Abstract

Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into language learning has transformed traditional educational paradigms, particularly in the context of English language acquisition among Islamic university students. This research aimed to assist Islamic university EFL students at Metro Lampung in using AI, especially machine translation and AI writing tools. The method used Participatory   Action   Research (PAR). PAR can act as a framework that facilitates collaboration between technology developers (AI) and English language learners. This assistance gave an impact for Islamic university EFL students. Using AI writing tools such as Grammarly presents many advantages for students, encompassing the refinement of grammatical precision and the fostering of autonomous writing skills. The merits considerably surpass the drawbacks when these tools are judiciously incorporated into the educational process. As students navigate the complexities of academic writing, the support of AI can serve as a conduit to heightened proficiency and self-assurance in their communicative abilities.  Moreover, assistance through Machine Translation, such as DeepL, emerges as an essential resource for students navigating the intricacies of multilingual academic landscapes. Its sophisticated technology, intuitive interface, and capacity for ongoing enhancement render it indispensable for improving comprehension and facilitating effective communication. The support it offers signifies a substantial progression in the domain of language translation, harnessing the potential of deep learning technology to provide superior-quality translations.

Abstract

Indonesia generates significant quantities of agricultural waste, including eggshells and rice husks, which often remain underutilized. This research-based community service project explores the innovative reuse of these materials—particularly rice husks—as eco-friendly components in the creation of calligraphy artworks. The objectives of the initiative were twofold: (1) to introduce and highlight the potential of eggshells and rice husks as sustainable, alternative materials for calligraphic art; and (2) to provide hands-on training on the practical techniques of producing calligraphy using eggshell fragments and rice husk-based paper. Utilizing the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the project actively involved the El-Ka Lampung Calligraphy Studio community in Metro City, Lampung. The outcomes of the initiative included the successful production of calligraphy pieces that exhibited both aesthetic appeal and distinctive textures resulting from the incorporation of organic materials. Moreover, the project fostered greater community awareness of environmentally sustainable art practices and enhanced participants’ skills in utilizing local waste products creatively. This initiative demonstrates how integrating traditional art with ecological awareness can empower communities and promote sustainable cultural innovation.

Abstract

MALL (Mobile-Assisted Language Learning) in educational settings has become increasingly widespread. Particularly in the English learning and teaching process. There are various studies investigating MALL which is believed to help improve language learning and teaching process. This paper systematically explored the use of MALL in English learning and teaching processes across educational levels in Indonesia based on empirical studies. Forty-five articles were selected from reputable journals, reviewed to identify the pedagogical approaches offered by MALL to know the potential mobile device tools that could be used in the English learning and teaching process. The findings have shown a steady increase in research on the use of MALL across educational levels in Indonesia. However, the need for improvement studies employs the mixed-method approach, qualitative and quantitative for future studies. In addition, further investigation is also required to assess the efficiency of MALL in enhancing English skills. In order to understand how MALL promotes multimodal material, learners’ autonomy, incorporates real, and increases students’ engagement through gamification, this study synthesizes current empirical data with an emphasis on the Indonesian context. This study offers a contextualized understanding of pedagogical techniques pertinent and mobile learning tools to Indonesian Education levels. In contrast to other reviews that concentrated on specialize ability or more general global viewpoints. To sum up, future research should focus on the thoughtful integration of MALL, pedagogical approach, and the potential mobile device tools that can be used to yield more meaningful outcomes
