Abstract

Recently, health workers who have poor performance or fall below expectations have been targeted, especially health workers. One of the causes is the level of discipline of health workers, which is still lacking. The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of work discipline, compensation, employee status, and organizational commitment on the performance of health workers at West Sidoarjo Regional Hospital. This study was quantitative research with independent variables consisting of work discipline, compensation, health worker status, organizational commitment, and health worker performance as the dependent variable. The population in this study was health workers at Sidoarjo Barat Regional Hospital, totaling 289 people. Through a simple random sampling technique, a sample of 168 respondents was obtained. This research was conducted from February to April 2025 at Sidoarjo Barat Regional Hospital, East Java, Indonesia. A questionnaire was used to collect data. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. This study showed the influence of work discipline on the performance of health workers, obtaining a t-count value of 5.828 with a significant value of 0.004 < 0.05. On the other hand, the influence of compensation on the performance of health workers obtained a t-count value of 131.529 with a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05. However, the influence of employee status on the performance of health workers obtained a t-count value of -0.766 with a significant value of 0.445 < 0.05, and the influence of organizational commitment on the performance of health workers obtained a t-count value of 4.865 with a significant value of 0.003 < 0.05. Work discipline, compensation, employee status, and organizational commitment are combined simultaneously; they will affect the performance of health workers, but if the variables are separated one by one and then linked to the influence on the performance of health workers, then there is one variable that statistically does not affect.

Abstract

Community health problems in Indonesia are increasingly complex, including the rising burden of non-communicable diseases, communicable diseases, nutritional issues, and psychosocial problems, particularly among vulnerable populations such as the elderly. This community service aimed to implement an integrated community health promotion program through education, screening, and preventive interventions in Rejomulyo Village, Kediri. This study used a community-based participatory approach with a descriptive evaluative design. The program involved approximately 65 participants and included health education sessions, health screenings (vital signs, anthropometry, biochemical tests, and physical function assessment), and preventive interventions such as local food-based supplementary feeding and smoke-free household promotion. Data were collected through observation, screening records, and participant responses, and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that a significant proportion of participants were at risk of non-communicable diseases, including hypertension, elevated blood glucose, and abnormal nutritional status. Health education activities improved participants’ knowledge and awareness of disease prevention, clean and healthy living behaviors, and environmental health risks. Preventive interventions were well accepted, with increased community commitment to adopting healthier lifestyles, including routine health monitoring and smoke-free home practices. In conclusion, the integrated approach combining education, screening, and preventive interventions proved effective in improving community awareness, enabling early detection of health risks, and promoting sustainable health behaviors. This model has the potential to be replicated in other communities to enhance public health outcomes.

Abstract

Background: The growing elderly population has increased concerns regarding geriatric mental health, particularly anxiety disorders. Anxiety in older adults is often associated with declining physical function, chronic illness, social isolation, and reduced social support, which can negatively affect psychological well-being and quality of life (Beard et al., 2016; World Health Organization, 2022). If untreated, anxiety may worsen physical health conditions and reduce functional independence. Non-pharmacological nursing interventions are therefore needed due to their safety and accessibility. The novelty of this study lies in integrating Benson relaxation and five-finger hypnosis as nurse-led complementary interventions to reduce anxiety among community-dwelling elderly individuals. Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Benson relaxation and five-finger hypnosis in reducing anxiety levels among elderly individuals in the service area of UPT Puskesmas Lawawoi, Sidenreng Rappang Regency, Indonesia. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a pretest–posttest design was conducted among 54 elderly participants selected through simple random sampling. Participants were assigned to Benson relaxation (n = 27) and five-finger hypnosis (n = 27) groups. Anxiety levels were measured using a standardized instrument and analyzed using paired t-tests. Results: The findings showed a significant reduction in anxiety levels after the interventions (p < .001). This study provides evidence that combining relaxation response therapy with hypnosis-based techniques can effectively reduce anxiety among older adults. Conclusion: Benson relaxation and five-finger hypnosis are effective nurse-led complementary interventions that can be applied in community nursing programs to improve mental health among the elderly.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a public health problem with a high risk of transmission, especially among close contacts of patients' families. Low knowledge and social stigma are persistent barriers to prevention. This community service activity aimed to improve family knowledge and preventive behavior through direct home visit-based education. The method used was structured counseling with the Counseling Event Unit (SAP) approach, conducted for families of TB patients in the working area of a Community Health Center (Puskesmas). Sessions included a pre-test, education on transmission routes, prevention measures, cough etiquette, and medication adherence, followed by a post-test for evaluation. Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.000 (< α 0.05), confirming a significant increase in family knowledge and participation in preventive practices — including mask use, ventilation improvement, and medication supervision. Home visit-based mentoring proved effective in raising family awareness and reinforcing their role as medication supervisors (PMO). This activity produced measurable reductions in household transmission risk and strengthened family involvement in community-based TB control
