Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the traditional dhakon game and its impact on the cognitive and social-emotional development of early childhood at TK Pertiwi 5B. The main problem underlying this research is the low concentration of children, lack of basic counting skills, and the high level of egocentrism due to excessive smartphone use at home. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative with field research methods. The research subjects consisted of the Principal, classroom teachers, and 15 children of Group B at TK Pertiwi 5B. Data collection techniques were carried out purely through direct observation and in-depth interviews. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, while data validity was tested using source triangulation. The results showed that the consistent implementation of the traditional dhakon game was proven to be highly effective in shifting children's dependence on smartphones and providing balanced stimulation. Children's development experienced a significant increase, where they are now able to recognize number symbols in a fun way, become more focused, honest, orderly queue waiting for their turn, and control emotions by accepting defeat gracefully. In conclusion, habituation through concrete traditional game media can effectively shape children's logical thinking and positive character from an early age.

Abstract

Character education is an important aspect of the educational process that aims to develop students who possess noble character, are responsible, disciplined, and caring toward their social environment. This study aims to analyze the implementation of character education through the development of school culture at SMA IT Annas 1 Mandai Maros. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, vice principal, teachers, and students. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that character education is implemented through the school culture, which encompasses religious practices, teacher role modeling, the enforcement of discipline, a culture of literacy, environmental awareness, and extracurricular activities. The character values developed include religiosity, discipline, creativity, a spirit of nationalism, a love of reading, and environmental awareness. Supporting factors include teacher competence, school leadership, adequate facilities and infrastructure, and collaboration among the entire school community. Hindering factors include differences in student character, limited instructional time, and the influence of the environment outside of school. This study concludes that school culture serves as an effective medium for developing students’ character in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on students' learning motivation in the subject of Islamic Religious Education in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Pattallassang, Gowa Regency. The study used a quantitative approach with an associative research type. The study population was 108 class VIII students, while the sample was 52 students determined using the Slovin formula with a simple random sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires and documentation. The research instrument was first tested for validity and reliability, then the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics through normality tests, linearity tests, homogeneity tests, simple linear regression, t-tests, and coefficients of determination (R²). The results of the study showed that emotional intelligence had a positive and significant effect on students' learning motivation. This was evidenced by the results of the regression test which obtained a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, so that the research hypothesis was accepted. The t-test results show a calculated t-value of 7.442, which is greater than the t-table of 2.006 (7.442 > 2.006), which indicates a significant influence between emotional intelligence and students' learning motivation. In addition, the results of the coefficient of determination (R²) test show a value of 0.526, which means that emotional intelligence contributes 52.6% to students' learning motivation, while the remaining 47.4% is influenced by other factors outside the study. Thus, the higher the emotional intelligence of students, the higher their learning motivation. The results of this study are expected to be input for teachers in developing learning strategies that are not only oriented towards cognitive aspects, but also pay attention to the development of students' emotional aspects in order to increase learning motivation.

Abstract

Early reading skill is a foundational literacy capability in primary education. However, many first-grade students still experience difficulties in mastering basic reading due to unstimulating visual media during instruction. This study aims to analyze the improvement of early reading skills among first-grade students at SDN 024 Salupaku through the implementation of picture media (Big Book). A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and McTaggart model was conducted with 25 first-grade students (10 males and 15 females) as research subjects. Data were collected using performance tests, systematic observations, and audio-visual recordings, then analyzed through descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques. The findings revealed a significant enhancement in student reading performance across cycles. In Cycle I, the average class score reached 73.4 with a classical completeness rate of 64% (moderate category), which failed to meet the target minimum indicator of 75%. Following refined interventions in Cycle II, the average class score increased to 89.72 with a 100% classical completeness rate (very high category). The evaluation across four key parameters pronunciation, intonation, fluency, and voice clarity demonstrated substantial progress. It is concluded that the implementation of picture media effectively enhances the early reading skills of first-grade elementary students

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran busana sebagai simbol status sosial Muslim pribumi pada awal abad ke-20 di Hindia Belanda. Fokus kajian diarahkan pada bagaimana pilihan, bentuk, dan gaya berpakaian menjadi representasi identitas, hierarki sosial, serta respons terhadap pengaruh politik dan budaya kolonial. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis historis-kultural dengan menelaah arsip kolonial, foto-foto dokumenter, catatan perjalanan, dan karya sastra sezaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa busana tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai penutup tubuh, tetapi juga sebagai penanda kelas sosial, keislaman, dan afiliasi politik. Pengaruh kolonial memunculkan diferensiasi yang jelas antara pakaian golongan bangsawan, ulama, pedagang, dan rakyat, baik melalui bahan, warna, maupun aksesori yang dikenakan. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa busana berperan sebagai media komunikasi non-verbal yang kompleks, mencerminkan dinamika interaksi antara budaya pribumi, Islam, dan kekuasaan kolonial.
