Abstract

Tempe Lake which is located in Wajo Regency is the second largest lake in South Sulawesi Province. There are abundant fish produced which can be processed into salted fish products. Salted fish is made by preserving the fish by using salt. In the manufacturing process, people often use formalin-type food additives to make the storability can be longer. This research aims to analyse fomaldehyde content in wet saltwater fish, semi-dried salted fish, and dry saltwater fish in Tanjong Manik Market, Tempe District, Wajo Regency. The data were obtained through observation and laboratory examination using the test kit method. The number of samples in this research were 30 samples of salted fish using a purposive sampling technique. The results show that 90% of 30 samples contained formaldehyde for wet saltwater fish, 70% for semi-dried salted fish, and 90% for dry saltwater fish. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is formalildehyde content in the freshwater salted fish in the samples examined. It is hoped that the public will know more about the characteristics of salted fish containing formalin. For the salted fish producers, it is hoped not to add food additives and maximize the drying process. The government is hoped to supervise and guide the producers on the use of formalin in food ingredients.

Abstract

Cassava leaves (Manihot Esculanta Crantz) are widely used by the community as a vegetable, however they contain high levels of cyanide acid (HCN), for this reason they need to be processed properly and correctly. This research aims to determine the processing process to reduce cyanide acid (HCN) levels in cassava leaves (Manihot Esculanta Crantz). This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a Pre-Post Test Control Design design by immersing in NaCl solution using a concentration of 2% and a boiling process for 40 minutes and replication 3 times. The data obtained based on the results of observations during experiments were then presented in written and tabular form and then analyzed descriptively regarding the reduction in cyanide acid (HCN) levels in cassava leaves (Manihot Esculanta Crantz). The results of the research showed that before treatment, the HCN level was found to be 0.00156 mg/kg, whereas after treatment, namely soaking with 2% NaCl solution, the average result was 0.00725 mg/kg with a decrease of 53.5% and for boiling it was 0.00181 mg/kg with a reduction of 88.3%. The conclusion of this research is that the boiling process has a greater effect on reducing cyanide acid (HCN) levels in cassava leaves (Manihot Esculanta Crantz) compared to the soaking process with NaCl solution. It is recommended to apply cassava leaf processing using the boiling method to reduce HCN levels

Abstract

Background: Dengue fever is a public health issue in Ende Regency at Kota Ende Health Center, an endemic area. Since 2015, the One House One Jumantik movement empowers families, but low awareness and resources hinder implementation. Methods: A qualitative case study with a phenomenological approach  from January to June 2025 with six purposively selected informants: technical officers, health center leaders, health office officials, three urban village head. Sample size was determined based on information power and theoretical saturation. Data were collected via observation, open interviews, and document review, then analyzed thematically. Triangulation of sources and techniques ensured validity. Ethical approval was obtained from Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang (LB.02.03/1/0036/2025). Results: Implementers’ positive understanding supports adoption of the One House One Jumantik program. Nonetheless, budget constraints, limited monitoring structures, weak cross-sector communication, and low community engagement reduce effectiveness. Strengthening coordination, providing training, and applying participatory approaches are key to improving sustainability. Conclusion: The implementation of the One House, One Jumantik movement at Kota Ende Health Center remains limited by resource shortages, organizational structure, and cross-sector coordination. Program effectiveness is affected by organizational capacity, communication, and resource distribution. Addressing these challenges requires concrete actions: conducting cadre training and establishing coordination forums at the Health Center level; providing technical guidance, supervision, and budget support at the District Health Office level; integrating formal policies, planning, and performance monitoring at the Regional Government level; and actively involving the community in inspections and mosquito surveillance

Abstract

Teachers represent the core human capital within educational systems, serving as the pivotal agents in embedding character education into early childhood curricula framed by the principles of child-friendly schools. This study aims to identify teachers’ competence following storytelling-based character education training and to examine their readiness to utilize Augmented Reality (AR) technology embedded in innovative storybooks as a medium for character formation among Early Childhood Education (ECE) students. Using a quantitative descriptive approach and cluster analysis, data were collected from ECE teachers who had completed training on storytelling and AR-based pedagogical practices. The descriptive findings reveal diverse levels of pedagogical knowledge, digital literacy, and creative implementation, while cluster analysis delineates teacher profiles based on readiness and competence dimensions. Grounded in Intellectual Capital Theory, this study conceptualizes teachers as strategic assets whose cognitive and relational capital underpin the effectiveness of educational innovation. Drawing on Experiential Learning Theory, the integration of AR storybooks is interpreted as a reflective and active learning process that enhances teachers’ capability to design meaningful, technology-enhanced learning experiences. The study contributes to the literature on human capital development in education by offering managerial implications for differentiated professional learning strategies that foster innovation capability and sustain intellectual capital growth in ECE institutions.

Abstract

School and classroom are not merely educational spaces but act as dynamic arenas where social structures are reproduced and contested. While schools are expected to promote equality, sociological perspectives reveal their latent role in sustaining social inequalities. This study aims to explore how classrooms function as sites of social integration, reproduction of inequality, and identity formation. Using a qualitative library research method, this paper analyzes theories from Durkheim, Bourdieu, Foucault, Mead, and others to examine classroom dynamics. Findings show that education often legitimizes dominant cultural capital, perpetuates labeling practices, and imposes subtle disciplinary power. Classrooms become microcosms of society where power, norms, and ideologies are constructed and negotiated. The study concludes that critical awareness among educators and policymakers is vital to transform classrooms into inclusive and democratic spaces. Future studies should empirically investigate strategies that resist structural inequality within educational institutions.

Abstract

This research explores the role of logic in the understanding of truth in educational settings, using a hermeneutical-philosophical approach. Logic, as a rational thinking tool, serves to develop students' critical and analytical thinking abilities, while science, through empirical methods, provides an evidence-based framework that supports the understanding of truth. However, the application of logic is often limited to theoretical aspects without a practical context, and science education tends to emphasise memorisation over process exploration. This paper proposes the integration of logic and science through an integrated curriculum, project-based approaches and the use of technology to create a holistic education that supports students' character and critical reasoning. This integration creates harmony between rationality and local values, relevant for 21st century education that respects cultural diversity. This research highlights the challenges of creating an inclusive yet value-based education and offers practical recommendations to improve the relevance of logic in learning.

Abstract

This study examines the humanistic approach in Arabic language learning through the perspective of a love-based curriculum as an alternative paradigm that is more holistic, meaningful, and humane. The humanistic approach positions students as subjects with a natural potential to develop optimally, integrating the principles of Western humanistic psychology with Islamic educational values (tarbiyah). This research employed library research methodology using a descriptive-analytical approach. Data and data sources consisted of literature on Arabic language teaching methodology (ṭuruq tadrīs al-lughah al-'arabiyyah), as well as secondary sources including accredited international and national journals, conference proceedings, previous research findings, and scientific articles discussing related themes. Data collection technique used documentation by reading, identifying, classifying, and analyzing relevant literature through purposive sampling based on criteria of relevance, source credibility, and contribution to research concept development. Data analysis employed content analysis with a hermeneutic approach to understand the deep meaning of various concepts studied, involving data reduction, thematic categorization, interpretation through comparison of theoretical perspectives, and source triangulation for validation. The findings indicate that the humanistic approach through a love-based curriculum offers fundamental solutions to Arabic language-learning problems by fostering a supportive psychological environment, reducing language anxiety, increasing intrinsic motivation, and developing communicative competence holistically. This approach not only produces linguistically competent graduates but also individuals with noble character, deep love for the Arabic language, and commitment to lifelong learning.

Abstract

Background: Arabic vocabulary instruction in Islamic elementary schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) is often hindered by low student motivation and a reliance on rote memorization, which is particularly ineffective for concrete themes like diseases (al-amrāḍ). This highlights a critical need for developmentally appropriate visual media. Aims: This research aims to: (1) design thematic flashcard media on al-amrāḍ for third-grade students, (2) evaluate the media's validity through expert judgment, and (3) assess its practicality and impact on student engagement. Methods: Employing a Research and Development (R&D) framework, this study utilized the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate). The process began with a needs analysis through observation and interviews, followed by the design and validation of flashcards by experts in Arabic language education, media, and linguistics. A limited trial with 22 third-grade students at MI Miftahul Akhlaqiyah, Semarang, was conducted to evaluate practicality and student perceptions through observation and response questionnaires. Results: The flashcards achieved high validity scores from experts: 88% (content), 83% (linguistics), and 75% (media). Student responses were exceptionally positive, with an overall practicality rating of 95%, particularly appreciating the visual appeal, ease of use, and increased motivation. The findings indicate that the flashcards effectively facilitate vocabulary acquisition by creating clear visual-lexical connections. Implications: The al-amrāḍ flashcards are a valid and practical learning medium that effectively addresses pedagogical gaps in elementary Arabic instruction. This research underscores the importance of integrating visual design with linguistic accuracy for young learners. Practically, the flashcards offer an engaging, interactive alternative to traditional methods. Theoretically, it contributes to the discourse on multimedia design for early language acquisition within religious education contexts.
