Abstract

The development of digital technology in the Society 5.0 era has significantly influenced changes in the character of elementary school students, leading to issues such as declining discipline, empathy, and social responsibility. This condition underscores the need for character education that is relevant to contemporary societal developments. This study aims to examine the contribution of the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children (7 KAIH) program to strengthening students’ character. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation at SDN Kaliwates 01. The findings revealed that implementing the seven habits waking up early, praying, exercising regularly, cultivating a love of learning, consuming healthy and nutritious food, participating in community life, and going to bed early positively influenced students’ character development. Students demonstrated improved discipline, responsibility, active engagement in learning, and greater social awareness. In addition, improvements were observed in students’ physical well-being and readiness to learn. The program’s success was supported by strong collaboration between the school and parents in guiding and consistently monitoring the implementation of these habits. Therefore, the 7 KAIH program contributes positively to strengthening character education among elementary school students and serves as a relevant strategy for addressing educational challenges in the digital era.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving is a core competency in elementary mathematics, yet many students still struggle to understand problems, select appropriate strategies, and evaluate solutions. Although the Discourse Multi Representation (DMR) model has been shown to improve mathematics learning outcomes, limited research has explained how it facilitates students' problem-solving processes. This study investigates the implementation of the DMR model and its role in developing mathematical problem-solving skills based on Pólya's problem-solving stages. A qualitative case study was conducted at MIN 3 Jember involving school leaders, a classroom teacher, and Grade III students. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, then analyzed using the interactive model of Saldaña. The findings reveal that DMR enhances problem-solving by integrating three complementary elements: multiple mathematical representations, collaborative mathematical discourse, and the systematic application of Pólya's stages. Students developed stronger conceptual understanding by connecting verbal, symbolic, visual, and contextual representations while collaboratively constructing solution strategies. The effectiveness of the model was supported by teacher facilitation, productive classroom discourse, student participation, and school support. This study proposes a Conceptual Model of Discourse Multi Representation, demonstrating that mathematical problem-solving develops through the integration of representation, discourse, and structured problem-solving processes in elementary mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the fundamental concept of evaluation from the perspective of the Qur'an and Hadith, focusing on three main aspects: the definition of learning evaluation in the Qur'an and Hadith, the objectives of learning evaluation in the Qur'an and Hadith, and the principles of learning evaluation derived from these two primary foundations of Islamic teachings. The background of this study stems from the awareness that the evaluation process in education is not merely intended to assess students' learning achievements but also serves as a means of nurturing moral character and strengthening spiritual values in accordance with Islamic law. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding is required of how learning evaluation is positioned within the framework of the values of the Qur'an and Hadith, so that its implementation is not only technical in nature but also embodies moral and spiritual dimensions. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method, which involves reviewing, examining, and analyzing data from various relevant primary and secondary literature sources, including Qur'anic exegesis, Hadith commentaries, and scholarly books on Islamic education. The results of the study indicate that learning evaluation from the perspective of the Qur'an and Hadith is not solely oriented toward cognitive learning outcomes but also encompasses affective and psychomotor aspects, emphasizing the formation of Islamic character, honesty, responsibility, and diligence in learning.

Abstract

Kitab Kuning learning in Salaf Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) faces a dialectic between preserving authoritative tradition (sanad, talaqqi) and adopting collaborative pedagogical innovation (peer teaching). This study aims to answer: How is this dialectic manifested in learning experiences, and what kind of hybrid pedagogy model can be developed? This study positions itself within the discourse of pedagogical glocalization, analyzing the negotiation between the traditional structure of pesantren and modern learning approaches through the lens of social construction theory. A phenomenological qualitative study was conducted in two Salaf Islamic boarding schools in East Java, involving 20 students and 4 teachers. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, then analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that: (1) Peer teaching enhances student agency and metacognitive awareness, yet remains framed within teacher authority; (2) Conventional methods preserve the spirituality of talaqqi but limit critical space; (3) Cultural resistance leads to the adaptation of a “guided musyafahah” model as a form of hybridization. The implication is that Kitab Kuning learning requires a contextual model that integrates authoritative transmission and collaborative exploration.

Abstract

The demonstration method is an instructional approach involving direct demonstrations by the teacher to help students understand the material more concretely. Through this method, students can observe, imitate, and practice what is demonstrated, making it easier for them to grasp specific concepts or skills. This method is particularly well-suited for subjects that require hands-on practice, such as learning Sujud Tilawah. At SMP Negeri 1 Banyuglugur, observations have shown that class VII students are still struggling to correctly understand and perform Sujud Tilawah. This is evident from the low student learning outcomes, both in terms of knowledge (cognitive) and skills (psychomotor). One of the main contributing factors is the predominately theoretical teaching method, which has not provided students sufficient opportunity to directly practice the procedures of Sujud Tilawah. By implementing the demonstration method, the teacher can directly show the correct movements of Sujud Tilawah, allowing students to better observe and practice these movements. This method is expected to improve both students' understanding and skills, as well as enhance their overall learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education, specifically in the Sujud Tilawah material. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to measure the effectiveness of the demonstration method in improving students' learning outcomes on Sujud Tilawah. Through this approach, students are expected to master the correct procedures of Sujud Tilawah and apply them properly in their daily lives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how madrasah principals instill Islamic spiritual values in the development of educational facilities and infrastructure in madrasas. The study used a qualitative approach with a multi-site case study. Research data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The results show that instilling spiritual values in the development of facilities and infrastructure is carried out through three main patterns. First, integrative planning based on intention (niyyah) and Islamic values-based design thinking, namely the construction of facilities, is understood as a trust and a form of worship oriented towards benefit. Second, accountable and sharia-compliant procurement based on the values of shiddiq and amanah through transparency, responsibility, and community participation through waqf and infaq. Third, the utilization and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure based on the culture of thaharah, maslahat, and iqtishad, which emphasizes cleanliness, usefulness, and efficient use of facilities. The implications of this research indicate that the spiritual leadership of a madrasah principal can transform the management of facilities and infrastructure from a mere administrative activity into a practice of Islamic educational management that is worshipful, sustainable, and strengthens the madrasah's religious culture.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of multicultural values in Akidah Akhlak learning and examine the process of fostering students’ tolerance at Madrasah Aliyah Nurut Tauhid Lumajang. A qualitative case study approach was employed. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, an Akidah Akhlak teacher, and Grade X and XI students. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that multicultural values were integrated through three dimensions: learning content, learning methods, and the school environment. Teachers connected the topic of Asmaul Husna, particularly the attributes Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim, with compassion, respect, and appreciation for diversity. Collaborative discussions and question-and-answer activities encouraged interaction among students from different ethnic and regional backgrounds. In addition, the school’s policy of using Indonesian as the common language promoted inclusive communication. Tolerance was cultivated through classroom instruction, teacher role modeling, and participatory learning, reflecting Thomas Lickona’s framework of moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action. The study concludes that Akidah Akhlak learning effectively promotes tolerance, inclusiveness, and social awareness, contributing to character development and harmonious coexistence within Indonesia’s multicultural society.
