Abstract

The study investigates the critical role of carbohydrate intake in maintaining glycogen stores and enhancing physical performance during prolonged exercise. The primary aim is to evaluate how carbohydrate consumption influences glycogen levels and athletic performance, focusing on intake types and timing. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive research model, the study conducts an extensive literature review, involving a thorough search of scientific databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Specific keywords like "Carbohydrates," "Glycogen Stores," and "Prolonged Exercise" guide the search for relevant articles. These articles are analyzed to extract and synthesize information on the relationship between carbohydrate intake and glycogen reserves during extended physical activities. The findings highlight that a daily carbohydrate intake of 6-12 g/kg body weight is essential for optimal glycogen levels and performance. Simple carbohydrates and fructose-glucose mixtures are particularly effective in enhancing recovery. Additionally, carbohydrate loading before intense exercise significantly improves glycogen stores and endurance performance. The study concludes that while adequate carbohydrate intake is vital for sustaining performance and facilitating recovery, further research is needed to explore the long-term effects and individual variations in carbohydrate nutrition strategies. This includes examining diverse exercise types, athlete profiles, and the interplay between carbohydrates and other dietary components

Abstract

Abstract

Background and Study. Passing is a fundamental skill in football that requires not only technical proficiency but also adequate physical conditioning. This study aimed to examine the contribution of speed and leg muscle strength to passing performance among university students. Methods. A quantitative correlational design with multiple regression analysis was employed in this study. The participants were 100 male students from the Physical Education, Sport, and Recreation program. Data were collected using a 30-m sprint test to measure speed, a standing broad jump test to assess leg muscle strength, and a short passing test to evaluate passing performance. The data were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression techniques. Results. The results showed that speed was significantly correlated with passing performance (r = 0.62, p < 0.05), as was leg muscle strength (r = 0.58, p < 0.05). Both variables had significant partial and simultaneous effects on passing performance, accounting for 42% of the total variance. Discussion and Conlusions. These findings indicate that improving speed and leg muscle strength plays an important role in enhancing passing quality and effectiveness; therefore, these components should be prioritized in university football training programs.

Abstract

This systematic review gives an overview of studies dealing with the use of technology to monitor volleyball athletes during the time span from January 2015 to April 2026. By following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, we initially retrieved 2, 449 records from Scopus through a Boolean search. After stepwise screening, 29 documents ended up being reviewed. Methodological quality was, firstly, measured by the FICO framework (threshold ≥ 2/4), and AMSTAR-2 for systematic reviews was used; the reliability of the results across the reviewers was excellent (Cohen's κ = 0.81, 95% CI: 0.74, 0.88, i.e. strong agreement). Three major technology categories were identified: (1) wearable IMU-based systems, (2) GPS/LPS optical tracking, and (3) AI and machine learning analytics. Wearable devices were consistent in measuring jump load and player load (ICC > 0.87, 95% CI: 0.82, 0.93), whereas machine learning classifiers were able to recognize actions with accuracies of 85, 97%. Publication bias was very low (Egger's test, p = 0.21). The major problems identified were differences in cross-device standardization, female and youth players being, largely, absent from the studies, and laboratory sensor validation hardly reflecting real-life use.

Abstract

This review by a systematic method was intended to integrate the present knowledge about wearable gadgets, tracking systems, and analytical methods used for the purpose of athlete performance and monitoring assessment in beach volleyball. The review was run in line with the PRISMA 2020 criteria. Based on its wide interdisciplinary coverage of sport science, biomechanics, engineering, computer science, and sports technology research areas, Scopus was chosen as the main database. Studies that included beach volleyball players or events and referred to wearable, sensor-based, tracking, physiological, or computational monitoring technologies were accepted. Study screening and data extraction were performed independently by two reviewers with a very good level of inter-rater agreement (Cohen's κ = 0.87). Out of 128 published studies between 1998 and 2026, 112 were included in the qualitative synthesis. Thematic analysis mapped four main research areas: wearable sensor validation and load monitoring, physiological and biochemical monitoring, computer-vision tracking systems, and machine-learning-based performance analytics. Concerning validity, Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) were highly reliable for jump detection and external-load monitoring, while beach volleyball environment positional accuracy of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) systems topped that of GPS technologies. Machine-learning algorithms reached very high accuracy for action recognition, frequently above 95%, although small datasets were characteristic of most research. The data presented also make a strong case for wearable and analytical technologies integration as the base of evidence-based athlete monitoring, training program optimization, tactical player analysis, and performance management in beach volleyball. Investigations aiming at longitudinal monitoring, females and youth as athlete groups, and physiological, environmental, and artificial intelligent monitoring systems integration seem to be the most promising directions for future research.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze pointing movement skill of Semarang Petanque athlete. This study was descriptive quantitative design which described systematically facts and characteristics of pointing movement by Semarang Petaque Athlete. The pointing movements as data were descriptive. This analysis used descriptive statistic which measured frequency. This data was taken from Biomechanics aspect of 3 pointing movements of Petaque by 8 men and women players of Semarang city. They were; (1) holding a boule, (2) foot position, and (3) throwing the boule. The measurement was carried out by two national coaches and one international coach of Petaque. The result shows that; 1) the average value of holding a boule is 4.4 or 88% of percentage which categorized as very good, 2) the average value of foot position is 4.6 or 92% of percentage which categorized as very good, and 3) the average value of throwing a boule is 3.72 or 74.4% of percentage which categorized as good. Overall movements point out good category with 88% of percentage.
