Abstract

Recently, researchers have witnessed an alarming phenomenon related to the violation of language politeness among students. This study aims to describe the map of students' language impoliteness in Indonesia. The research data is in the form of students' speech. The focus of this research is unmannerly speech which is studied by phenomenological study by using Culpeper's impoliteness strategy. The phenomenological steps taken are observation of the phenomenon of impoliteness, formulating problems, collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing reports. The research findings show that students use three politeness violation strategies, namely direct politeness violation, positive politeness violation, and negative politeness violation. The phenomenon found is the strategy of impoliteness by using four forms, namely delivering impolite speech directly, speech uttered based on consideration of the interlocutor, considering the location, and the situation of the conversation between the speaker and the interlocutor. This research can contribute to education, especially for teachers to always educate and guide students to speak politely. With a better understanding of the phenomenon of violations of students' language politeness, it is hoped that appropriate preventive and intervention measures can be taken to minimize the forms of language impoliteness that can be carried out by a teacher or parent.

Abstract

In the context of the 2024 presidential election campaign, the proliferation of memes as a medium of public and supporter expression has become increasingly prominent. Memes serve as a vehicle for political commentary, often reflecting public sentiment and opinion. However, a significant concern arises from the pervasive use of linguistic impoliteness within these memes. This study aims to examine the phenomenon of linguistic impoliteness in memes related to the 2024 presidential election. Employing a descriptive qualitative research method, data were collected from a variety of meme images sourced from the internet. The analysis reveals that linguistic impoliteness in these memes manifests in several forms, including bald on-record impoliteness, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, sarcasm, and the withholding of politeness. These forms of impoliteness not only reflect the aggressive nature of political discourse but also have the potential to incite conflict among different political factions. The findings suggest a need for more responsible meme usage, particularly in politically charged contexts, to foster a healthier and more constructive political dialogue. The study concludes that while memes are a powerful tool for political expression, their potential to exacerbate tensions should not be overlooked. Implications for future research include exploring strategies for mitigating the negative impact of impoliteness in online political communication.

Abstract

The role of language is very important in campaigns because language is able to mobilize the masses and influence people's behavior. Ideally, campaigns present persuasive language that contains honest and polite information. However, the phenomena in the field are different from those idealized. This paper will describe the phenomenon of violations of language politeness maxims in presidential election memes. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this research was collected from documentation in the form of meme images on the internet, focusing on the three presidential candidates announced by the General Election Commission (KPU). The three presidential candidates are Anies Baswedan, Prabowo Subianto, and Ganjar Pranowo. As a result, the language character in meme media containing presidential candidates is colored by language impoliteness. This linguistic impoliteness takes the form of violations of the language politeness maxim as follows: 27% violation of the approbation maxim, 12% violation of the opinion reticence maxim, 13% violation of the agreement maxim, modesty maxim) by 5%, violation of tact maxim by 25%, violation of the feeling reticence maxim by 13%, violation of the generosity maxim by 4%, and violation of the sympathy maxim of 1%. This violation has the potential to trigger conflict between supporters. Therefore, to create peaceful elections, memes should not contain any forms of politeness violations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of language politeness in public services during dialogical patrols. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method to understand how language politeness strategies are applied in interactions between police and society, based on Geoffrey Leech's politeness theory. Data were collected through direct observation of police dialogue with the community, which was analyzed to identify the realization of Indonesian politeness, politeness violations and how the construct of Indonesian politeness is constructed. The results showed that the maximum of Sympathy was the most dominant with a percentage of 25.68%, followed by the maxim of Praise (19.98%), Approval (17.16%), Wisdom (17.16%), Generosity (11.41%), and Humility (8.55%). Although there are some violations of politeness, such as positive (0.9%) and negative (1.8%) disrespect, police officers generally try to maintain polite communication and support positive relationships with the community. This study concludes that the application of language politeness by the police in dialogical patrols plays an important role in building positive relationships with the community and increasing public trust.

Abstract

Melalui keindahan dan kedalaman mitologi Jawa, masyarakat meresapi keberadaan Dewi Sri sebagai entitas yang menghiasi warisan budaya dengan makna mendalam. Dewi Sri bukan sekadar karakter dalam mitos, melainkan cerminan kearifan lokal yang terkandung dalam kisah dan simbolisme, khususnya dalam peran yang dimainkan oleh perempuan. Cerita Dewi Sri, melampaui naratif mitologisnya, membawa bersama identitas dan peran-peran yang mengilhami dinamika masyarakat Jawa. Sebagai mitos dalam folklor Jawa, cerita Dewi Sri menghadirkan potensi besar untuk menjadi pintu gerbang pemahaman mendalam tentang bagaimana struktur sosial diatur, nilai-nilai gender diartikulasikan, dan identitas perempuan berkembang dalam budaya Jawa.Metode penelitian ini mengadopsi pendekatan etnografi sastra untuk mengkaji representasi wanita Jawa dalam naskah Carios Dwi Sri. Penelitian ini akan difokuskan pada analisis tekstual dan kontekstual Carios Dwi Sri sebagai sumber utama yang mengaitkan hubungan antara penanda dan petanda tidak bersifat denotasi dengan makna tunggal dan linear, tetapi tergantung pada the act of signifying. Proses signifikasi menjadi penting dalam memperoleh makna hubungan penanda dan petanda. Pencitraan Fisik dan Kepribadian sebagai Dewi Sri, dalam mitologi Jawa, merupakan lambang kesuburan dan keberlimpahan. Dimensi Spiritual Dewi Sri cenderung memiliki hubungan yang mendalam dengan nilai-nilai spiritual dan memegang teguh kepercayaan tradisional atau agama. Keseimbangan Antara Kehalusan Dan Kekuatan dalam representasi Dewi Sri terdapat keseimbangan yang indah antara kehalusan dan kekuatan, yang mencerminkan nilai-nilai yang dihargai dalam masyarakat Jawa. Dalam praktiknya, keseimbangan ini tercermin dalam praktik keagamaan, adat istiadat, dan nilai-nilai yang diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat Jawa. Seiring perubahan zaman, masyarakat Jawa terus berusaha untuk menjaga dan menghormati nilai-nilai ini sebagai bagian integral dari identitas budaya mereka. Dengan demikian, konsep keseimbangan antara kehalusan dan kekuatan dalam perempuan Jawa bukan hanya merupakan warisan berharga, tetapi juga menjadi panduan bagi kehidupan yang bermakna dan seimbang.

Abstract

Film termasuk karya sasta dimana fitur-fitur teks sastra yang bisa dikaji dengan ilmu linguistik. Salah satunya dianalisis dengan kajian morfofonemik. Pada kajian morfofonemik bahasa Arab terdapat bahasan tentang I'lal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis I'lal dalam film kartun Shalahuddin Al-Ayyubi episode 1. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini berupa temuan sebanyak 31 data dari 3 bentuk I'lal. Dalam kajian morfofonemik I'lal ini, terlihat keunikan dari perubahan bentuk dan bunyi dalam bahasa Arab. Kata Kunci: Morfofonemik, Morfologi, Fonologi, I’lal, Film

Abstract

One class dominates or is supported across numerous social aspects in hegemony. This study used critical discourse analysis to analyze data. This research aimed to analyze social hegemony in Indonesian literary criticism course materials. Thus, this study formulated problems as follows. (1) Social hegemony in Indonesian literary criticism course materials. (2) Persuasive cultural hegemony in Indonesian literary criticism course materials (3) Power hegemony in Indonesian literary criticism textbooks. In Indonesian literary criticism course materials, discursive practices, social identity, and social interaction are dialectical. Literary discourse is examined from three angles: the text, discourse practices, and the socio-cultural setting. Literary discourse as a manifestation of social interaction, its ability to regulate or manipulate behavior and material existence, and its role in establishing and maintaining power, status, and social roles are examined in the context of social hegemony. Critical examination of literary discourse in Indonesian literary criticism course materials is possible by considering cultural hegemony. According to the first assumption, symbols create meaning. b) Indonesian literary criticism textbooks link knowledge to values. Indonesian literary criticism course materials include cultural discourse from several fields. The hegemony of power is examined in Indonesian literary criticism course materials. a) Authority affects daily life. Power is coercive. Indonesian literary criticism course materials allow readers to criticize and disrupt social, cultural, and authority systems through literary discourse.

Abstract

This study aim to develop and validate multimodal teaching materials integrated with a Genre-Based Approach to strengthen junior-secondary persuasive writing in bahasa Indonesian class. Motivated by gaps in monomodal textbooks and inconsistent enactment of genre pedagogy, we followed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE model. The digital e-module operationalizes Building Knowledge of the Field, Modelling, Joint Construction, and Independent Construction, and coordinates text, images, layout, and audio so verbal and visual resources support the same persuasive functions. A limited classroom trial with Grade VIII students (n = 39) examined feasibility and learning movement. Evaluation combined expert validation of content  and material, language and readability, and media and design, teacher and student user-response indices, and curriculum-aligned pre and posttests. Analyses were descriptive. Expert validation yielded 92.76 %, categorized as very feasible. Teacher reported 93.35 %, also very feasible. Students reported 82.75 %, feasible. Mean scores increased from 65.22 % on the pretest to 85.74 % on the posttest, a gain of 20.51 points, with an average normalized gain of 0.61 indicating medium effectiveness. Findings suggest that explicit genre scaffolding coupled with principled multimodal orchestration is classroom-ready and educationally valuable. Recommendations include clearer stepwise drafting prompts, compact lexis banks for stance, and stronger intermodal signalling.

Abstract

Peristiwa kekerasan seksual semakin marak terjadi di masyarakat belakangan ini khususnya pada para perempuan. Berita kekerasan seksual terhadap perempuan dipublikasikan di berbagai media online tanah air. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menggambarkan posisi perempuan di dalam teks berita online merdeka.com pada pemberitaan kasus-kasus kekerasan terhadap perempuan yang diambil dari dua sisi sudut pandang penulis, yaitu pelaku dan korban. Metode penelitian yang diterapkan adalah metode Analisis Wacana Kritis berdasarkan perspektif Sara Mills. Terdapat empat teks berita kekerasan seksual terhadap perempuan, yang dimuat dalam merdeka.com, dipilih sebagai sumber data primer untuk dianalis menggunakan perspektif Sara Mills. Dari hasil analisis, secara keseluruhan keempat teks berita kekerasan seksual pada merdeka.com menggambarkan perempuan sebagai objek yang cenderung diberi label negatif dalam kata-kata oleh penulis. Hanya satu diantaranya yang masih memberikan peluang bagi perempuan untuk menampilkan kehadiran dirinya dalam wacana sebagai bentuk perlawanan atau gerakan feminisme meskipun penyampaiannya melalui ibu atau pihak keluarga si perempuan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa keempat teks tersebut mengandung bias gender dalam penggambaran posisi perempuan sebagai korban kekerasan seksual.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hambatan dan solusi dalam pembelajaran menulis kreatif di SD Muhammadiyah 1 Banjarnegara. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam dengan guru dan siswa, serta dokumentasi. Pada penelitian ini  metode analisis data menggunakan metode interaktif dari Miles dan Huberman dan diuji keabsahan data menggunakan teknik triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran menulis kreatif memberikan manfaat signifikan dalam mengembangkan keterampilan menulis siswa, namun terdapat beberapa hambatan. Hambatan tersebut meliputi variasi kemampuan siswa dalam mencapai tujuan pembelajaran, tantangan peran guru terkait kualifikasi dan beban kerja, kesulitan siswa dalam menemukan ide dan menyusun tulisan, keterbatasan materi ajar nonfiksi yang kurang menarik, metode pembelajaran yang masih konvensional, dominasi media pembelajaran konvensional, serta evaluasi pembelajaran yang berfokus pada produk dan aspek kognitif. Untuk mengatasi hambatan ini, penelitian menawarkan solusi berupa peningkatan kualifikasi dan dukungan guru, penggunaan teknik variatif dalam pembelajaran, penambahan materi nonfiksi yang menarik, integrasi teknologi dalam metode dan media pembelajaran, serta penerapan teknik evaluasi yang lebih beragam dan sistematis. Penelitian ini memiliki potensi besar dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa, namun perlu adanya perbaikan dan inovasi dalam berbagai komponen pembelajaran agar program dapat berjalan lebih efektif dan dapat menjadi contoh bagi sekolah lain.
