Abstract

A decline in performance in automatic motorcycles that have been used for a long time is a common problem caused by wear and tear on the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system. This condition results in a reduction in the clamping force of the V-belt on the pulley, causing slippage and a decrease in transmission capacity. Based on the manufacturer's specifications, the torque is 8.32 Nm at 5500 rpm, while the test results show a torque of 7.41 Nm at 6500 rpm, a decrease of 10.9%. The study aims to analyze the effect of variations in pulley angle and surface roughness on the torque value of a 108 cm³ automatic motorcycle as a method to restore transmission performance without replacing the main components. The pulley angles tested were 14°, 13.8°, and 13.5°, while the surface roughness was varied based on the turning process with cutting inserts having nose radii of 0.2 mm, 0.4 mm, and 0.8 mm. The testing was conducted using a dynamometer at an engine speed range of 6000 – 9000 rpm. The results showed that the combination of a 13.8° pulley angle with a 0.2 mm cutting insert nose radius produced a torque of 7.41 Nm at 6500 rpm, an increase of 8.2% compared to the standard 14.5° configuration, which only produced 6.85 Nm. Modifying the pulley angle and surface roughness was proven to increase the V-belt clamping force, thereby improving transmission performance.

Abstract

Many used ABS plastic wastes have problems in their management. The aim of this research is to obtain a prediction of the fatigue life of a mixture of ABS plastic and used ABS as an injection molding product. The research method is carried out through the stages of mixing used ABS with a volume of 10%, 20%, and 30% in ABS grade A and grade B; making fatigue test specimen molds according to R. R. Moore standards, injection molding of a mixture of used ABS and ABS grade A and grade B, checking the straightness and smoothness of the specimen surface, fatigue testing with increasing serial loads, analysis and making a graph of bending stress (S) against fatigue life (N) (S-N Curve). The results of the study showed that the addition of used ABS had an effect on the fatigue life of both grade A and grade B of ABS, where the fatigue life of grade A of ABS increased with the addition of the volume percentage from 0% -30% of used ABS with the highest value at the addition of 30%, namely 43698.9 cycles, while in grade B of ABS, the fatigue life decreased with the increase in volume from 0% -30% with the highest fatigue life in grade B of ABS plastic without a mixture or 0%, namely 41377.5 cycles, the implication of which is that the addition of 0% -30% of used ABS in grade A can increase the fatigue life, but grade B of ABS actually decreases its fatigue life.

Abstract

The problem with previous studies was the use of polyester resin as a matrix in kacang goat hair fiber composites, whereas in the latest study, epoxy resin was used, which has not been widely used. The aim was to obtain the tensile strength of composites that could be used as an alternative material for fan blades. The research method used was experimental with composite fabrication using the hand lay-up method, varying fiber lengths of 10 mm, 20 mm, and 30 mm, and varying immersion times in a 5% NaOH solution for 25, 50, 75, and 100 minutes. Tensile strength testing was carried out using the ASTM D638 standard with a total of 36 specimens. The test results showed that specimens with a fiber length of 30 mm and a soaking time of 50 minutes produced the highest tensile strength of 28.69 MPa, while the lowest tensile strength of 15.38 MPa was obtained in specimens with a fiber length of 10 mm and a soaking time of 100 minutes. This indicates that the highest tensile strength value is 46.37% greater than the lowest value, so the combination of a fiber length of 30 mm and a soaking time of 50 minutes is determined to be the optimal parameter in this study.

Abstract

Minyak jelantah merupakan limbah dari minyak goreng yang telah digunakan berulang kali, dan sering menjadi masalah lingkungan dan kesehatan jika tidak dikelola dengan baik. Desa Besito, Kecamatan Gebog, Kabupaten Kudus, terdapat banyak UMKM di bidang kuliner yang menghasilkan limbah minyak jelantah dalam jumlah besar setiap harinya namun, belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Mahasiswa KKN Universitas Muhammadiyah Kudus melakukan program pengolahan minyak jelantah menjadi sabun batang pencuci pakaian sebagai solusi pengelolaan limbah yang ramah lingkungan. Proses pembuatan sabun melibatkan pengolahan minyak jelantah dengan metode saponifikasi yang menghasilkan sabun batang berkualitas untuk digunakan sebagai pencuci pakaian. Minyak jelantah dapat dikelola dengan baik menjadi produk yang bermanfaat. Selain sebagai bahan pencuci pakaian, produk sabun batang minyak jelantah punya bentuk menarik dan bisa dijadikan souvenir acara atau pernikahan. Kegiatan ini tidak hanya meningkatkan nilai guna limbah minyak jelantah tetapi juga memberikan edukasi tentang pentingnya pengelolaan limbah untuk pelestarian lingkungan. Program ini diharapkan menjadi langkah awal dalam menciptakan solusi inovatif untuk permasalahan limbah sekaligus memberikan manfaat ekonomi dan lingkungan bagi masyarakat Desa Besito.

Abstract

Hipertensi atau tekanan darah tinggi adalah kondisi di mana tekanan darah seseorang melebihi batas normal dan sering kali tidak disadari, sehingga dikenal sebagai silent killer. Lansia, yakni individu berusia 60 tahun ke atas, memiliki risiko lebih besar terhadap penyakit degeneratif seperti hipertensi, yang dapat menurunkan kualitas hidup dan produktivitas. Sebagai upaya meningkatkan pengetahuan lansia mengenai hipertensi dan pengelolaannya, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di Desa Besito, Kecamatan Gebog, Kabupaten Kudus, dilakukan melalui edukasi kesehatan dengan metode ceramah, diskusi, dan tanya jawab. Kegiatan ini juga dilengkapi pemeriksaan kesehatan untuk mendukung pemahaman lansia tentang pentingnya pencegahan dan pengelolaan hipertensi. Hasilnya, lansia menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi, aktif dalam diskusi, dan terjadi peningkatan pemahaman terkait pengendalian hipertensi. Diharapkan, kegiatan ini mendorong lansia untuk menjalani pola hidup sehat guna mencegah komplikasi dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan mereka.

Abstract

Acara kajian yang diselenggarakan pada hari Selasa, 17 Desember 2024, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai pentingnya kebersihan dan kesehatan lingkungan dalam perspektif Islam. Pemateri, Bapak Supardi, menyampaikan materi yang mendalam tentang konsep kebersihan dalam Islam, serta tanggung jawab manusia sebagai khalifah fil ardh atau pemimpin di bumi. Ceramah ini juga menguraikan bagaimana menjaga kebersihan dan merawat lingkungan dapat menjadi bagian dari ibadah dan kepedulian sosial. Selain itu, acara ini diwarnai dengan diskusi interaktif yang memungkinkan peserta berbagi pengalaman dan ide untuk menjaga kebersihan lingkungan di komunitas masing-masing. Acara diakhiri dengan doa bersama, memohon kepada Allah SWT agar memberikan keberkahan dan kesadaran kolektif dalam menjaga lingkungan. Melalui kegiatan ini, diharapkan peserta dapat menerapkan ilmu yang diperoleh dalam kehidupan sehari-hari untuk menciptakan lingkungan yang lebih bersih, sehat, dan lestari, serta memperkuat komitmen sosial dan spiritual dalam menjaga alam sebagai amanah dari Allah SWT.

Abstract

Gerakan penanaman pohon di Desa Besito, Kecamatan Gebog, Kabupaten Kudus, merupakan bentuk pengabdian masyarakat yang bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan dan mendukung keberlanjutan ekosistem. Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan partisipatif dengan melibatkan 30 peserta yang terdiri atas perangkat desa, karang taruna, masyarakat desa dan mahasiswa. Kegiatan ini meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan teknis, dan pelaksanaan penanaman pohon Tabebuya di lokasi strategis. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan partisipasi masyarakat sangat tinggi, dengan 100% peserta menyadari manfaat program ini, meskipun 20% mengungkapkan kekhawatiran terkait cuaca penghujan. Penanaman pohon memberikan dampak ekologis signifikan, seperti peningkatan kualitas udara dan pencegahan erosi, serta menumbuhkan rasa tanggung jawab masyarakat terhadap kelestarian lingkungan. Kesimpulannya, gerakan ini tidak hanya mendukung pelestarian lingkungan, tetapi juga menjadi model inspiratif bagi daerah lain dalam mengimplementasikan program serupa. Disarankan agar kegiatan serupa dilakukan secara berkelanjutan dengan pengawasan yang memadai untuk mendukung keberhasilan program jangka panjang. The tree planting movement in Besito Village, Gebog District, Kudus Regency, is a form of community service aimed at raising environmental awareness and supporting ecosystem sustainability. This service utilizes a participatory action research method involving 30 participants, including village officials, youth groups, local community members, and university students. The activities include socialization, technical training, and the planting of Tabebuya trees in strategic locations. Data were collected through observation and interviews, then analyzed descriptively. The results show that community participation is very high, with 100% of participants recognizing the benefits of this program, although 20% expressed concerns about the rainy season. Tree planting has significant ecological impacts, such as improved air quality and erosion prevention, while also fostering a sense of community responsibility for environmental conservation. In conclusion, this movement not only supports environmental preservation but also serves as an inspirational model for other regions to implement similar programs. It is recommended that such activities be carried out sustainably with proper oversight to ensure the long-term success of the program.

Abstract

The problems encountered are damage to the rubber wheel mount and universal/cross joints on the 90 m/hour capacity wood profile making machine, which can affect the uniformity and speed of wood profile making. Maintenance and repair planning aims to be able to create a maintenance and repair schedule for the 90 m/hour capacity wood profile making machine for the period 2026, estimate maintenance costs and the ratio of maintenance and repair costs to machine profits. The maintenance planning method includes collecting maintenance data from previous maintenance periods, reviewing the specifications of the wood profile making machine, estimating the age and price of components that are estimated to be damaged, estimating the cost and duration of dismantling and installing components that have been repaired in accordance with the provisions of the requirements for usable components or replacement spare parts, scheduling maintenance and repairs, estimating maintenance and repair costs for the period 2026, and determining the ratio of maintenance costs to profits. The planning results in the form of a maintenance-repair schedule for the period 2026; maintenance and repair costs in 2026, the ratio of maintenance costs to profits, and their implications indicate that the machine is still prospective and usable.

Abstract

Waste from used Polypropylene (PP) and High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) plastic is problematic in its management. The purpose of this research is to obtain the fatigue life of a mixture of used PP and HIPS plastics in its pure plastic. The research method is through the stages of mixing pure PP and 50% volume of used PP, pure HIPS and 50% volume of used HIPS, injection molding of R.R. Moore standard fatigue test specimens for pure PP, pure HIPS, pure PP + used PP, and pure HIPS + used HIPS, checking the straightness and smoothness of the molded specimen surface, fatigue testing with increasing serial loads, analysis of the bending stress curve (S) against fatigue life (N). The results showed that mixing used PP and used HIPS in pure plastic affected the fatigue life at the test speed (n)=2100 rpm for recycled PP was 9.84% shorter than pure PP, and at n=1600 rpm for recycled PP it was 9.32% shorter than pure PP, while at n=2100 rpm for recycled HIPS it was 4.45% shorter than pure HIPS, and at n=1600 rpm for recycled HIPS is 4.77% shorter than pure HIPS, while the fatigue life of pure PP is 1627704 cycles and the fatigue life of pure HIPS is 1291636 cycles or the fatigue life of pure HIPS is 20.65% shorter than pure PP, the implication of which is that the addition of used PP and used HIPS reduces the fatigue life to 9.84% for PP and 4.45% for HIPS.

Unexpected downtime of a 2 kg/hour coffee grinder is crucial in cafe operations, thus less guaranteeing the availability of the grinder. The purpose of component replacement and repair planning is to obtain a prediction of the maintenance and repair schedule and costs in the 2026 period. The component replacement planning method includes collecting previous maintenance and repair data, applying the inspection-replace-repair-overhaul (IRRO) method, assessing component conditions, predicting component life, predicting technician costs, predicting supporting work equipment and supporting materials to be used in maintenance, predicting the time to replace spare parts or reinstall components after repair, estimating maintenance and repair costs for the 2026 period, and calculating the ratio of maintenance costs to profits. The results of component replacement and repair planning obtained maintenance costs for the 2026 period are IDR 2,350,000, - with an estimated coffee grinder rental rate of IDR 25,000/hour which has the potential to be rented for 1440 hours/year, and the ratio of maintenance costs to profits is 6.5% which implies that the coffee grinder with a capacity of 2 kg / hour is still suitable for use for the next few years and still has the opportunity to make a profit.
