Abstract

This study was conducted based on the low level of narrative writing skills among elementary school students, which is influenced by less innovative instructional models and low learning motivation. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model and learning motivation on the narrative writing skills of fourth-grade elementary school students. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a 2×2 factorial design. Data were collected through a narrative writing test and a learning motivation questionnaire, and analyzed using t-test and two-way ANOVA. The results showed that students in the PjBL class achieved higher mean scores, with 89.05 for high motivation and 73.15 for low motivation, compared to 80.21 and 52.64 in the conventional class. The ANOVA test indicated no significant interaction (Sig. = 0.537 > 0.05). It can be concluded that PjBL effectively improves narrative writing skills, while motivation acts as an independent factor.

Abstract

The problem underlying this study is that IPAS instruction remains unengaging and difficult for students to understand due to the limited use of interactive learning media, particularly for abstract concepts such as food chains. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using Canva as a learning medium in IPAS instruction on the topic of food chains in fifth-grade elementary school. This study employs a literature review method (library research) by examining various data sources obtained through Google Scholar, SINTA, and relevant national journals over the past ten years. Data collection was conducted through documentary studies, while data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the analysis indicate that the use of Canva can improve student learning outcomes, motivation, and understanding of food chain material through visual and interactive presentations. Additionally, the use of Canva supports the implementation of 21st-century learning through the integration of technology into the learning process. Therefore, Canva can be deemed effective in improving the quality of IPAS learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of digital teaching modules, students’ perceptions, teachers’ readiness, as well as the availability of facilities and infrastructure in science and social studies (IPAS) learning at elementary schools. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. The study was conducted through fieldwork at UPT SDN 04 Jaho, UPTD SDN 05 Sarilamak, and UPT SDN 16 Pulau Karam. The research subjects consisted of teachers from the three schools and 20 third-grade students of UPTD SDN 05 Sarilamak. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, and then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results indicate that digital teaching modules are aligned with the curriculum and are able to present abstract material more concretely through visual media. Students’ perceptions of digital-based learning are generally positive, as reflected in increased interest, motivation, and engagement in learning. The use of digital media also encourages student independence. However, teachers’ readiness remains limited due to a lack of training and varying levels of digital competence. The availability of facilities and infrastructure is also inadequate, such as limited devices and internet access. Efforts that can be made include continuous training, provision of facilities, and the development of flexible offline-based modules.

Abstract

Low learning motivation in Mathematics is a persistent challenge in elementary schools, particularly those with limited digital infrastructure. This study aims to describe how digital teaching modules improve the learning motivation of fourth-grade students at SDN 08 Talamau, Pasaman Barat. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design, data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, with validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. Findings indicate that prior to the intervention, learning was teacher-centered, constrained by limited teacher training since the COVID-19, scarce digital facilities, and recurring power outages. Following the contextual implementation of digital teaching modules, notable improvements were observed across three motivational indicators: attention became more sustained, interest increased as students spontaneously raised questions, and active participation grew through discussion and voluntary engagement. These findings demonstrate that context-sensitive digital teaching modules can serve as an effective strategy to strengthen Mathematics learning motivation in resource-limited elementary schools. This study is limited to a single school with a small sample, restricting generalizability. Future research should employ a mixed-method approach across multiple schools for more comprehensive evidence.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the challenges and obstacles faced by teachers in implementing and preparing learning media in the classroom optimally. The development of information and communication technology drives the transformation of learning toward more interactive, innovative, and student-centered approaches. However, the integration of learning media in the classroom does not always run optimally due to various technical, pedagogical, and human resource limitations. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection through observation, interview, and documentation at Grade IV of SDN 13 Kapalo Koto, Pauh District, Padang City, West Sumatera. The research subjects were Grade IV homeroom teachers selected through purposive sampling. The results show that the main challenges faced by teachers include: (1) low student discipline in using digital devices in the classroom; (2) teachers’ limited time in designing innovative and varied learning media; and (3) lack of variety in learning media use despite the availability of facilities such as laptops, LCD projectors, and speakers. Data analysis was conducted through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and inductive conclusion drawing. This study confirms that the optimization of learning media requires synergy between teachers’ pedagogical competence, effective classroom management strategies, and adequate media variety.
