Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability in mathematical literacy problems solving in terms of Emotional Intelligence (EI) of class X students of Senior High School 4 Maros. This research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The research subjects were taken purposively, namely 1 each from category of emotional intelligence. The instruments in this study is namely EI questionnaires, mathematical literacy tests, and interview guidelines. The indicators used consist of 6 levels of ability in solving PISA mathematical literacy problems according to the OECD. The results showed that: 1) Optimal category students are able to answer questions in a general context, addition to extracting relevant information, performed procedures applied simple problem-solving strategies, and conceptualized. 2) Special category students are able to answer questions in a general context, extract relevant information, carry out procedures sequentially, apply simple problem-solving strategies and conceptualize. 3) Vulnerable category students are able to answer questions in a general context, extract relevant information, carry out procedures sequentially, implement simple problem-solving strategies, and work effectively by involving assumptions. 4) Need alert category students are able to answer questions in a general context

Abstract

This research aims to analyze students’ errors and the factor that cause students’ errors in solving problem of two-variabel linear equations system in terms of student achievement. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were class IX students of SMP Negeri 26 Makassar consisting of 9 people, namely three students with high learning achievement in mathematics, three students with moderate learning achievement, and three students with low learning achievement. Researchers took three people subject for each category with the consideration that tree people are enough to answer research purpose. The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling because the researcher took the subject based on the criteria set by the researcher. This determination carried out in accordance with the consideration that the sample taken canrepresent the population. Data collection techniques in this study were written tests and interviews. Data analysis techniques include data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: (1) the mistakes made by students with high mathematics achievement were wrong in understanding the questions, students were wrong in making mathematical models, and wrong in completing mathematical models; (2) students with mathematics learning achievements are making mistakes in understanding the questions, students are wrong in making mathematical models, and are wrong in completing mathematical models, and the final results are wrong; (3) students with learning achievement low mathematics make mistakes in understanding the questions, students make mistakes in making mathematical models, and wrong in completing mathematical models. The factors that cause student errors in solving SPLDV material questions include students being in a hurry so they are not careful in working on questions, difficulty finding words to be used as examples, misconceptions occur, wrong writing, difficulty understanding the meaning of the sentence proposed in the problem, lack of mastery of algebraic arithmetic operations, lack of mastery of SPLDV solving steps , lack of practice word problems, lack of mastery of the methods used in solving SPLDV questions, and as a result of errors in the previous step.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) abilities of students in the Teaching Practice Program (PPL) of the Mathematics Education Study Program at the State University of Makassar, specifically in integrating content knowledge, pedagogy, and technology in teaching practices. The study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive design to describe the level of TPACK mastery among the students. Data were collected from 30 students through a questionnaire designed to measure the three main aspects of TPACK: content knowledge (CK), pedagogical knowledge (PK), and technological knowledge (TK), as well as the students' ability to combine these three aspects in planning and implementing mathematics teaching. The results show that the students in the PPL Program of the PPG Study Program demonstrated good TPACK knowledge, as indicated by scores where 53% of students were in the high category and 47% in the medium category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' difficulties in solving exponential problems in terms of student learning styles. The type of research used is qualitative research. There are 6 research subjects, namely two students with visual learning style, two students with auditory learning style, and two students with kinesthetic learning style. Data collection techniques in this study are questionnaires, tests and interviews. The instruments used are learning style questionnaires, exponential mathematical ability tests, and interviews. The results showed that students with visual learning styles had fewer difficulties in understanding concepts, applying principles and stages of arithmetic operations. Students with auditory learning style have more difficulty in understanding concepts, applying principles and stages of arithmetic operations. Students with kinesthetic learning style have less difficulty in understanding concepts while more difficulties in applying the principles and stages of arithmetic operations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the application of the guided inquiry learning model on critical thinking skills in terms of self-esteem. The sampling technique in this study used a random sampling technique and the number of samples was 26 students. Data collection techniques are using test and non-test instruments. The instruments used are tests of students' critical thinking skills, self-esteem questionnaires, and learning implementation observation sheets. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics with simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that: (1) The application of the guided inquiry learning model had no effect on the critical thinking skills of students in the SER category (low self-esteem), (2) The application of the guided inquiry learning model had an effect of 27.3% on the critical thinking skills of students in the SES category ( moderate self-esteem), and (2) the application of the guided inquiry learning model has an effect of 82.8% on the critical thinking ability of students in the SET category (high self-esteem).

Abstract

This research aims to know the effect of school climate on Indonesian Students’ mathematical literacy skills based on PISA 2018. This research is a causal-comparative research. The population in this research were all 12098 Indonesian students who took part in the 2018 PISA survey. The data was collected by literature study technique. The data were analyzed with regression analysis. The results showed that there was a significant effect between the variables of bullying, student truancy and lateness, competition, co-operation, and sense of belonging at school separately on mathematical literacy skills. As for the variables of teacher behavior and parental participation, both separately do not have a significant effect on mathematical literacy skills. The school climate as a whole has a significant effect on Indonesian students’ mathematical literacy skills based on PISA 2018.
