Abstract

Physics concept understanding is an important aspect of learning because it enables students to explain scientific phenomena and apply concepts in various situations. However, students’ understanding of physics concepts, particularly on temperature and heat, remains relatively low. This study aimed to analyze the differences in students’ physics concept understanding between classes taught using the Socio-Scientific Inquiry-Based Learning (SSIBL) model and those taught using conventional learning. The study employed a quasi-experimental method with a Posttest Only Control Group Design. The population consisted of 60 eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 16 Pekanbaru in the 2025/2026 academic year. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling, with class XI.1 as the experimental group and class XI.2 as the control group. Data were collected using a two-tier multiple-choice concept understanding test and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that the mean score of concept understanding in the experimental class was 83.40, while the control class obtained a mean score of 76.20. The Independent Sample t-Test yielded a significance value of 0.004 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Therefore, the implementation of the SSIBL model resulted in better physics concept understanding than conventional learning on the topic of temperature and heat.

Abstract

This research is grounded in issues related to time management and its connection to students' academic productivity. This study aims to determine the effect of time management on the academic productivity of undergraduate students in the Educational Administration Study Program at Universitas Negeri Padang. This research employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consisted of 606 undergraduate students, with a sample of 243 respondents selected through Simple Random Sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire, which was tested on 30 respondents and found to be valid and reliable through SPSS analysis. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression, including t-test hypothesis testing and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results showed that students' academic productivity was in the very good category, with an achievement of 86.54%, while time management was in the good category, with a score of 75.42%. Time management contributed 68.7% to students' academic productivity, while the remaining 31.3% was influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. These findings indicate that better time management is associated with higher academic productivity among students. Therefore, students are encouraged to improve their time management skills by setting clear learning goals, prioritizing academic tasks, creating regular schedules, avoiding procrastination, and developing a stronger sense of responsibility toward their academic obligations. Effective time management is expected to enhance students' academic productivity in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

PISA 2022 data indicate that Indonesian students' science literacy remains below international standards, implying widespread difficulty in explaining scientific phenomena, interpreting data, and applying scientific concepts. Observations at SMP Negeri 14 Pekanbaru found physics instruction on abstract topics (light and optical instruments) still dominated by teacher‑centered conventional methods, hindering active engagement and multirepresentational understanding. This study describes students' conceptual understanding after implementing STAD cooperative learning supported by multirepresentation media and tests its effect using a quasi‑experimental non‑equivalent posttest‑only control group design. The sample comprised experimental and control classes; data were collected via a 25‑item multiple‑choice test aligned with conceptual understanding indicators and analyzed descriptively and inferentially using an independent samples t‑test. Results show the experimental class mean 79.08 (good) versus control 69.45 (satisfactory); t‑test p = 0.005 (< 0.05), indicating a significant effect of STAD with multirepresentation media on students' conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Stainless steel 304 (SUS 304) is widely used for food containers because of its corrosion resistance and suitability for food-contact applications. However, the occurrence of denting, wrinkling, and permanent deformation in some products suggests possible variations in material quality and mechanical performance. This study compared the chemical composition and mechanical properties of two types of SUS 304 food containers, designated Type 1 and Type 2. Chemical composition was determined using optical emission spectroscopy, while mechanical properties were evaluated through tensile testing in accordance with ASTM E8/E8M and deflection testing using the three-point bending method. The evaluated parameters comprised yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, elongation, maximum force, deflection modulus, and deflection strength. Chemical analysis confirmed that all specimens satisfied the compositional requirements for stainless steel 304 specified in ASTM A240. The mechanical test results showed that Type 1 specimens had greater tensile strength than Type 2 specimens. Type 1 also exhibited higher deflection modulus and deflection strength, although Type 2 recorded a slightly higher average maximum force. These findings indicate that Type 1 food containers possess greater stiffness and resistance to deformation and therefore demonstrate superior overall mechanical quality compared with Type 2 products. The study provides an evidence-based framework for evaluating material performance and strengthening quality-control procedures for SUS 304 food containers.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman pelaku UMKM mengenai sertifikasi halal sekaligus memperkuat kemampuan dalam membangun branding produk. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 30 peserta yang dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan, seperti sosialisasi, praktik, konsultasi, serta pendampingan, serta evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta dalam mempersiapkan legalitas serta memperkuat identitas produk. Hal ini terlihat dari peningkatan rata-rata hasil evaluasi dari 45% pada pre-test menjadi 86,7% pada post-test, atau meningkat sebesar 41,7 poin persentase. Peningkatan paling tinggi terlihat pada pemahaman mengenai pentingnya sertifikasi halal dan konsep branding produk. Peningkatan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pendampingan berbasis praktik membantu peserta memahami persiapan sertifikasi halal dan menerapkan prinsip branding secara lebih terarah. Kegiatan ini juga mendorong peserta untuk memperbaiki identitas produk, informasi kemasan, serta kemampuan dalam mengomunikasikan keunggulan produk kepada konsumen. Dengan demikian, pendampingan sertifikasi halal dan branding dapat menjadi upaya strategis untuk meningkatkan kesiapan legalitas, kepercayaan konsumen, dan daya saing produk UMKM.
