Abstract

This study was motivated by the limited quality of locally manufactured hoes, which are considered insufficiently strong and hard for soil cultivation activities such as digging, clearing, and leveling land, making them less competitive than imported products. The study aimed to produce a steel hoe measuring 35 × 22 × 0.7 cm with adequate strength, hardness, and wear resistance for soil cultivation. The manufacturing process included designing the hoe, selecting AISI 1020 low-carbon steel as the raw material, conducting the forging process at a temperature of 1,150–1,250°C, applying a carburizing heat treatment at 900°C for one hour, testing the product's hardness and chemical composition, installing a wooden handle, and inspecting product quality and dimensions according to applicable standards. The results showed that the manufactured steel hoe met the requirements of SNI 0331:2018 and achieved a hardness value of 37.842 HRC. The production cost was Rp150,000.00 per unit, with a manufacturing time of approximately 120 minutes per unit. The resulting hoe demonstrated adequate strength, hardness, and wear resistance, making it suitable for soil cultivation activities, particularly digging, clearing, and leveling agricultural land..

Abstract

Sharpening steel drill bits using a manual grinding machine often results in an incorrect angle that affects machining performance as a problem encountered. The production objective is to obtain a jig for grinding bit movement on the abrasion surface of the drill bit tip with a diameter between 6 mm and 16 mm until sharp. The production method includes: design of a jig with a feed thickness adjustment device from 0.1 mm to 0.3 mm, a movement angle adjustment from 0o to 33o, and a radius movement adjustment from 30 mm to 40 mm; selection of jig materials; 3D printing of ABS material for a jig for sharpening the cutting edge of the drill bit; testing of a jig for sharpening the cutting edge of the drill bit; performance analysis; and inspection of product quality and dimensions. The production results are in the form of a manual grinder for sharpening drill bits with a diameter between 6 mm and 16 mm with a total production cost of IDR 230,000/unit, and a process duration of 8 hours/unit, which implies that sharpening the blunt end of drill bits with a diameter between 6 mm and 16 mm can be carried out more quickly than manually.

Abstract

The 100 cm3 motorcycle oil pump gear spare parts are no longer produced by the factory in 2004, so consumers have difficulty obtaining them as a problem faced. The purpose of printing is to obtain 100 cm3 motorcycle oil pump gear spare parts that match the original specifications. The printing method includes: 100 cm3 motorcycle oil pump gear design, 100 cm3 motorcycle oil pump gear mold design, selection of plastic material from Nylon PA66, injection of Nylon PA66 into the 100 cm3 motorcycle oil pump gear mold at a temperature of 260°C, a pressure of 80 MPa, an injection holding time of 5 seconds, a cooling duration of 25 seconds, product release from the mold, mold channel cutting and finishing, and quality and dimensional inspection. The printing results are in the form of a 100 cm3 motorcycle oil pump gear with 25 teeth, a diameter of 53 mm, a thickness of 13 mm, and a bolt hole diameter of 6 mm with a dimensional tolerance of IT8, a surface roughness of Ra 1.2 µm, a total production cost of IDR 70,000,-/unit, and a process duration of 360 seconds/unit which implies that the 100 cm3 motorcycle, year 2004 can be re-functioned or can still operate with the supply of spare parts available according to the original specifications.

Abstract

A pair of minus-plus screwdrivers with motorcycle spark plug socket wrench handles that are often lost/lost is a problem. The production objective is to obtain a pair of minus-plus screwdrivers with a length of 160 mm and an M16 spark plug socket wrench. The production method includes: design of a pair of minus-plus screwdrivers and spark plug socket wrenches; selection of minus-plus screwdriver materials with a diameter of 8 mm and a pipe with a diameter of 16 mm x 90 mm, a thickness of 2 mm for socket wrenches from AISI 1045; forming of plus-minus screwdriver bits; forging socket wrenches into hexagons from 16 mm diameter pipes; drilling through the end of 9 mm diameter pipes; making 20 mm long screwdriver shaft torque retainer; installation of torque retainer tightness on the end of 12 mm inner diameter pipes, finishing of screwdriver shafts and socket wrenches; hot-dip galvanization on screwdriver shafts and socket wrenches; quality inspection, dimensions, and open-close packaging. The production results are a pair of 160 mm long minus-plus screwdrivers, 8 mm diameter screwdriver shaft with M16 spark plug socket wrench, 2 mm thickness of AISI 1045 zinc-coated steel, total manufacturing cost of IDR 22,000/unit, manufacturing duration of 12 minutes/unit which has the impact that a pair of minus-plus screwdrivers and socket wrench can be used and can be stored back in the container.

Abstract

Problems faced in the need for nails in the furniture industry, and various civil engineering works, which are uniform and standard sizes. The production objective is to obtain nails with a diameter of 5 x 50 mm, which are not easily rusted, with uniform and standard sizes. Production methods include: nail design with dimensions of 5 x 50 mm diameter; preparation of low carbon steel wire, AISI 1020, diameter 5 mm in the form of a coil with a diameter of 600 mm; straightening the steel wire coil through a die; cutting the tip of the pointed shape into a length of 50 mm; forming the nail head (haeding) with a head diameter of 8 mm and a head thickness of 1.5 mm; coating by dipping into molten zinc (hot dip galvanized) at a temperature of 500oC for 30 seconds; and quality control on shape, straightness, and dimensions. The production results are nails with a diameter of 5 x 50 mm which are rust-resistant, uniform and standard in size with a production cost of IDR 24,000/kg, a production process duration of 6 minutes/kg which has an impact on being used in construction, the furniture industry, and various civil engineering works wood, plastic, composites, thin metal plates, walls.

Abstract

Various viruses due to unhygienic spoon surfaces, especially those that are frequently used and repeated, if they do not meet health standards in mass washing have the potential to cause disease in subsequent users as a problem faced. The manufacturing objective is to obtain a tablespoon from stainless steel, SS304 measuring 180x42x1.5 mm, a concave depth of 10 mm, and a concave length of 55 mm. Manufacturing methods include: tablespoon design; selection of SS304 raw materials, 1.5 mm thick; cutting an oval spoon shape with a total length of 180 mm, for a concave length of 55 mm, a concave width of 42 mm, a handle width of 15 mm; curving the concave (deep drawing) to obtain a concave depth of 10 mm; engraving/stamping; punching a 3 mm diameter hole at the base of the spoon at a distance of 10 mm from the tip; chamfering on 2 sides of the hole; smoothing (finishing-polishing) on all edges of the spoon; quality and dimension inspection. The manufacturing results are in the form of stainless steel spoons made of SS304 measuring 180x42x1.5 mm, a concave depth of 10 mm, and a concave length of 55 mm, a handle width of 15 mm with a production cost of IDR 16,000/unit, and a process duration of 18 seconds/unit which implies that the spoon can be used to eat solid or soupy foods which afterward must be washed clean again and can be used repeatedly.

Abstract

Rusting of cookware that has the potential to contaminate food that becomes unhealthy is a problem in cooking. The manufacturing objective is to obtain a 200 mm diameter, 150 mm height, 1 mm thickness SS304 pan. The manufacturing method includes: design of a pan measuring 200 mm diameter, 150 mm height, 1 mm thickness; making punches and dies for forming the pan; making punches and dies for forming the pan lid; cutting 1 mm thick SS304 material with a diameter of 400 mm for the pan; deep drawing for forming the pan; cutting 1 mm thick SS304 material with a diameter of 237 mm for the pan lid; deep drawing for forming the pan lid; making the pan lid handle; installing the pan lid handle with bolts and nuts; trimming the pan and its lid; making a pair of pan handles; installing a pair of pan handles with rivets; finishing the pan and its lid; and checking the quality-dimensions of the pan and its lid. The manufacturing results are in the form of an SS304 pan with a diameter of 200 mm, a height of 150 mm, a thickness of 1 mm along with a pair of handles and a lid along with its handle with a total production cost of IDR 126,700/unit, and a process duration of 2.5 minutes/unit which implies that the pan can be used to cook food with a total volume including liquid of 4 liters and is able to cook up to boiling water temperature.

Abstract

LiFePO4 battery energy storage in the form of a container to drive an electric motorbike that requires 72 V and 11A for a distance of 42 km, and an average speed of 30 km/h as a problem faced in the field. The purpose of making a battery container is to be able to store 3.7 V, 250 mA energy with dimensions of 410 mm in length, 110 mm in width, 315 mm in height that can withstand a weight of 10.3 kg, a duration of 16 hours. The manufacturing method includes: preparation of 3 tensile test specimens and 3 flexural test specimens; tensile testing and flexural testing; design of a series of battery cell containers assembled with completeness of both hand grips; preparation of 3D printing ABS filament material; printing several containers, several clamps and several bolts with 3D printing; assembly with 3D printed clamps; stiffness and strength testing; and quality-dimensional inspection. The result of the manufacture is a LiFePO4 battery container with dimensions of 410 mm in length, 110 mm in width, 315 mm in height from ABS 3D printing, production costs of IDR 544,000.00/unit and a process duration of 87 minutes/unit, with a weight of 10.3 kg which means that the LiFePO4 battery container with dimensions of 410x110x315 mm, and specifications of 3.7, V 250 mA can be used well for certain types of electric motorbikes.

Abstract

Import of fabric safety pin products is still a problem faced in the market. The purpose of manufacturing is to obtain safety pins from low carbon steel wire measuring 50 mm in length and 0.5 mm in diameter and a circular curve with a diameter of 6 mm. The manufacturing method includes: design of wire bending equipment and equipment for forming the pinhead plate and the base of the pinhead, selection of raw materials of AISI1045 steel wire and pinhead steel plate, making the pointed tip with automatic sanding, bending the pinhead and forming the pinhead plate with a thickness of 0.5 mm, cutting the base of the wire, clamping between the base of the pinhead and the clamping head plate where the part that holds the end of the wire must be positioned correctly, electroplating black chromium on the assembled pinhead, checking the quality of dimensions, symmetry, and evenness of the nickel layer, packaging and labeling. The manufacturing results are medium carbon steel wire pins measuring 50 mm in length and 0.5 mm in diameter coated with black chromium, production costs of IDR 250,-/unit, and a process duration of 2 minutes/unit which implies that the binding between 2 pieces of cloth with the pin can be tied quite strongly.

Abstract

The short circuit is a single electrical cable made of copper, also known as a non-standard NYA type type electrical cable, which endangers safety as a problem faced in the field. The fabrication objective is to obtain a single NYA cable with a diameter of 2 mm, from copper material that meets standards, SNI 04-2698-1999 or SNI 04-6629.3-2006. Fabrication methods include: design and manufacture of single cable molds (die) diameters 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 mm; selection includes purchasing pure Copper cable materials in accordance with standards; gradual reduction in diameter from 8 mm to 2 mm; preparing extrusion machines with PVC type plastic material for single cable insulation; manufacture of standard single NYA cables with a diameter of 2 mm using a simultaneous extrusion machine by running a copper wire with a diameter of 2 mm followed by winding the cable every 50 m; and quality-dimensional-packaging inspection. The fabrication results are in the form of a standard NYA type single cable, SNI 04-2698-1999 or SNI 04-6629.3-2006 with a diameter of 2 mm with a total production cost of IDR 5,500/m, and a production duration of 0.5 minutes/m, which means that the NYA type cable can be used for a maximum power flow of 4,400 W.
