Abstract

This research aims to contribute to modern business, new work systems, and industrial relations. This research is a longitudinal study involving manufacturing companies. Researchers collected data at two different periods. Researchers surveyed by sending a questionnaire to the company's human resources managers. Research findings show a reasonably strong relationship between implementing new work practices and better company results. However, according to the dominant theory, this result does not always occur in every case. These results indicate a greater focus on small businesses, which play a significant role in the fabric industry. The third result shows the durability or sustainability of individual practices. These new practices have proven effective in improving company performance, which may be why groups are more confident implementing them. Discriminant analysis reveals that firms' structural and market characteristics account for most of the variability in their orientation toward organizational innovation. The intensity of relationships with other companies positively correlates with using new work practices, mainly if the company operates internationally. The competition level in the company's market is also related to the use of new work practices and intense, innovative activities, especially those related to technology and the coordination of activities within the organization, such as information technology.

Abstract

Abstract

Equal access to education remains a challenge in Indonesia, especially in remote areas with limited information technology (IT) infrastructure. This study analyzes IT infrastructure management strategies to enhance education access using a literature review and qualitative methods. Data from Google Scholar and relevant websites (2018–2025) were rigorously selected, narrowing 40 articles to 18. Findings highlight key challenges: limited internet connectivity, insufficient digital devices, low digital literacy among educators, and suboptimal government policies. To address these, strategies include expanding satellite-based internet, partnering with the private sector for device provision, community-based teacher training, and empowering local communities in technology use. The government plays a crucial role in developing integrated, region-specific policies to ensure sustainable education digitalization. A comprehensive strategy is essential to reducing disparities in education access and achieving a more equitable distribution of education quality across Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

Rapid urbanization has pushed cities in Indonesia to face complex challenges related to infrastructure capacity, public services, and urban governance. Smart cities are seen as a strategic solution to build efficient, adaptive, and sustainable cities through the use of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and big data. However, the implementation of smart cities in Indonesia still faces various obstacles, including digital infrastructure inequality, low human resource capacity, and weak institutional coordination. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach and a SWOT analysis framework to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the implementation of smart cities in urban areas in Indonesia. Data were obtained from policy literature studies, national and international agency reports, and smart city project documentation. The results of the study show that the success of smart cities is highly dependent on the synergy between infrastructure readiness, utilization of technological opportunities, and mitigation of socio-technological risks. Policies are needed that encourage cross-sector collaboration, citizen data protection, and strengthening digital literacy and local capacity. With a participatory approach and inclusive governance, smart cities can be an instrument for transforming cities that are not only technologically modern, but also socially just and sustainable in the long term.
