Abstract

The low interest of students choosing social studies majors (IPS) at the National High School is thought to be a problem that originates from within students and outside the student's self. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence students' interest in choosing a social studies major at SMA 2 Tambang, in Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The population in this study were all students of class XI IPS, amounting to 170 people. The sample was determined using propotional random sampling to obtain 119 people. The data analysis technique used is Path Analysis. The results of the analysis show that the family environment and school environment have a positive and significant effect on the ideals of choosing an IPS major. School ideals and environment have a positive and significant effect on the interest in choosing an IPS major. While the family environment has a significant effect on the interest in choosing an IPS major. However, there is a negative influence of the family environment on the interest of students choosing social studies majors, due to the low level of family education. Therefore parents are expected to be able to provide support so that their children are more interested in choosing social studies majors. The school is expected to further improve socialization to add information and provide an overview to students about social studies majors.

Abstract

Students with difficulty in comprehending conceptual materials need media that has powers in organizational, procedural visual, and supporting creative thinking; all are integrated in a mind-mapping media. This research is aimed to develop a learning design of Introduction to Management based on mind-mapping media concerning with conceptual materials. This is an early phase of research and development activities, in Introduction to Management class. Data of needs analysis is obtained through survey technique on 38 college students, then followed by literature study and focus group discussions. The result shows that a learning design of Introduction to Management, that highlights conceptual materials, has constructed on the basis of mind-mapping media. The design consisted of learning outcome, stages of preparing mind mapping media, and measurement method of effectiveness of the learning design implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the influence of income level, financial literacy, use of social media; on the consumptive behavior of teachers. The total population in this study was 127 civil servant teachers. The sampling technique used Isaac Michael's table with an error rate of 5%, the number of samples in this study was 94 teachers. The process of taking sample data using proportional random sampling technique. Data was obtained by using questionnaires and documentation methods. The collected data was then analyzed using descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. The findings in this study are that there is no significant effect of the income level variable on the consumptive behavior of teachers, there is a significant influence of the financial literacy variable and the use of social media on the consumptive behavior of PNS teachers. The level of consumptive behavior is related to the financial literacy of teachers and the use of social media. So that teachers are expected to increase their level of financial literacy and reduce the intensity in using social media to minimize consumptive behavior.

Abstract

The quality of education is very dependent on teachers who play a role and are the biggest contributors in the world of education. Several competencies that must be possessed by teachers are increasing motivation and learning achievement of students, including pedagogical competence and professional competence. This study aims to identify and analyze the direct and indirect relationship between pedagogic and professional competence of social studies subject teachers in relation to the motivation and learning achievement of students. The total population in this study were 107 teachers of social studies subjects. The sampling technique used Isaac Michael's table with an error rate of 5%, the number of samples in this study were 80 social studies subject teachers. The process of sampling data used random sampling techniques with questionnaires and documentation. The collected data were then analyzed using descriptive analysis and path analysis. The findings in this study are that there is a positive direct and indirect relationship to the pedagogical and professional competence of social studies subject teachers in relation to the motivation and learning achievement of students. The level of motivation and learning achievement of students is related to pedagogical competence and professional competence. So that it is hoped that the teacher will improve on their pedagogic and professional competence and finally they can increase the motivation and learning achievement of students.

Abstract

The National Examination is conducted to test the ability of students during the education process. However the average national exam results of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Pekanbaru starting from 2015-2018 always decrease. This phenomenon can not be separated from factors that affect learning achievement. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence concentration and critical thinking on student learning achievement both direct influence and indirect influence on economic subjects in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Pekanbaru (MAN 1 Pekanbaru). The population in this study were 125 students of IIS class XI. Sampling technique used was simple random sampling obtained by 95 students. Data collection uses a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The results showed that: (1) the non-physical school environment had an effect on learning achievement directly by 24.2% and indirectly had an effect of 12%. (2) learning interest influences learning achievement directly by 27.1% and indirectly by 8.8%. (3) learning concentration directly affects learning achievement by 19.5%. (4) critical thinking directly influences learning achievement by 27.3%. In general, critical thinking can affect the learning achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors which affect the interests of majors in Madrasah Aliyah in Pekanbaru City. Total population of 1225 students with samples as many as 302 students obtained pro proportionately random sampling. Data collection using questionnaires and documentation. Then the data were analyzed descriptively and analyzed by Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results showed: (1) Parents' attention has a direct and significant effect on the interest in choosing a major, meaning that the greater the attention of parents, the higher the student's interest in choosing a major. (2) Parent’s attention and ideals not directly affect academic ability, and academic ability does not affect the interest of majors. it means that the size of the parents' attention and the student's aspirations does not affect the student's academic ability and interest in the chosen major. (3) Ambition job directly affects the interest to choose a major, which means that the level of ambition will be in line with how much desire and interest in the majors since according to their interests. This shows that interest in choosing a major can increase along with increasing parental attention and student ambitions.

Abstract

Several problems were found such as the teacher was not sensitive to the problems of students, the teacher was not enthusiastic in teaching, the teacher could not show in front of the students that he mastered the material well, there were still many teachers who could not good use of information technology, and the lack of togetherness among fellow teachers in completing assignments. This study uses a saturated sample technique. The number of samples is the entire population of 55 teachers. The results of this study shows that there is a positive and significant influence between Job Involvement on Social Competence. The higher the work involvement given, the higher the social competence of the teacher. There is a positive and significant influence between the variables of teacher performance on social competence. The higher the level of performance possessed by the teacher, the higher the level of social competence possessed by the teacher. There is also a jointly significant influence between the variables of work involvement and teacher performance on social competence. The higher the work involvement and performance of the teacher, the higher the level of social competence possessed by the teacher with the assumption of permanent work involvement. Furthermore, the higher the level of performance possessed by the teacher, the higher the level of social competence possessed by the teacher with the assumption of permanent work involvement.

Abstract

Many lecturers wrote their (formal) learning objectives at the beginning of each session. However, many of them also ignored the existence of hidden objectives, whereas if applied, the hidden objectives will maximize learning outcomes broadly. The hidden objective, that was applied to Micro Teaching courses at the university is discussed. In this paper, we outlined the concept of hidden objectives in developing and nurturing teaching skills for prospective teachers. The article was based on literature analysis relating to the concepts of curriculum, hidden curriculum, and learning objectives. We endeavoured to review the literature, definition, and principles of hidden objectives to develop a better understanding. We concluded that hidden objectives provide a contribution to the Micro Teaching course, and we recommended a model addressed to lecturers at the related departments, to the head of the department where the course was carried out, and to a unit of curriculum development at the Faculty of Education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pengaruh Motivasi Berprestasi dan Efikasi Diri terhadap Etos Kerja Guru Perempuan di SD Negeri Kecamatan Sinaboi Kabupaten Rokan Hilir. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dan metode Survey dengan teknik korelasional (correlational resarch). Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kuisioner dengan 49 responden dari 94 orang guru SD perempuan yang berada di Kecamatan Sinaboi Kabupaten Rokan Hilir yang dipilih secara acak sebagai sampel menggunakan rumus Slovin. Metode penelitian dilakukan yaitu responden memberikan tanggapan terhadap kuesioner dalam bentuk skala likert yang terdiri dari lima pilihan jawaban yaitu Selalu, Sering, Kadang-Kadang, Jarang, dan Tidak Pernah. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Berdasarkan dari analisis data diperoleh pengaruh yang signifikan antara variabel motivasi berprestasi (X1) terhadap etos kerja guru (Y) perempuan Sekolah Dasar Negeri Kecamatan Sinaboi Kabupaten Rokan Hilir, dan besar pengaruhnya adalah 21,3% dengan tafsiran rendah, karena masih terdapat sebesar 78,7% ditentukan oleh faktor lain yang tidak menjadi bagian dari penelitian ini; selanjutnya, Diperoleh pengaruh yang signifikan antara variabel efikasi diri (X2) terhadap etos kerja guru (Y) perempuan Sekolah Dasar Negeri Kecamatan Sinaboi Kabupaten Rokan Hilir dan besar pengaruhnya adalah 24,1% dengan tafsiran rendah, karena masih terdapat sebesar 75,9% ditentukan oleh faktor lain yang tidak menjadi bagian dari penelitian ini; dan Diperoleh pengaruh yang signifikan antara variabel motivasi berprestasi (X1) dan efikasi diri (X2) terhadap etos kerja guru (Y) perempuan Sekolah Dasar Negeri Kecamatan Sinaboi Kabupaten Rokan Hilir dan besar pengaruhnya 29,2% dengan tafsiran rendah, karena masih terdapat sebesar 70,8% ditentukan oleh faktor lain yang tidak menjadi bagian dari penelitian ini.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan Pengaruh Supervisi dan Integritas terhadap Kinerja Guru. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Rokan Hilir kepada Guru SD di Kecamatan Bangko. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 181 orang guru yang dipilih secara random.  Data diperoleh dengan cara angket yang sebelumnya dilakukan uji coba untuk melihat tingkat validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Data dianalisis secara diskriptif dan statistic (analisis regresi berganda) menggunakan program SPSS versi 1. Hasil penelitian diketahui menunjukan bahwa secara umum ke tiga variabel tersebut yaitu supervisi, integritas dan kinerja guru masih tergolong kategori sedang, karena itu perlu ditingkatkan kualitasnya. Namun demikian ternyata pengaruh supervisi dan integeritas terhadap kinerja guru baik secara parsial maupun secara silmultan memiliki pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja guru, dengan kontribusi sebesar 28%, sementara sisanya ditentukan oleh faktor lain sepeerti motivasi, kompensasi, pengalaman dan lainnya yang tidak diteliti pada penelitian ini. Dengan demikian apabila ingin meningkatkan kinerja guru maka diperlukan supervisi yang baik dan tepat baik oleh Kepala Sekolah maupun oleh  Pengawas terhadap pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan oleh guru, serta juga diharapkan kepada guru untuk juga meningkatkan integritasnya
