Abstract

Education as a system demands integration between family, school, and society as formulated in the concept of the Three Centers of Education by Ki Hajar Dewantara. However, the synergy between these three centers of education has not been optimal, resulting in the low quality of national education, as indicated by the fulfillment of the National Education Standards (SNP) and various learning quality indicators. This article aims to analyze education as a system through a study of the role and relationship of the Three Centers of Education in supporting the improvement of national education quality. The study uses a library research approach through a review of academic literature and policy documents that are analyzed descriptively and analytically. The results of the study indicate that the Three Centers of Education are subsystems that are theoretically interrelated and have a strategic role in the development of student competencies. However, structural gaps were found in the form of fragmented roles, weak coordination, and the absence of a standard operational model, which has prevented synergy from being realized systematically. This article emphasizes the need to develop an integrated collaboration model as a conceptual framework to strengthen the national education system and improve education quality sustainably.

Abstract

Social, technological, and global economic transformations in the twenty-first century necessitate a fundamental shift in education from a linear model toward a lifelong and continuous learning orientation. Lifelong education is increasingly recognized as an adaptive strategy to enhance individual and societal readiness in responding to a world characterized by growing complexity and uncertainty. This study aims to examine the role of lifelong education within the framework of twenty-first-century education by emphasizing learning paradigms, the roles of educators and curricula, as well as the integration of technology and social adaptation. The research employs a qualitative approach through a literature-based study of academic books and peer-reviewed journal articles relevant to twenty-first-century education and lifelong learning. The findings indicate that lifelong education contributes significantly to the strengthening of competencies, digital literacy, soft skills, and character development, while fostering an adaptive learning culture. This transformation reaffirms education as a strategic, life-long process in the development of globally competitive human resources.

Abstract

Cooperative Learning has been proven effective in improving the quality of education, especially at the elementary school level. One popular cooperative learning model is the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) method. This method provides students with the opportunity to think independently, discuss with a partner, and share their thoughts with the larger group. This study aims to explore the optimization of the implementation of the TPS method in enhancing the cognitive and social abilities of elementary school students. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study analyzes how the implementation of TPS can affect students' understanding of the material as well as their social skills. The results indicate that the application of the TPS method not only improves students' cognitive abilities, such as mastery of subject matter and critical thinking skills, but also strengthens their social skills in interacting, communicating, and collaborating with classmates. This study recommends the integration of the TPS method into elementary school teaching practices to maximize students' potential in various aspects, both cognitive and social.

Abstract

Many institutions or individuals use religious symbols or attributes, but the attitudes they display are often counterproductive to what they represent, including in matters of cleanliness. This research investigates the correlation between education on cleanliness (thaharah) and the health behavior of students in two Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), one urban and one suburban. Based on data analysis using two-way ANOVA, the research reveals that there are differences in the influence of cleanliness education between the two Islamic boarding schools and between male and female students. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between education on cleanliness and students’ health behavior in both Islamic boarding schools when viewed from the perspective of gender.

Abstract

The transformation of religious authority in Indonesian pesantrens has significant implications for fanaticism and intellectual freedom. Using a hermeneutic-critical approach and Foucauldian discourse analysis, the kyai–santri relationship is interpreted as a practice of power and knowledge that shapes religious truth while reproducing hierarchical epistemic structures. Findings indicate that pesantren authority serves a dual function: preserving Islamic scholarly and moral traditions while potentially constraining students’ intellectual autonomy through epistemic compliance. The symbolic representation of kyais in modern media, along with students' subtle forms of resistance, signals a shift from charismatic-hierarchical authority to a participatory model. Pedagogical and curricular strategies such as dialogic learning, reflective halaqah, problem-based learning, and the integration of critical Islamic traditions—such as ijtihad and munāẓarah—are recommended to support this transition. By combining Foucault’s theory of power and knowledge with the principle of intellectual freedom in Islamic epistemology, a humanistic and emancipatory framework for Islamic education is presented. This approach positions pesantrens not merely as guardians of religious orthodoxy but as reflective learning spaces that foster critical awareness, ethical dialogue, and participatory spirituality within contemporary Muslim communities

Abstract

The development of modern technology has brought major changes in human life, not only in practical aspects such as communication and access to information, but also affecting the moral and spiritual dimensions of humans. Fast-paced modernity encourages a culture of instant gratification, efficiency, and dependence on digital systems, thus triggering ethical problems such as individualism, the spread of hoaxes, the collapse of privacy, and the weakening of empathy. From a philosophical perspective, this phenomenon is understood through Heidegger's concept of das Gestell, a technological way of thinking that reduces humans to objects, and Zygmunt Bauman's view of liquid modernity, a social era that is fluid and lacks moral certainty. In the context of Islamic ethics, technological advances demand a reaffirmation of moral and spiritual values as the foundation of morality. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive-analytical and philosophical approach to examine the dynamics of human moral change and the relevance of contemporary Islamic ethics in responding to this crisis. Research sources include classical and modern literature, as well as normative texts from the Qur'an and Hadith. The study's findings indicate that moral decline in the digital age is related to technological, socio-cultural, and structural changes in human consciousness. Islamic ethics, through the concepts of insan kamil (the perfect human being), akhlak al-karimah (the noble character), and maqāṣid al-shari'ah (the principles of Islamic law), offers a value framework that balances technological progress with human well-being. This research confirms that revitalizing Islamic ethics can be a crucial solution for maintaining moral integrity, strengthening responsibility, and guiding technological development so that it remains aligned with humanitarian and spiritual values.

Abstract

The development of science and technology in the current era has resulted in significant transformations in the world of education, but often shifts attention to intellectual achievement (IQ) without paying attention to the formation of moral and spiritual character. This situation requires a change in the educational paradigm to balance the development of intelligence and ethical values. This study aims to explore in depth the principles, concepts, and relevance of Islamic humanism to the formation of student character, as well as its application in the context of modern education. The methodology applied is a literature review with an analytical-philosophical approach to analyze the concept of Islamic Humanism as a philosophical basis in education. The research findings indicate that Islamic humanism, which emphasizes humanitarian values based on Islamic teachings, serves as a foundation of values that align the development of science with faith and morality. This paradigm is relevant for: 1) Internalizing moral values amidst technological advancements, 2) Avoiding moral crises and the loss of humanity, and 3) Strengthening student identity. The conclusion confirms that Islamic humanism is an important philosophical basis for developing students into perfect human beings who are intellectually superior, have noble character, and have good morals.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of the principles of Islamic Educational Philosophy to the process of democratization of education in Indonesia. The democratization of education is understood as an effort to create equal access and learning opportunities for all citizens, in line with the values of justice, equality, deliberation, and respect for human dignity, which are fundamental principles in Islamic teachings. Using qualitative research methods with a library study, this study examines literature related to the concept of democratization of education, the values of Islamic educational philosophy, and various problems in implementing democratization in Indonesia. The results show that the democratization of education in Indonesia still faces obstacles in the form of unequal access, an authoritarian learning culture, a mismatch between policy and implementation, the challenges of the digital era, and the degradation of moral and spiritual values. The principles of Islamic education such as monotheism, shura, justice, moderation, and the obligation to seek knowledge offer a philosophical and normative foundation to strengthen the democratization of education to be more inclusive, humanistic, and oriented towards character building. This study confirms that the integration of Islamic values in the national education system can be a solution in realizing education that is fair, participatory, and relevant to current developments.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of the Perennialism educational philosophy in character development for students in the rapidly changing digital era. Perennialism is based on timeless universal values such as honesty, responsibility, wisdom, and justice, which, according to Taufik Nurrochman (2023), are the primary foundation for developing moral character. Findings by Suharyanto H. Soro (2024) indicate that integrating these values through habituation, teacher role models, and spiritual strengthening can increase students' moral resilience. Other studies, such as those by Afiyah (2020) and Liviani (2023), confirm that the application of noble values through learning, religious environments, and social practices has a significant impact on character development. Amidst the challenges of the digital era, such as the flood of information, the influence of social media, and the ethical crisis, Perennialism is seen as an approach capable of restoring the moral orientation of education. This approach offers a combination of intellectual acuity, moral discipline, and spiritual depth, as explained by Ummi Puji Astutik (2023). Thus, the application of Perennialism in education not only prepares students academically but also shapes them into complete human beings capable of adhering to eternal values in the face of modern dynamics.
