan dengan kendala tersebut, diperlukan suatu upaya untuk membantu pemenuhan kebutuhan ABK Autis. Upaya yang dimaksud adalah melakukan pendampingan orangtua dalam melakukan pembelajaran ABK Autis. Kenyataan bahwa banyak orangtua ABK Autis tidak mampu menangani masalah ini karena tidak punya kemampuan atau informasi yang memadai bagaimana menangani ABK Autis. Kendala tersebut akan bisa teratasi apabila orangtua memiliki kemampuan dalam menangani ABK Autis. Untuk maksud tersebut dibutuhkan pelatihan praktis beserta modul sebagai panduan untuk menangani ABK Autis. Selain itu, penting untuk mewujudkan kerjasama dengan guru SLB bagian B dan Autis dalam upaya pendampingan. Dengan begitu orangtua dapat memenuhi kebutuhan anak Autis setiap hari tanpa perlu mengeluarkan biaya yang relatif tinggi. Program pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di SLB bagian B dan Autis di SLB Bintoro Jember, dengan tujuan membantu masyarakat untuk mendapat informasi bagaimana menangani anak Autis secara dini dengan menggunakan metode praktis berbasis keluarga yang terkoordinasi dan berkelanjutan dengan mengoptimalkan komunitas orangtua ABK Autis. Target kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah: (1) Tersusunnya panduan Terapi Praktis Bagi Keluarga Anak Autis, (2) Orangtua bisa melakukan terapi dasar pada ABK Autis, (3) Terciptanya komunitas orangtua ABK Autis yang terkoordinasi (4) Terwujudnya ABK Autis yang tertangani secara tepat. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan serta menggerakkan partisipasi keluarga atau masyarakat membentuk komunitas untuk peduli dan menangani ABK Autis

Abstract

The implementation of Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) strategy in this research aimed to improve children’s speaking ability. The indicators of speaking ability are child understands the meaning of the word used, able to connect the word to the denoted object, and to pronounce words understood by others. In other word, child is able to repeat sentences, ask questions with the correct sentence, and express opinions to others. This study uses qualitative method with the type of action research. The study was conducted in two cycles, with 3 meetings in each. The design of this study starts from the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants were 17 children aged 4-5 years old of group A1 TK ABA 4 Mangli Kaliwates Jember. The result showed that prior to PECS the children's speaking development rate was 17%, after the PECS action the speaking ability increased from 35% in the first cycle to 88% in second cycle. This shows that the speaking ability of early childhood can be improved with PECS approach.

Abstract

The incidence of hypertension is increasing, followed by high complications and mortality due to hypertension. Blood pressure control is needed to improve the quality of life of hypertensive patients, including non-pharmacological management. One of the non-pharmacological hypertension management is a combination of natural music therapy and rose aromatherapy. The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of combination of natural music therapy and rose aromatherapy on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the Kedungmundu area of Semarang. The research design was Quasy Experiment research, one group pretest and posttest design. Sample of 16 respondents were selected by random sampling. The result showed that the combination of natural music therapy and rose aromatherapy was effective in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients (p value = 0.000). The recommendation of this study is that a combination of natural music therapy and rose aromatherapy can be chosen as an alternative nursing intervention in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive qualitative method with the background of the residents of Mantong Village, Sumbertaman Village, Wonoasih Subdistrict, Probolinggo City with respondents who work as factory workers in Eratex Djaya. Data collection is done by in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study indicate: (1) The implementation of Islamic Education for children in families who work as Eratex Djaya factory workers is influenced by several factors, namely limited time, background knowledge of parents about Islamic religious education, the level of readiness and intelligence of children, and patterns foster care used by parents. (2) The method applied by parents to Islamic education for their children uses several methods including: a) the exemplary method, b) the habituation method. c) Dialogue method d) Penalty method. (3) Problems faced by parents come from two factors, namely a) Internal, namely limited time, and the level of parental education, b) External, namely environmental factors, and mass media / technology.
