Abstract

Abstrak: The simple descriptive research method was conducted to investigate utilizing physical quantities and units symbols improprelly that are frequently (more than 10%) done by second grade students of middle school. Using intact group method, 167 students from two classes in three different middle schools were chosen to be the participants in this study. The participant schools were MTs Al-Mustaqim, SMPN 22 Pontianak and SMPN 2 Sungai Raya. Data was collected by using 50 multiple choice questions which consisted of 35 physical quantities questions and 15 units of measurement questions. It was found that 29,03% students were mistaken in writing symbols forphysical quantities and 16,16% students for units of measurement. It was also found that students were rarely (less than 10%) mistaken  in writing physical quantities symbols for time, length, area, density, period and wave length; and units of measurements symbols for kilogram, metre per second squared, kilogram per metre cubed, hertz, metre per second and metre cubic. Keywords: Symbols, Physical quantities and units Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan bentuk-bentuk kekeliruan penulisan simbol besaran dan satuan fisika yang sering ditulis keliru (>10% siswa) pada materi fisika kelas VIII SMP/Sederajat. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif sederhana. Penelitian dilaksanakan di tiga sekolah yaitu MTs Al-Mustaqim (kelas B, kelas C), SMPN 22 Pontianak (kelas C, kelas D), dan SMPN 2 Sungai Raya (kelas B, kelas C) dengan sampel 167 siswa. Pengumpulan data berdasarkan soal tes pilihan ganda yang terdiri dari 50  soal (35 soal tentang besaran, 15 soal tentang satuan). Persentase rata-rata kekeliruan siswa menuliskan simbol besaran fisika sebesar 29,03%, sedangkan persentase rata-rata kekeliruan siswa menuliskan simbol satuan fisika sebesar 16,16%. Terdapat 6 simbol besaran fisika (waktu, ketinggian, luas, massa jenis zat, periode, panjang gelombang) dan 6 simbol satuan fisika (kilogram, meter per sekon persegi, kilogram per meter kubik, hertz, meter per sekon, meter kubik) yang tidak termasuk kategori simbol yang sering ditulis keliru (<10% siswa). Abstract

Abstract: This reseach was aimed to describe the forms of error made by the students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Mempawah Hilir in performing measurement using calipers. This type of reseach is survey reseach. Sampling technique used intact group, as many as 33 students. Data collection tool used is the assessment form student performance. It obtained from performance tests to measure the outside diameter, inside diameter, and depth of test tube. From the results of analyzes of the data, obtained by the average percentage of students who either each measurement: (1) outside diameter measurement of the test tube is 43.02% (2) inside diameter measurement of the test tube is 61.95% (3) depth measurement of the test tube is 49.39%. This reseach is expected to help teachers of physics to overcome the mistakes of the student. Keywords: Description, Error, Measurement, Calipers Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Mempawah Hilir dalam melakukan pengukuran menggunakan jangka sorong. Jenis penelitian ini berupa penelitian survei. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik intact group, sebanyak 33 siswa. Alat pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah lembar penilaian kinerja siswa yang hasil penilaiannya diperoleh dari tes kinerja dalam mengukur diameter luar, diameter dalam, dan kedalaman tabung reaksi. Dari hasil anlisis data, diperoleh rata-rata persentase jumlah siswa yang salah tiap pengukuran: (1) pengukuran diameter luar tabung reaksi adalah 43,02% (2) pengukuran diameter dalam tabung reaksi adalah 61,95% (3) pengukuran kedalaman tabung reaksi adalah 49,39%. Hasil temuan dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu guru fisika untuk mengatasi kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa. Kata kunci: Deskripsi, Kesalahan, Pengukuran, Jangka Sorong

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to produce multiple choice diagnostic tests that are used to detect misconceptions of students on the chapter of work in high school. This study used research & development (R & D) method which consists of seven steps, (1) research and information gathering, carried out by looking at previous studies on the chapter of work (2) planning, including determining the tests, compiling test lines, choose the form of the test, and determine the length of the test (3) develop a preliminary form of the product, in the form of test preparation (4) preliminary field trials, involving 15 students (5) revisions based on the results of preliminary field trials, (6) main field tests, involving 72 students from SMAN 3 Pontianak and Santun Untan High School Pontianak (7) revised based on the main field test. The results of the data analysis showed that the diagnostic test was developed based on the initial conception of students in the chapter of work of several previous studies, test validity of 0.70, test reliability of 0.70, test readability index of 6.44, and the difficulty level of 0. 44. Based on the results of the analysis, as many as 16 diagnostic test questions met the characteristics of the test namely the test was developed based on the initial conception of students, high validity, high reliability, readability index in accordance with the level of education of students, and the low difficulty level. Keywords: Development, Diagnostic Test, Work

Abstract

AbstractResearch and development (R&D) aims to develop two-tier diagnostic test that can be used to explore students’ misconceptions on the uniform circular motion in senior high school. The diagnostic test is developed based on the initial concept of the student by adapting the 7 steps of Borg & Gall development. Total of 40 students in XI MIPA 1 of SMA Negeri 2 Pontianak involved in the preliminary field test. Meanwhile, in the main field test was conducted in XI MIPA 2 and XI MIPA 3 of SMA Negeri 2 Pontianak, XI MIPA 3 and XI MIPA 4 of SMA Negeri 7 Pontianak as well as XI MIPA 2 and XI MIPA 3 of SMA Negeri 8 Pontianak with total sampel of 221 students. The result is 25 items meet good test quality with level of content validity is 0.81 and reliability is 0.814. In addition, the diagnostic test also has difficulty levels with moderate-to-easy categories (0.31-0.85) and readability rates is 5.25, so it meet the characteristics of good diagnostic tests. In other words, developed diagnostic tests can be used to explore the misconceptions of students on uniform circular motion.Keywords: Diagnostic test, two-tier, uniform circular motion

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali miskonsepsi siswa kelas X SMA tentang gerak melingkar beraturan. Penelitian deskriptif sederhana, dengan 10 soal Three-tier Test berbentuk pilihan ganda diberikan kepada 186 siswa yang dipilih secara acak. Ditemukan ada sekitar 39% siswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi konsep-konsep gerak melingkar beraturan ini. Kata Kunci: Miskonsepsi, Gerak Melingkar Beraturan Abstrak: This research was purposed to find the misconceptions among first grade students in senior high schools about uniform circular motion. This simple descriptive research used Three-tier Test, consisted of 10 multiple choice questions, has given to 186 students that was chosen randomly. Abstract

Abstract   This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of SMP Negeri 3 Ambawang about temperature and heat by applying the discovery learning model assisted with questioning. The form of this research is pre-experimental design with the design of one group pretest-posttest. This study involved the whole class of VII D as an experimental  class, with a total of 29 students whom selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was 20 questions in the form of multiple choice learning outcomes test. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test using SPSS 23, the Asym score of 0.000 (<0.05) was obtained so that Ha was accepted, which means that there were significant differences in student learning outcomes before and after the discovery learning model assisted with questioning. There is an increase in learning outcomes seen from the average pretest-posttest score of 34.14. The application of discovery learning model assisted with questioning is effective for improving student learning outcomes in temperature and heat material with a value of 2.88s (classified as high). The results of the study are expected to be an alternative in an effort to improve learning outcomes of students in the subject about temperature and heat.      Keywords: application, discovery learning, questioning, learning ouycomes,                     temperature and heat

Abstract

This research aims to know effectiveness remediation through problem solving to reduce students error in finishing the question of energy material on IXth grade SMP Kemala Bhayangkari Sungai Raya. Research method is Pre-Experimental Design form One Group Pretest-Postest Design. The research sample taken through cluster sampling randomly that consist of 21 students. The result of data analisys showed that average students error at pretest is entering and calculation numbers 11,95, unit conversion 5,76, using form 7 and not finishing 4, whereas at posttest entering and calculation numbers 10,88, unit conversion 5,71, using form 7 and not finishing 4. Students error decrease got average is 2 as well as proportion of effectiveness reach 0.07. Thus, researcher have as a conclusion that remediation through problem solving of energy material is effective decrease students error finishing the question and suggested have variative evaluating not only comprehension but skill and question finishing process. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efektivitas remediasi melalui pemecahan masalah untuk menurunkan kesalahan siswa menyelesaikan soal energi di kelas IX SMP Kemala Bhayangkari Sungai Raya. Metode yang digunakan adalah Pre-Experimental Design bentuk One Group Pretest-Postest Design. Sampel berjumlah 21 siswa diambil acak melalui cluster sampling. Hasil yang diperoleh berupa rata-rata kesalahan siswa pada tes awal yaitu memasukkan angka dan menghitung 11,95, mengkonversi satuan 5,76, menggunakan formula 7 dan tidak menyelesaikan soal 4, sedangkan pada tes akhir yaitu memasukkan angka dan menghitung 10,88, mengkonversi satuan 5,71, kemudian menggunakan formula 6,14 dan tidak menyelesaikan soal 4. Kemudian penurunan kesalahan siswa diperoleh rata-rata 2 serta menghasilkan proporsi tingkat efektivitas sebesar 0,07. Dari uraian hasil penelitian disimpulkan remediasi melalui pemecahan masalah efektif menurunkan kesalahan siswa menyelesaikan soal energi dan disarankan tahap evaluasi yang dilakukan lebih variatif tidak hanya pemahaman melainkan kemampuan serta proses menyelesaikan soal. KataKunci: Menyelesaikan Soal, Kesalahan Siswa.

Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this research is to improve students’ learning outcomes through Group Investigation model on momentum and impulse content The design of this study is in the form of a non-equivalent control group which involve 66 students of SMA Kemala Bhayangkari that taken from X Mia 1 and X Mia 2. Data collection includes students’ achievement test in the form of pretest and posstest which consist of 5 multiple choice questions and 2 Essay questions, questions are made in parallel. Subject of the research is students of SMA Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Pontianak with 66 students that taken from X MIA 1 class and X MIA 2 class. The data is obtained by using pretest and posttest. In doing Pretest on experimental class, the average of the pretest is 34,18 and posttest 75.15, in control class, the average of pretest is 38,71 and posttest is 71.13. The result of the research shows that there is a different improvement between experimental class and control class with 10% of increasing and 35% for the effectiveness of model in moderate category. Hence, Applying Group Investigation model can improve students’ learning outcomes in learning momentum and impulse. Keywords: Learning Outcomes, Group Investigation, Momentum and Impulse

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas model Problem Based Learning (PBL) untuk meremediasi miskonsepsi siswa tentang keseimbangan benda tegar di SMA K Immanuel Pontianak. Bentuk penelitian berupa “Pre-Experimental Design” dengan rancangan “One Group Pretest-Post test Design”. Alat pengumpul data berupa tes pilihan ganda yang terdiri dari tiga alternatif pilihan dengan alasan terbuka. Penelitian ini melibatkan 70 siswa XI IPA yang miskonsepsi. Dari hasil analisis, remediasi dengan model PBL signifikan menurunkan jumlah miskonsepsi siswa dengan zhitung = -7,246 (α = 5%), berpengaruh pada perubahan konseptual siswa, dengan nilai X2hitung > X2tabel (α = 5%) pada tiap butir soal, dan efektif mengatasi miskonsepsi siswa dengan nilai ES= 3,26 (berkategori tinggi). Penelitian ini diharapkan sebagai alternatif guru dalam meremediasi miskonsepsi siswa tentang keseimbangan benda tegar.   Kata Kunci: Remediasi, Miskonsepsi, Keseimbangan Benda Tegar Abstract: This research is aimed to determine the effectiveness of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to remediate the student’s misconception about balance of rigid body in SMA K Immanuel Pontianak. This research design is “Pre-Experimental Design” with “One Group Pretest-Post test Design”. The instrument of data collector by using a multiple choices test consisting of three alternative choices with open reasons. This research involved 70 students of class XI IPA who had misconception. From the analysis result, remediation using PBL model significantly decrease number of student’s misconception with zcount = -7,246 (α = 5%), influential to student’s conceptual change by X2count > X2table (α = 5%) for each question item, and effective to overcome the student’s misconception (ES = 3,26, high category). This research hopefully to be used by teacher to remediate student’s misconception about balance of rigid body.    Keywords: Remediation, Misconception, Balance of Rigid Body

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to analyze and produce refutation-structured text handout to remediate student misconception on work and energy. Research and Development (R&D) method used in this study which was adopted from seven steps Borg & Gall development. It involved 96 students from 2 schools in Rasau Jaya whom participated in preliminary field and main field. Data collected by using validity questionnaire, student response questionnaire and diagnositc test. The results of data analysis showed that refutation-structure text handout material was suitable to use as a medium to remedy misconceptions about material aspects validity of 0.86 (very high criteria), language aspects 0.87 (very high criteria), and graphic aspects of 0.78 ( high criteria). Students' responses to the first field test obtained a percentage of 80.05% (very high category) and the main field test obtained an average percentage of 80.63% (very high category). The results of this study was expected could be used by teacher to remediate work and energy misconception as an alternative media. Keywords: Development, Refutation-Structured TextHandout, Work and energy
