Abstract

The weight of the 4 mm caliber air rifle arm (hand grip) with an initial weight of 450 g and the abundance of underutilized coconut fiber are the problems faced. The purpose of the manufacture is to obtain an air rifle arm measuring 300x100x30 mm, 4 mm caliber from coconut fiber composite material with an air rifle arm weight of around 250 g. The manufacturing method includes: air rifle arm design; selection of coconut fiber material with a diameter of 0.3-0.6 mm with drying at a temperature of 80°C for 2 hours; making a left and right pair of air rifle arm molds; molding coconut fiber composites with polyester resin and 0.5% hardener with a random fiber arrangement with a length of 10 mm and a volume fraction of 20%; natural hardening (curing) for 24 hours; making a standard specimen of coconut fiber composite with the composition for impact tests with three replications; analysis of impact test results data; quality and dimension inspection of the air rifle arm composite. The result of the manufacturing process is an air rifle arm weighing 238 g, with a specific impact strength of 0.087 J/mm², with a total production cost of IDR 157,000/pair, and a production duration of 90 minutes/pair, which results in the total weight of the rifle decreasing from 6.5 kg to 6.3 kg.

Abstract

The difficulty of installing or removing the inner ring of the rolling bearing on its axis and installing or removing the outer ring of the rolling bearing on its housing are the problems faced. The purpose of fabrication is to obtain a tool for installing or removing the ring from the rolling bearing (bearing tracker) with a diameter range of 90 mm for a rolling bearing diameter of 75 mm whose dimensions match the dimensions of the rolling bearing. The fabrication method includes: design of auxiliary equipment for installing and removing rolling bearings, raw material selection, raw material cutting, component turning, component drilling, component welding, finishing-assembly, and quality and dimension inspection. The fabrication results are bearing trackers with a diameter range of 90 mm for a rolling bearing diameter of 75 mm whose dimensions match the dimensions of the rolling bearing, the total production cost is Rp. 240,000,-/unit, and the process duration is 30 minutes/unit which implies that the bearing tracker is able to work effectively as an auxiliary tool for installing or removing the inner or outer ring of the rolling bearing, safer steps, and more practical than manual methods.

Abstract

The cracking of gray cast iron castings in the form of pulleys can result in eroding the contact surface on the V-belt in its operation as a problem faced. The purpose of casting is to obtain a 4” diameter cast iron pulley, 40 mm thick pulley, 80 mm hub length, 18 mm axle hole, 50 mm hub diameter, and 72 mm inner diameter of the pulley belt groove. The casting method includes: design of a 4” diameter pulley with a hub length of 80 mm; making a sand mold without a core; drying the mold at 200oC; preparation of casting materials-equipment; melting cast iron up to 1,350oC with the addition of 10% scrap cast iron; casting molten metal into the sand mold; dismantling the casting, cutting the pouring bowl channel and riser; drilling an 18 mm diameter axle hole; turning the V-belt groove at a 38o angle with a depth of 15 mm; finishing; and quality-dimension-defect inspection. The casting results are cast iron pulleys with a diameter of 4”, pulley thickness of 40 mm, hub length-diameter of 80-50 mm, axle hole of 18 mm, inner diameter of the pulley belt groove of 72 mm without any cavity defects or cracks, total casting cost of IDR 100,000,-/unit and process duration of 6 minutes/unit which implies that the cast iron pulley can be used with a V-section rubber belt with a smooth contact surface.

Abstract

The ease of bending of nails when hammered into the cement concrete surface is a problem encountered in the field. The manufacturing objective is to obtain concrete nails with a diameter of 4 mm, a length of 50 mm that do not bend when hammered into the cement concrete surface. The manufacturing method includes: design of concrete nails with a diameter of 4 mm, a length of 50 mm; selection including the purchase of medium carbon steel, AISI 1045; straightening and reducing the wire rod (wire drawing) from a diameter of 10 mm to a diameter of 4 mm with 6 stages of reduction; cold forming (cold heading) of AISI 1045 material to form the nail head; cutting into the shape of the nail tip; and checking the quality-dimensions of the nails. The manufacturing results are concrete nails with a diameter of 4 mm, a length of 50 mm that do not bend easily when hammered into the cement concrete surface with a production cost of Rp 450,-/piece and a production duration of 45 seconds/piece which consequently means that the concrete nails can be nailed into the cement concrete surface without bending and can be produced on a small to medium industrial scale.

Abstract

The manufacturing method includes: design of 30 mm long M8 steel bolts and nuts; selection of 8 mm diameter SS304 material in the form of rolls with a diameter of approximately 60 cm; straightening and reducing the diameter from 8 mm to 7.9 mm; cold heading into a round head; cold heading into a hexagonal head; cutting 30 mm long bolts; threading with a threading machine; chamfering the bolt ends; cold heading into a 10 mm round head; cold heading into a 10 mm hexagonal head; cutting 10 mm long M8 nut candidates; threading M8 inner nuts with a tapping machine, chamfering 2 nut thread faces; and quality inspection by thread and dimension samples. The manufacturing results are 30 mm long M8 steel bolts and nuts made of SS304 with a total manufacturing cost of IDR 4,500/piece, and a process duration of 1.2 minutes/piece which means that the construction with these bolts and nuts does not have the potential to be a source of rust.

Abstract

The large number of modification orders for bicycle brake chuck holders, but rarely able to meet these needs is a problem faced in the field. The purpose of making is to obtain bicycle brake chuck holders from stainless steel, SS201 70x68 mm, 3 mm thick or according to modification orders. The manufacturing method includes: identification of consumer needs; design using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software; selection including purchasing of 3 mm thick SS201 plate material; cutting 72x72 mm SS201 plates, 3 mm thick with a shearing machine; marking for cutting shapes according to the design; cutting profiles with a cutting grinder into shapes according to the design and a tolerance of ± 0.3 mm, 3 mm thick; drilling 4 holes with a diameter of 9 mm at the location position according to the design; finishing; and product quality-dimensional inspection. The result of the manufacture is a bicycle brake clamp holder made of SS201 material, 70x68 mm, 3 mm thick with a manufacturing cost of Rp. 159,150,-/unit, and a manufacturing duration of 90 minutes, which means that the brake clamp holder can fulfill the function of placing the bicycle brake clamp and the modification needs of the customer.

Abstract

The problem lies in the scarcity and relatively high price of 300 g plastic hammers on the market. The manufacturing goal is to obtain a 300 g plastic hammer, 30 cm long, 5x4 cm oval diameter, with a wooden handle. The manufacturing method includes: design of a plastic head mold for one mold to produce two pieces; design of a steel mold for casting T-joints made of aluminum which are inserted with 2 M10 steel bolts with a length of 15 mm before casting; preparation of polypropylene (PP) plastic material by adding 10% used PP plastic and giving pigment colors according to order; PP injection molding at a temperature of 160oC, duration of 12 minutes; order of a wooden handle from a professional wood craftsman; assembly of a plastic hammer with a T-shaped aluminum casting; trial beating on a rubber block for thread bond inspection; finishing; quality-dimensional inspection. The manufacturing results are in the form of a polypropylene plastic hammer with a total weight of T Aluminum and 2 plastic hammer heads of 300 g (without wooden handles), a total length of 30 cm, an oval diameter of 5x4 cm, a manufacturing cost of IDR 70,000/unit and a manufacturing duration of 12 minutes/unit which has the consequence that the 300 g plastic hammer can be used for hitting metal without damaging its surface, especially for small movements in adjusting components or workpieces during machining or assembly.

Abstract

The factory did not produce the intake valve and exhaust valve of motorcycle in 2013, cylinder volume 200 cm3 as a problem encountered in the field. The production objective is to obtain the intake valve and exhaust valve of motorcycle from steel material, SS304, 5x95 mm rod with 29 umbrella and 5x95 mm rod with 34 mm umbrella. The production method includes: design of the intake valve and exhaust valve of motorcycle from steel material, SS304, 5x95 mm rod, 29 and 34 mm umbrella; selection of SS304 raw materials; forging of the intake valve and exhaust valve; turning of umbrellas and valve stems; finishing-smoothing; quality-dimension-standard inspection. The production results are in the form of motorcycle intake valves and exhaust valves made of SS304 material, intake valves with 5x95 mm stems and 29 mm umbrellas and exhaust valves with 5x95 mm stems and 34 mm umbrellas with a total production cost of Rp. 160,000,-/pair, and a process duration of 60 minutes/long which has an impact that 2013 motorcycles, 200 cm3 cylinder volume can be re-functioned with these valves or the supply of intake valves and exhaust valves is available on the market.

Abstract

The understanding of tertiary color concepts among elementary school students remains relatively low because the learning process tends to be teacher-centered and provides limited direct learning experiences. In addition, the implementation of learning activities that foster students’ growth mindset has not been optimized. This study aimed to determine the implementation of an experiment-based learning model integrated with a growth mindset approach on students’ understanding of tertiary color concepts in Grade III of SD Negeri 03 Pancor. This research employed a quantitative approach using a Pre-Experimental Design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants consisted of 27 third-grade students of SD Negeri 03 Pancor. Data were collected through tests and observations. The tests were used to measure students’ understanding of tertiary color concepts before and after the treatment, while observations were conducted to assess students’ growth mindset during the learning process. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the mean pretest score of 53.52 increased to 80.93 on the posttest. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test indicated a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), demonstrating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores after the implementation of the experiment-based learning model with a growth mindset approach. Observation results also revealed that students’ growth mindset reached 86.34%, which was categorized as very high. Therefore, the experiment-based learning model integrated with a growth mindset approach was effective in improving students’ understanding of tertiary color concepts in Grade III of SD Negeri 03  Pancor.
