Abstract

Understanding the human soul has become a popular subject among Muslim and Western philosophers. In Western thought, it is interpreted that the soul and spirit are one and the same entity. There is no distinction between the two. However, this differs from the perspective of Muslim philosophers, as explained by Ibn Arabi, who posited that the soul and spirit are distinct, with the spirit being the source of human life inseparable from the body. This paper aims to fortify the spirit. The research employs a descriptive and analytical methodology from Ibn Arabi's viewpoint. Using this method, we can draw several conclusions: Firstly, Ibn Arabi's understanding of the soul is that it is the essence of a human being, inseparable from the soul. Secondly, there are three elements to strengthen the spirit: self-reflection (muhasabah), purification of the self (tazkiyyatun nafs), and striving (mujahadah). Thirdly, after undergoing this strengthening process, it culminates in a state of happiness brought about by the fortification of the spirit.

Abstract

The Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Lane (ALKI) 1 is a strategic international route that is vulnerable to maritime and air security threats. The limitations of conventional surveillance systems such as patrol vessels and manned aircraft highlight the need for more effective technologies, one of which is the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). This study aims to analyze the impact of UAV integration on the effectiveness of sea and air access control in the ALKI 1 region. The research method employed is quantitative research with 50 respondents consisting of Navy (TNI AL), Air Force (TNI AU) personnel, and related stakeholders. The independent variable is UAV integration, while the dependent variable is control effectiveness. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through validity and reliability tests as well as simple linear regression. The results show that all instruments are valid and reliable, with a total Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.889. Linear regression produced the equation Y = 7.842 + 0.684X, with R² = 0.572, indicating that 57.2% of the variation in control effectiveness is explained by UAV integration. The t-test (t-count 7.685 > t-table 2.011; p=0.000) and F-test (F-count 59.05 > F-table 4.04; p=0.000) confirm a significant partial and simultaneous influence. Thus, UAV integration enhances early detection, rapid response, operational efficiency, and inter-service coordination, making it a strategic instrument in safeguarding security and sovereignty along the ALKI 1 route.

Abstract

Biodiesel is an environmentally friendly alternative fuels. The price of biodiesel is still relatively expensive due to the high price of raw materials. Thus, cheaper raw materials such as used cooking oils can be used. Used cooking oils can be used to produce biodiesel by transesterification reaction using alcohol and catalyst. The effect of temperature on the conversion was studied in this research. The research was carried out in batch at various temperatures of 45, 55 and 65 oC by reacting used cooking oil and bioethanol with catalyst K2CO3/γ-Al2O3. The ratio of used cooking oil and bioethanol is 1:9 and the concentration of catalyst is 3%. The reaction was run for 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, and 120 minutes, then the biodiesel was separated from the catalyst and glycerol. Furthermore, the biodiesel samples were analyzed by GC-MS to determine the alkyl ester content. The result showed that the highest conversion was 86.39% at 65oC. The biodiesel product complies with SNI 7182:2015, with a density of 871.7 kg/m3, kinematic viscosity of 4.82 mm2/s, flash point of 176oC, cloud point of 9oC, copper plate corrosion number 1, acid number 0.39 mg-KOH/g, total glycerol 0.16%, and ester content 98.3%.

Abstract

High salinity is a challenging environmental stressor for organisms to adapt to. In this work, the effects of added NaCl and KCl at various concentrations (0, 100 mM, and 200 mM) for 13 days in the growth medium were investigated in relation to the physiological, morphological, and proximate content of Euglena sp. Utilizing gas chromatography (GC), the amount of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) was determined. Euglena sp. exhibited an obvious decline in growth rate and photosynthetic pigment with increasing salinity. Biomass, protein, carbohydrates had the highest quantities in KCl 100 mM medium, measuring 0.586 ± 0.096 mg/mL, 0.050 ± 0.00017 mg/mL, and 968.091 ± 81.197 mg/mL, respectively. The treatment with 200 mM NaCl had the highest lipid content, with a lipid concentration of 0.42 ± 0.060 mg/mL. After being cultivated in NaCl and KCl at a 200 mM concentration, respectively, the amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) declined and the amount of saturated fatty acids (SFAs) increased in Euglena sp. The percentage of PUFAs, such as methyl linoleate and methyl linolenate, did not surpass the European B100 biodiesel standard limit of 12% (weight), despite the wide variety of PUFAs. It showed that the use of NaCl and KCl during salt stress significantly increases Euglena sp. biofuel production. For this reason, cultivating Euglena sp. at high salinity is suitable for producing biofuels.
