Abstract

Background: Paraplegia caused by spinal cord compression is a rare but serious condition that can occur in cancer patients, including metastasis from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Hepatocellular carcinoma metastasis to the spine can compress the spinal cord, disrupt nerve function, and lead to motor and sensory impairment in the lower limbs, ultimately resulting in paraplegia. Case: An 86-year-old man presented with progressive weakness in both lower limbs. He had not previously complained of weakness; his family attributed it to the natural effects of old age. However, the patient frequently complained of low back pain that did not improve with analgesics. Further investigation of the lesion revealed sensory impairment equivalent to the T8 dermatome. A complete physical examination showed an enlarged liver without stigmata of liver disease. CT scan revealed an extradural lesion at the T4 region and a compression fracture at the T8 region. The patient then underwent ultrasonography (USG), which identified a hepatoma suggestive of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Discussion: Spinal cord compression as an initial presentation of HCC is uncommon and often delays diagnosis, especially in the absence of typical liver symptoms. MRI played a key role in identifying the extradural mass. Early recognition and management are crucial in preventing irreversible neurological damage. Treatment may include corticosteroids, radiotherapy, or surgery to relieve symptoms and improve quality of life; however, the prognosis remains poor without prompt intervention. Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of early detection and comprehensive management in cases of paraplegia due to HCC metastasis to minimize neurological complications and improve patient survival.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menguraikan fungsi tindak tutur illokusioner yang disampaikan penutur kepada lawan tutur dalam interaksi, ditinjau dari perspektif pragmatik khususnya tindak tutur illokusioner. Pendekatan kualitatif dipilih karena data penelitian berupa percakapan antarkarakter dalam bentuk dialog. Sumber data penelitian adalah film Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck yang disutradarai oleh Sunil Soraya. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan pencatatan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan metode padanan. Temuan mengenai fungsi tutur dianalisis berdasarkan teori Leech. Menurut Leech, tindak tutur illokusioner dibagi menjadi empat tipe yang dijadikan data, berjumlah 38 potong data. Ke-39  data tersebut terklasifikasi menjadi 5 data kompetitif, 5 konvivial, 14 kolaboratif, dan 5 konfliktif. Selain itu, film Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck mengajarkan bahwa cinta sejati melampaui batas agama, ras, dan budaya. Namun, dalam mengejar cinta, seseorang tetap harus menjunjung nilai-nilai baik dalam hidup serta menjaga kehormatan diri dan keluarga.

Abstract

Kemajuan dalam teknologi data mining membuka peluang signifikan bagi organisasi untuk mengambil keputusan yang berbasis pada data, terutama dalam mengungkap pola perilaku pelanggan. Studi ini bertujuan menerapkan algoritma K-Means Clustering guna melakukan segmentasi pelanggan di Mall XYZ, dengan fokus pada dua variabel kunci: pendapatan tahunan dan skor belanja. Pendekatan ini memungkinkan pihak manajemen mall merancang strategi pemasaran yang lebih terarah dan efisien. Dataset yang digunakan telah melalui proses normalisasi menggunakan Standard Scaler, sehingga memastikan kedua fitur berada dalam skala yang sebanding. Jumlah klaster optimal ditentukan melalui metode elbow berdasarkan nilai inertia, yang menghasilkan lima kelompok pelanggan. Hasil analisis mengungkap keberadaan segmen pelanggan bernilai tinggi yaitu mereka yang memiliki pendapatan dan frekuensi belanja tinggi yang memberikan kontribusi besar terhadap pendapatan mall. Di sisi lain, juga ditemukan segmen dengan potensi pengembangan, seperti pelanggan berpendapatan tinggi namun jarang berbelanja, yang dapat dimaksimalkan melalui pendekatan pemasaran yang tepat. Analisis centroid setiap klaster memungkinkan perancangan strategi khusus, seperti program loyalitas untuk pelanggan premium, promosi produk eksklusif, atau insentif harga bagi segmen yang sensitif terhadap biaya. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa K-Means Clustering efektif dalam mengelompokkan pelanggan berdasarkan pola konsumsi, sehingga memberikan dasar strategis untuk meningkatkan pendapatan dan memperkuat loyalitas pelanggan.

Abstract

Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat or PkM) is one of the three core responsibilities (Tridharma) of higher education in Indonesia, alongside education and research. However, many lecturers especially those new to academia face difficulties in identifying suitable community partners. This study addresses that issue through the design of a digital platform called “Abdimas”, intended to function as a marketplace system for matching lecturers with PkM partners. Applying the Design Thinking methodology, focusing on the conceptual and architectural design of the “Abdimas” platform, this study implemented a user-centered design approach. Data from interviews with lecturers, partners, and university administrators were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify core requirements. Based on these findings, the system was designed to support lecturer registration, partner discovery, and need-based matching. Senior lecturers are also supported in exploring new, underserved areas, while partners can publicly express their needs to attract suitable academic collaborators. University administrators can monitor the distribution of PkM activities over time to ensure equity and effectiveness. Unlike existing administrative platforms that often function as one-way reporting tools, the “Abdimas” marketplace introduces a bidirectional matching mechanism that allows partners to actively broadcast their specific community needs, bridging the information gap for lecturers. The system design includes use case diagrams, UI/UX prototypes, an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD), and blackbox test scenarios to validate functionality. Although still in the design phase (Version 0.0), “Abdimas” has the potential to scale beyond academic users by supporting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and facilitating student-level community services. This research contributes a structured and scalable system design to improve collaboration and outreach in community service programs within higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the paradox of law enforcement regarding exemption clauses in Indonesia, strengthening the analysis from the perspective of fiqh siyasah (Islamic political jurisprudence) concerning the role of the state in guaranteeing substantive justice and protecting the rights of the mustadh'afin (consumers). The research critiques the inconsistency in judicial interpretation and the tension between the principle of contractual freedom and consumer protection, despite the Consumer Protection Law explicitly prohibiting businesses from exempting themselves from liability. Based on a comparison of pivotal court decisions, such as Decision Number 385/Pdt.G/2019/PN.Sby and Decision Number 334 PK/Pdt/2014, this normative legal research employs legislative, case, and conceptual approaches. The findings reveal that the strict liability principle—designed to strengthen consumers' bargaining position and eliminate the burden of proving fault—is often disregarded by judges who still adhere to classical principles from the Civil Code. From a fiqh siyasah perspective, this inconsistency reflects the state's failure (through the judiciary) to fulfill its duty as the protector of the people (ri'ayah) and the enforcer of public welfare (jalb al-mashalih), especially in addressing structural imbalances between businesses and consumers. Consequently, exemption clauses remain prevalent in sectors such as banking, transportation, insurance, and digital services. The study concludes that harmonizing judicial practices with consumer protection norms must be based on the principles of substantive justice and the state's moral responsibility (mas'uliyyah daulah) in preventing systemic injustice, which is the essence of siyasah syar'iyyah in regulating contractual relationships. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji paradoks penegakan hukum terhadap klausula eksonerasi di Indonesia, dengan memperkuat analisis dari perspektif fiqih siyasah mengenai peran negara dalam menjamin keadilan substantif dan melindungi hak-hak mustadh’afin (konsumen). Studi ini mengkritisi inkonsistensi penafsiran hakim dan ketegangan antara asas kebebasan berkontrak dan perlindungan konsumen, meskipun Undang-Undang Perlindungan Konsumen secara tegas melarang pelaku usaha membebaskan diri dari tanggung jawab. Berdasarkan perbandingan putusan-putusan penting, seperti Putusan Nomor 385/Pdt.G/2019/PN.Sby dan Putusan Nomor 334 PK/Pdt/2014, penelitian normatif dengan pendekatan perundang-undangan, kasus, dan konseptual ini menunjukkan bahwa prinsip strict liability—yang dirancang untuk memperkuat posisi konsumen—sering diabaikan oleh hakim yang masih berpegang pada asas klasik Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Perdata. Dalam perspektif fiqih siyasah, inkonsistensi ini mencerminkan kegagalan negara (melalui kekuasaan kehakiman) dalam menjalankan tugasnya sebagai pelindung rakyat (ri’ayah) dan penegak kemaslahatan (jalb al-mashalih), terutama dalam mengatasi ketimpangan struktural antara pelaku usaha dan konsumen. Implikasinya, klausula eksonerasi tetap marak di sektor perbankan, transportasi, asuransi, dan layanan digital. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa harmonisasi antara praktik peradilan dan norma perlindungan konsumen harus didasarkan pada prinsip keadilan substantif serta tanggung jawab moral negara (mas'uliyyah daulah) dalam mencegah kedzaliman sistemik, sebagaimana menjadi esensi dari siyasah syar’iyyah dalam pengaturan hubungan kontraktual.

Abstract

Food rotting is one of the many research topics that electronic nose technology can be used to target. This study examined the electronic nose capacity to detect the presence of Colletotrichum musae, the causative agent of anthracnose fruit rots on bananas using gas sensors by detecting the concentration of volatile compound. C. musae was identified visually and microscopically. Detached-fruit assay method was used in this experiment. A conidial fungal suspension at a concentration of 2.5 × 106 conidia/ml was injected into nine replication of homogenous banana samples, while nine other samples were injected with sterile aquadest served as negative controls. The information obtained from the electronic nose was analyzed using principal component analysis (PCA). The results showed that from six gas sensors used in the electronic nose, MQ-4, MQ-5, and MQ-8 were the gas sensors that have detected significant difference between the infected banana and the control with a concentration value of 166.83, 173.02, and 87.40 ppm in banana infected with C. musae and 20.90, 0.01, and 44.97 ppm in controls. Therefore, this three sensor can be used as a reference for detecting anthracnose disease in bananas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kinerja kepemimpinan dan budaya data terhadap kinerja organisasi, dengan peran mediasi kualitas perencanaan strategis di Kantor Pelayanan Investasi dan Terpadu Satu Pintu (DPM-PTSP). Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada pentingnya penguatan manajemen kinerja di sektor publik, di mana organisasi dituntut tidak hanya menghasilkan hasil pelayanan tetapi juga menunjukkan akuntabilitas dan perencanaan berbasis data. Kepemimpinan kinerja dan budaya data dipandang sebagai faktor kunci yang dapat mendorong kualitas perencanaan dan pada akhirnya meningkatkan kinerja organisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksploratif. Data dikumpulkan melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada pegawai negeri sipil yang terlibat dalam proses perencanaan, implementasi, dan evaluasi kinerja organisasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan metode Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan kinerja dan budaya data memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kualitas perencanaan strategis serta kinerja organisasi. Kualitas perencanaan strategis juga terbukti memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap kinerja organisasi dan bertindak sebagai mediator dalam hubungan antara kinerja kepemimpinan dan budaya data dengan kinerja organisasi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kinerja organisasi publik memerlukan integrasi antara kepemimpinan yang berorientasi pada kinerja, budaya kerja berbasis data, dan perencanaan strategis yang berkualitas. Implikasi dari studi ini menegaskan pentingnya penguatan praktik manajemen kinerja dan tata kelola berbasis data dalam organisasi publik untuk mendorong kinerja yang lebih efektif, terukur, dan akuntabel.

Abstract

The development of automotive technology continuously seeks solutions to improve human mobility and address environmental concerns. This study focuses on the Hydrogen Reactor (HHO) technology as an alternative solution for fuel efficiency and emission reduction, specifically examining the legal protection of consumers utilizing this technology at Bengkel Karya Gemilang. The research aims to analyze the legal framework of consumer protection in the context of new energy-saving technologies and to identify the legal responsibilities of business actors (workshops) and the rights of consumers. Employing a normative legal research method with a case study approach, the study analyzes the implementation of Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection (UUPK) in the utilization of HHO reactors. The findings indicate that while the HHO reactor technology offers a potential 5-15% increase in fuel efficiency and CO emission reduction, its implementation introduces new legal challenges, particularly regarding product safety, standardization, and the obligation for periodic servicing. Consumer protection is primarily ensured through the workshop’s obligation to provide clear product explanations, guarantee product safety, and fulfill the periodic service commitment. The study concludes that the existing UUPK provides a sufficient legal basis, but its implementation requires clear and transparent agreements, especially concerning the technical specifications and long-term maintenance of the HHO reactor, to ensure consumer rights are fully protected against potential risks associated with new, non-standardized automotive technologies.

Abstract

Employee disengagement has risen to prominence in Indonesia, where the realization of working across big cities and rural areas causes stress on both managers and employees. Disengagement undermines retention and has a negative impact on productivity at a time when our national economy is changing rapidly, so this topic is worth the time and attention it deserves. The present study investigates the impact of job satisfaction, directive leadership, and empowering leadership on disengagement among employees. It also evaluates whether workload modifies the magnitude of the relationship between disengagement and satisfaction in urban and regional workplaces. Using a quantitative design, the study collected survey data from 500 employees who were purposefully chosen to work in a variety of industries in both major cities and rural areas. The period of data collection in 2024 was May through August. Partial Least Squares structural equation modelling was employed in the analysis to investigate the correlations between the variables. The findings indicate that while directive leadership tends to increase disengagement, empowering leadership significantly reduces it. One important protective factor that lowers disengagement is job satisfaction.  Only empowering leadership shows a clear and consistent correlation with reduced disengagement, even though both directive and empowering leadership increase satisfaction. The analysis also reveals that workload moderates the influence of job satisfaction. There are diminishing returns to having happier employees when they’re overworked, and this dynamic is stronger in urban, compared with rural regional settings. Furthermore, incorporating workload as a moderating variable in an urban and regional setting of the study in a developing economy is a contribution. This shows that in order for job satisfaction to further enhance employee engagement, the role clarity, empowerment, and workload should be encouraged by the organization, with emphasis on the heavy demand of employees' energy use in large cities.

Abstract

This study examines the construction of national identity in indigenous peoples in Indonesia. This national identity is a form of social identity or collective identification which describes the attachment of group members to the state expressed with a sense of belonging, love, loyalty, pride, and protection of the group and its homeland. This national identity discourse is often an issue that is vulnerable to being discussed and debated in a society that has its own peculiarities such as indigenous peoples. These indigenous people have cultural identities, value systems and knowledge, living areas, and ways of interacting which are often different from other communities, so that they need different treatment in terms of building their national identity.
