Abstract

Critical thinking skills are very important in 21st century mathematics learning. Critical thinking skills need to exist in every student in order to solve various kinds of problems, especially mathematical problems. According to Facione (2013) the indicators of critical thinking skills are: (1) interpretation, (2) analysis, (3) evaluation, (4) inference, (5) explanation, and (6) self-regulation. A student's response when encountering an obstacle is known as adversity quotient. Adversity quotient has three different types of levels namely: (1) climber, (2) camper, and (3) quitter. The purpose of the following research is to describe the type of research used, research trends related to students' mathematical critical thinking skills in terms of adversity quotient from 2018-2023, and the effect of adversity quotient on students' mathematical critical thinking skills. SLR is the method used by this research. The data collection technique was carried out by reviewing articles related to students' mathematical critical thinking skills in terms of adversity quotient in articles published around 2018-2023. There were 10 articles found through google schoolar and scopus. The results of this study show: (1) the type of research that is often used is qualitative; (2) most research is conducted at the junior high school level; (3) adversity quotient has a positive influence on the results of students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills encompass the oral and written abilities of students regarding the mathematical concepts they possess. The aim of basic mathematics education involves cognitive and social activities so that in communicative situations, students can enhance their learning interactions with others to obtain mathematical ideas. They should be capable of conveying their mathematical thoughts to others, developing mathematical concepts and strategies, and reflecting on their understanding of mathematics. Thinking styles are cognitive patterns that differentiate how students receive and process information and then use that information to solve problems, particularly in mathematical problem-solving. The objectives of this research are (1) to identify the types of research used in mathematical communication skills concerning thinking styles published in the last 5 years, (2) to identify research trends on mathematical communication skills and thinking styles in the last 5 years, and (3) to reveal the influence of students' thinking styles on mathematical communication skills, including the interpretation of mathematical problems, the selection of solution strategies, and mathematical problems solving abilities. The research method employed in this study is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Data collection involves reviewing articles related to students' mathematical communication skills concerning thinking styles published between 2018 and 2023. The findings indicate that (1) qualitative research is the most commonly used type of research, (2) research is predominantly conducted at the junior high school level, and (3) thinking styles significantly influence students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

The industrial revolution in the 21st century brought changes to the education system, especially in terms of learning media, where the media used must implement the results of innovation. For example, ethnomathematics is used to increase students' competence in finding solutions to mathematical problems. The aim of carrying out this research is to analyze the extent of students' abilities in solving mathematical problems after receiving based learning Problem Based Learning with ethnomathematics methods. Meanwhile, the research implementation method implements SLR (Systematic Literature Review) by reviewing several articles that have similar topics in the form of developing student competence in solving mathematical problems based on ethnomathematics in the Problem Based Learning learning modeland published between 2019 and 2023. The number of national and international articles used as literature studies was 13 articles. This article was obtained by researchers from the Google Scholar publish or perish database. Based on the analysis carried out, the results showed that the effectiveness of the ethnomathematics-based Problem Based Learning learning model was found in optimizing student competence in terms of solving mathematical problems.

Abstract

This research aims to develop patterns of students' mathematical literacy processes based on the Cognitive Load Theory (MLCLT). Research using Design-Based Research (DBR) aims to design and develop learning components in the form of resulting learning patterns arranged in 4 stages. The research results show that a CLT-based mathematical literacy process domain pattern has been found. For the aspect of formulating situations mathematically, the pattern of mathematization was produced, and it resulted in some students having good communication skills. For the element of employing mathematical concepts, facts, procedures, and reasoning, the pattern of application was produced, and it showed an increase in students' literacy processes for indicators such as mathematizing, representation, reasoning, argument, devising strategies for solving problems, using symbolic, formal, and technical language and operations, as well as using mathematical tools. The pattern for the aspect of interpreting, applying, and evaluating mathematical outcomes is the reflection pattern. In this pattern, students are already accustomed to having indicators of mathematical literacy processes related to devising strategies for solving problems, using symbolic, formal, and technical language and operations, as well as using mathematical tools so that they can produce real solutions to real-world problems.

Abstract

In 2022, the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) conducted a global creativity survey, revealing that Indonesian’s mathematical literacy ranks in the low category. To address this issue, enhancing student’s creativity skills in mathematics education is essential. One potential strategy is the application of problem-based learning models. This study aims to re-examine the effectiveness of problem-based learning in fostering students’ mathematical creative thinking skills. The research employs a systematic literature review approach, with data gathered from articles and research journals related to mathematical creative thinking and problem-based learning. The data sources are limited to studies published between 2020 and 2024.

Abstract

The problem in this Literature Review is to improve mathematical creative thinking skills through Augmented Reality. Creativity is a crucial skill to nurture in education, and mathematics plays a significant role in enhancing students' creative thinking abilities. Augmented Reality (AR) serves as a powerful educational tool, enabling educators to deliver information interactively and fostering creativity in students as they solve problems and address real-world scenarios. By utilizing AR as a medium for creative learning, it facilitates collaborative efforts among students and enhances their ability to think creatively. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, analyzing seven journal articles that explore the use of AR in improving creative thinking skills within the context of mathematics education.
