Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of citizen political participation in the era of social media dominance, highlighting the opportunities and challenges that arise. The Citizen 2.0 phenomenon shows a significant shift from conventional political participation to faster, more massive, and more participatory digital engagement. Social media has become a new democratic space that allows citizens to not only be consumers but also producers of political narratives. This study employs a descriptive-exploratory qualitative approach methods in Kendari City, focusing on the experiences of young, digitally active citizens. The research findings indicate that social media expands political participation access for marginalized groups and strengthens real-time citizen advocacy. However, disinformation, polarization, slacktivism, and digital inequality remain major challenges in achieving healthy digital political participation. This study proposes the need for a constructive model of digital political participation based on principles of modern public administration such as inclusivity, transparency, and responsiveness. These findings contribute to the development of literature on e-participation, digital citizenship, and smart governance, while also serving as a practical reference for governments in developing digital-based participatory policies.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the strategic role of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices—particularly training and development, performance management, and organizational innovation in improving transportation performance and safety in Indonesia. It also explores the moderating effect of employee welfare on these relationships, responding to the growing demands of digital transformation and safety standards in the transportation sector. Methodology: A quantitative approach was employed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Data were collected from 360 respondents working in the land transportation sector across Indonesia through structured questionnaires. Results: The findings confirm that training and development, as well as performance management, significantly influence both organizational innovation and transportation safety. Organizational innovation also positively affects transportation performance, which in turn enhances safety. However, the moderating effect of employee welfare on the innovation–performance relationship was found to be statistically insignifican. Conclusions: High-quality HRM practices, especially in training and performance management, are crucial for enhancing both operational performance and safety in Indonesia’s transportation sector. While innovation contributes to performance, its full benefits may not materialize without stronger welfare systems. Companies should integrate safety-focused training, real-time performance tracking, and inclusive innovation mechanisms into their HR strategy to build a more resilient transportation workforce. Limitations: This study finds that employee welfare has not yet played a significant moderating role in boosting transportation performance through innovation. Most welfare initiatives remain basic, lacking integration with strategic innovation agendas. This limitation highlights a disconnect between employee well-being and organizational goals, which may affect long-term innovation sustainability. Contribution: The study contributes to HRM theory by validating the impact of training and performance management on transportation innovation and safety within a developing-country context. Practically, it provides a framework for transportation firms to align HR strategies with digitalization and operational safety goals. It also underscores the need for welfare policies that go beyond minimum standards to actively support innovation and performance excellence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of assessment, training, mentoring, and counseling on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable, in sea cargo expedition companies in Jakarta. A descriptive quantitative approach was used, with data collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire (1–5) from 88 respondents selected using a census technique. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method via SmartPLS version 4.1.0.0. The results show that assessment and training have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, while mentoring and counseling have no significant effect. Assessment also has a direct and significant effect on employee performance, whereas training, mentoring, and counseling do not. Job satisfaction is found to significantly mediate the relationship between assessment and employee performance. These findings highlight the importance of effective assessment practices in enhancing job satisfaction and employee performance, while suggesting the need to improve the implementation of training, mentoring, and counseling programs.   Keywords: Employee Performance, Job Satisfaction, Assessment, Training, Counseling

Abstract

work motivation on employee performance at the Nunukan Regency Population Control and Family Planning Health Service. This research uses quantitative methods by collecting data through questionnaires distributed to employees at the agency. The collected data was then analyzed using statistical techniques to test the relationship between work environment variables, work motivation and employee performance. The research results show that less conducive work environments, such as hot air temperatures and room cleanliness, do not have a significant influence on employee performance. This indicates that although the work environment can influence comfort, its impact on work productivity is not significant. On the other hand, work motivation is proven to have a positive and significant influence on employee performance, with a high level of motivation playing an important role in increasing dedication and task achievement. Overall, both the work environment and work motivation, both individually and collectively, have a significant influence on employee performance. Based on the results of this research, motivation factors are important in improving employee performance, while the work environment also needs to be considered to create a more conducive work atmosphere. This research suggests that agencies should focus more on developing programs that can increase work motivation, such as providing incentives and rewards, as well as improving the physical conditions of the work environment to increase employee comfort.

Abstract

The logistics and transportation sector faces pressure to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), yet the role of Human Resource Management (HRM) lacks a synthesized, critically appraised evidence base. This study closes this gap via a systematic literature review guided by PRISMA 2020. Searching major databases yielded 25 high-impact review articles (2019-2025), which were critically appraised using the CASP checklist. Thematic analysis identified five core determinants for successful integration: Technological Adoption, Circular Economy Principles, Coherent Policy Frameworks, Workforce Awareness, and Sustainable Resource Management. Based on these findings, we propose an integrative socio-technical framework. This study provides a validated, evidence-based roadmap for stakeholders to develop resilient and sustainable HRM strategies, moving beyond a simple literature summary to offer a critically validated foundation for the industry.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop hypotheses regarding factors that influence employee turnover, with a particular focus on the land transportation sector in Indonesia. The land transportation industry is characterized by high employee mobility and operational demands, making turnover a critical issue that directly affects service quality, safety, and organizational sustainability. Understanding the underlying factors is therefore essential for designing effective human resource policies and reducing workforce instability. Methodology: This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review. Descriptive qualitative studies aim to systematically synthesize and interpret findings from previous research without relying on statistical data analysis (Creswell & Poth, 2018). Comparative analysis was used to identify patterns and relationships across multiple studies. The data were collected from academic sources such as Thomson Reuters Journals, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Scopus Q2–Q4 Emerald, Elsevier, Sage, Web of Science, Sinta 2–5 Journals, DOAJ, EBSCO, Google Scholar, Copernicus, and digital reference books. Results: The review identifies ten key findings: work engagement, remuneration, and leadership directly affect both career path and turnover; career path itself strongly influences turnover; and work engagement and remuneration indirectly affect turnover through career path. Conclusions: Employee turnover depends on engagement, leadership, and career opportunities; strengthening these reduces turnover and enhances workforce stability in transportation. Limitations: Future research should include transportation data to strengthen findings. Contribution: This study enhances understanding of employee turnover by examining work engagement, remuneration, leadership, and career path.
