Abstract

Religious moderation in the student environment is an urgent need because there are still a number of students who show intolerant behavior. Findings from research conducted by the Center for Islamic and Community Studies (PPIM) at the State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta show that around 30.16 percent of students in Indonesia show intolerant attitudes. Sirojudin, a researcher from PPIM, stated that around one in three students shows symptoms of intolerance(Purnamasari, 2021). Likewise, approaching the 2024 Political Year, it is important to have social media etiquette, with the aim of preventing extreme polarization due to differences in opinion and political preferences becoming increasingly important. The threat of polarization is increasing due to hoax content, disinformation and even slander that can be spread by netizens without accountability. The public is reminded to avoid black campaigns and not spread false information both in the real world and in cyberspace, because this can divide society and threaten harmony among citizens. This article focuses on religious moderation using a Public Relations approach by making students as agents of change. Millennials are more appropriate for campaigning because it suits their group and makes use of social media. Apart from that, students act as Social Control who act as intermediaries between the government and society. The focus of this research is at the Probolinggo Muhammadiyah Islamic High School as a multicultural campus, the majority of students are NU with the aim of inviting the academic community and students to have a moderate attitude. The paradigm used in this research is post-positivistic. Qualitative approach with field research type with case study method. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the success of the Public Relations campaign planning stages carried out by students in supporting the religious moderation campaign and whether the campaign is effective in forming attitudes of religious moderation.

Abstract

This research examines the interpretation of the term "Rahmat" (blessing) according to Ahmad Musthofa Al Maraghi in his Tafsir Al Maraghi. Tafsir Al Maraghi is one of the most renowned contemporary commentaries on the Quran, known for its detailed and profound approach to understanding the Quran and its interpretations. The study aims to analyze the concept of Rahmat as presented in Tafsir Al Maraghi, focusing on the interpretations of several relevant verses. The analysis reveals that in Tafsir Al Maraghi, the term "Rahmat" is interpreted as Allah's mercy towards His servants. This mercy manifests in various forms. Firstly, it is seen as the ultimate reward of paradise, which represents the highest benefit that believers can attain. Secondly, it is understood as the sending of Prophet Muhammad as a messenger with the message of Islam, aimed at bringing benefit to both the world and the hereafter. Thirdly, it is associated with the role of the Prophet Muhammad in guiding humanity, which is a fundamental aspect of his prophethood. Additionally, it is interpreted as paradise again, emphasizing the ultimate reward. Lastly, it is seen as seeking goodness, encouraging actions that lead to a sense of love and compassion among Muslims. This interpretation highlights the multifaceted nature of Allah's mercy in Islam as understood through Tafsir Al Maraghi.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) strategies on the reading comprehension of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students at SMK PGRI 2 Kediri. Students' reading comprehension is often suboptimal, exacerbated by the lack of utilization of SRL. Based on Zimmerman's SRL theory (planning, monitoring, self-evaluation) and Brown's (2004) indicators of reading comprehension, this study aims to test the hypothesis of a significant influence of SRL. Using a quantitative One-Group Pretest-Posttest design, 29 students from class X AK 2 were selected through purposive sampling. The SRL intervention was conducted in two sessions, focusing on training in planning, monitoring, and self-evaluation in reading. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test measures assessing the ability to identify main ideas, vocabulary in context, details, and inferences. Descriptive results showed an increase in the average reading comprehension score from 66.41 (pre-test) to 82.29 (post-test), with the passing rate increasing from 37.93% to 71.4%. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed (p<0.05). Therefore, hypothesis testing used the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, which showed a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05). These results confirmed the rejection of the null hypothesis, proving the positive and significant effect of the SRL strategy on students' reading comprehension. The discussion shows that each phase of SRL contributes to the improvement of specific reading comprehension indicators. This study reinforces the literature supporting the effectiveness of SRL in the context of foreign language learning and provides practical implications for teaching English in senior high school level.
