Abstract

This study evaluated the free radical scavenging activity in ethanolic extracts from 20 accessions of Curcuma aeruginosa. The radical scavenging activity of the extract accessions was investigated with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical. IC50 values for DPPH radical scavenging activity ranged from 89.81 to 505.65 µg mL-1. Based on IC50 values, twenty accessions of C. aeruginosa can be divided into three groups: strong (two accessions); moderate (seventeen accessions); and low (one accession) of DPPH scavenger. Sukoharjo (SH) and Muara Bungo (MB) showed promising accessions for antioxidant potential, thus these accessions important to selection for future breeding program in pharmaceutical products.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to obtain morpho-physiological characters performances maize inbreed on acid soil condition. The experiment was conducted in a Nested Design with three replications. The first factor was environment, the second factor was 16 inbreds of maize. The experiment was conducted at two environments : acid soil with criteria of Al-dd 0.2 me.100 g-1 and acid soil with criteria of Al-dd 1.87 me.100 g-1. Abstract

This study aimed to obtain probiotic bacteria that are antagonistic bacteria to Colletotrichum acutatum and to improve chilli seeds quality. The purpose of this study was to obtain probiotic bacteria antagonistic to C. acutatum and prevent seed-borne diseases. The layout of the experiment arranged in completely randomized design factorial design with two factors. The first factor is the seed coating that consists of 6 levels i.e control / without coating (c0), coating without bacteria (c1), coating Bacillus sp. (c2), coating Pseudomonas sp. (c3), coating Actinomycetes sp. (c4) and fungicidal coating (c5). The second factor is the storage period is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 months. The results showed that three bacteria that are antagonistic to C. acutatum, i.e.Actinomycetes sp. (ATS6) having inhibition percentage of56, 8%, Bacillus sp. (B48) having inhibition percentage 56,7% and Pseudomonas sp. (P12) having inhibition percentage 46,7%. Application of probiotic bacteria increased viability and the health of chilli seed for storage period of 5 months, seen from maximum growth potential 80-84%, germination capacity 76-78,7%, infected seeds in coating of Actinomycetes sp., 2,6% and Bacillus sp., 6,7%.Bacillus sp. contained 91,8 ppm indole acetic acid (IAA) and 103,2 ppm giberelins (GA3), Actinomycetes sp. contained 89,6 ppm IAA and 92,5 ppm giberelin and Pseudomonas sp. contained 68,9 ppm IAA and 69,2 ppm giberelin.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the development and yield characteristics of 2nd generation of cowpea. Cowpea is a small legume with potential for future development as a food, feed, and even green manure. It also has the potential to be developed as a soybean substitute as a raw material for tempe. This study was place from July to September 2021, and it used a randomized block design with a single factor of four test varieties and three comparator varieties, with three replications. Test varieties (Albina, Uno, Tampi, Arghavan) and cowpea comparisons were used in this study (KT-1, KT-7, KT-9) on 2nd generation. The F test was used to analyze the data, and if the results were valid, the test was repeated using the LSD test (Least Significant Difference) at the 5% level. Plant height, stem diameter, number of branches, stem length, leaf length, petiole length, and leaf breadth were found to be diverse agronomic features in seven cowpea types grown in the lowlands, according to the findings. While the yield character revealed that the tampi variety had greater yields on the criteria of young pod productivity and seed productivity, namely 1.45 tons ha-1 and 7.53 tons ha-1, respectively, when compared to other kinds.

Abstract

Chili (Capsicum annuum L.) exhibits a wide range of variations in terms of crown shape, fruit shape, fruit color, leaf color, leaf shape, and taste. While chili is commonly known as a food plant, it also serves as an attractive ornamental plant. Specifically, ornamental chili plants are desired to possess specific traits, such as compact growth, high fruit yield, and a variety of fruit colors within a single plant. This study aims to comprehensively describe the quantitative and qualitative superiority of the Nazla IPB variety in terms of its characteristics. The research was conducted in the Leuwikopo Darmaga experimental garden's greenhouse, located in Bogor, utilizing a randomized complete block design with four replications. The Nazla IPB variety, which is an open-pollinated (OP) cultivar, stands out due to its short plant height, ranging from 17.83 to 26.42 cm, making it highly suitable for ornamental purposes. Furthermore, the chili plants of the Nazla IPB variety possess a compact crown shape, enhancing their visual appeal, coupled with their short stature (ranging from 21.83 to 26.69 cm). The primary distinguishing features of the ornamental chili variety Nazla IPB include: 1) the color of the leaves, which transition from green (Green 137 C) to purple (Purple N186 A); 2) the black color of the young chili fruit (Black 203 A); 3) the fruit shape of Nazla IPB, which can be described as moderately triangular; and 4) the fruit undergoes a color transformation from black to dark green and finally to red. Nazla IPB has potential to serve as an attractive decorative plant option.

Abstract

The cultivation of tomato in lowland experience many obstacles, such as low produvtivity. One effort to increase tomato productivity  in lowland is through selection of tomato genotype for high yield and yield component  in lowland. This study aims to determine the variability based on genetic information, heritability and correlation of characters as well as the yield components of tomato genotypes relationship patterns in the lowlands. A Randomized Complete Block Design was used to characterization base on best genotype of yield component character, genetic variability, broad sense heribility and correlation to yield. Genotype of tomato tested had diverse characteristics. Best genotypes based on the yield character is IPB T1, based on the number of fruit per plant is IPBT30, based on the fruit length and day to flowering is IPB T74, based on the fruit diameter is IPB T73 and fruit thickness is IPBT60. Wide genetic diversity has a high heritability. Number of fruit per plant, fruit length, fruit diameter, and fruit thickness has a wide genetic diversity and high heritability. Yield characters has a narrow genetic diversity and heritability is low. Characters that have a direct impact on the yield are the fruit diameter. Based on the cluster analysis, tomato genotypes are grouped into five groups. Group I consists of seven genotypes (IPBT1, IPBT58, IPBT60, IPBT64, IPBT78, IPBT80 and IPBT82), group II consists of one genotype (IPBT74), group III consists of three genotypes (IPB T13, IPB T73 and IPB T86), group IV consists of five genotypes (IPBT3, IPBT33, IPBT43, IPBT53, and IPBT3) which is characterized by fruit thickness, fruit length and days to flowering, and group V consists of one genotype (IPBT30).

Abstract

Tanaman cabai dapat dibudidayakan sebagai tanaman hias dalam pot karena keragaan tanaman yang tidak terlalu tinggi, memiliki buah yang berwarna-warni, dan tampilannya menarik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh beberapa komposisi pupuk AB mix terhadap penampilan genotipe cabai hias Viola, Adelina, dan Ayesha sebagai tanaman hias dalam pot. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di rumah kaca Kebun Percobaan Cikabayan, IPB Dramaga Bogor pada bulan Agustus sampai November 2019. Percobaan ini dilakukan menggunakan rancangan petak terbagi (split plot RKLT). Petak utama adalah pemupukan: P1 (AB mix cabai hara tinggi), P2 (AB mix cabai hara rendah), dan P3 (AB mix general). Anak petak adalah: G1 (Viola), G2 (Adelina), dan G3 (Ayesha). Peningkatan pertumbuhan dan keragaan cabai hias genotipe Viola, Adelina, dan Ayesha dapat dilakukan dengan pemberian pupuk AB Mix cabai baik yang memiliki kandungan hara tinggi maupun rendah dan AB mix general. Genotipe Viola dan Ayesha memiliki keragaan terbaik pada 10 MST dengan pemberian pupuk AB mix general. Tanaman cabai hias genotipe Adelina memiliki keragaan terbaik pada 10 MST dengan pemberian pupuk AB mix cabai hara tinggi. Abstract

Winged bean is a remarkable climbing plant, distinguished by its multiple segments that serve as growth sites for shoot, leaf and flower. Several studies have shown that the plant requires shoot pruning to increase the production of its flower buds, pods and seeds, but this practice can inhibit the generative phase. To overcome this challenge, the application of additional fertilizer is needed to provide the required nutrients. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effects of shoot pruning and additional fertilizer on the growth, yield and bioactive compounds of winged bean seeds. The determination of the proper rates of fertilization was important for plant production and to support sustainable agriculture. The study procedures were carried out at IPB experimental station in Leuwikopo, IPB University, Bogor. A Randomized complete block design (RCBD) was utilized with two factors and three replications, namely leaf pruning (without shoot pruning, 15 cm, and 30 cm from the ground) and additional fertilizer (0, 6.25, 12.5 and 18.5 g NPK 16-16-16 plant-1). The parameters observed included plant height, leaf nutrient, root length, yield, leaf number, as well as protein and fatty acid profile of seeds. The results showed that shoot pruning treatment and additional fertilizer had no interaction effect on plant growth and seed yield. Shoot pruning caused an increase in leaf number, fatty acid and linoleic acid content by 17% to 20%, 10%, and 16% to 19%, respectively, compared to the control. The use of additional fertilizer at a concentration of 6.25 to 12.5 g NPK (16-16-16) plant-1 increased leaf number, nutrients, and seed yield. Based on the findings, the highest seed yield (2.56 tons ha-1) was achieved with the application of additional fertilizer at the rates of 6.25 g NPK (16-16-16) plant-1, but shoot pruning was not required.

Abstract

Cabai merah (Capsicum annuum L.) merupakan salah satu komoditas hortikultura yang penting peranannya dari berbagai aspek, meskipun demikian produksi cabai merah di Kabupaten Karawang tergolong rendah dibandingkan dengan daerah lainnya di Jawa Barat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui korelasi antar penciri karakter kuantitatif terhadap produksi cabai hibrida IPB di dataran rendah Karawang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan April 2022 sampai Agustus 2022 di lahan Perusahan Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia (Peruri), Desa Sirnabaya, Kecamatan Telukjambe Timur, Kabupaten Karawang. Metode penelitan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktor tunggal terdiri dari 10 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan, sehingga terdapat 30 satuan percobaan dan setiap satuan percobaan terdiri dari 20 tanaman. Perlakuan terdiri dari F1074005 (G1), F1074003 (G2), F1374005 (G3), F1374005 (G4), CH3 (G5), Baja (G6), Balebat (G7), Elegance (G8), Imperal 10 (G9) dan Gada (G10). Data yang diperoleh akan dianalisis korelasi dengan aplikasi SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai korelasi positif tertinggi dengan produksi, beberapa diantaranya yaitu, produksi dengan jumlah buah per tanaman (0,895), produksi dengan tebal daging buah (0,559), dan produksi dengan persentase tanaman hidup (0,499).ABSTRACTRed chili (Capsicum annuum L.) is one of the important horticultural crops from various ascpects, but red chili production in Karawang regency is still low compared to other areas in West Java. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between quantitative character traits on the production of IPB hybrid chili in the lowlands of Karawang. This research was conducted in April 2022 until August 2022 on the land of Perusahaan Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia (Peruri), Sirnabaya Village, East Telukjambe District, Karawang Regency. The research method used a single factor Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 10 treatments and 3 replications, so there were 30 experimental units and each experimental unit consisted of 20 plants. The treatment consisted of F1074005 (G1), F1074003 (G2), F1374005 (G3), F1374003 (G4), CH3 (G5), Baja (G6), Balebat (G7), Elegance (G8), Imperial 10 (G9), and Gada (G10). The data obtained will be analyzed for correlation with the SPSS application. The results showed the highest positive correlation with production, some of which were production with the number of fruits per plant (0,895), production with the thickness of the fruit flesh (0,559), and production with the percentage of live plants (0,499).

Abstract

Percaya diri merupakan salah satu modal dalam kehidupan yang harus ditumbuhkan pada diri setiap peserta didik agar di masa mendatang mereka dapat menjadi manusia yang mampu mengontrol berbagai aspek yang ada pada dirinya sebagai kondisi psikologis yang paling berperan dalam menjalani kehidupan seseorang. Orang yang kurang percaya diri umumnya bersikap pasif, diam, tidak bergerak karena pikirannya yang negatif tentang dirinya sendiri maka cenderung merasa rendah diri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan peran manajemen pengembangan bakat dalam menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri pada peserta didik di SMA PESAT School of Talent. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis yang dimaksudkan untuk menggambarkan suatu fenomena yang dialami. Subjek penelitian ini melibatkan wakil kepala bidang pengembangan talent, staf bidang manajemen pengembangan bakat dan minat, dan pelatih. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan antaralain: (1) pengembangan talent berimplikasi dalam meningkatkan rasa percaya diri di kalangan peserta didik, (2) Branding School of Talent di SMA PESAT dinilai sangat efektif dalam meningkatkan rasa percaya diri pada peserta didik dan meningkatnya antusiasme mereka dalam mengikuti berbagai pentas kejuaraan.
