Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of education in character formation in elementary school children and identify the forms of implementation and challenges faced in its implementation. Character education in elementary schools plays a strategic role because children are at the early stage of forming attitudes, values, and behaviors. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research subjects included elementary school teachers and students, while the research object focused on the implementation of character education in learning and school culture. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain comprehensive data. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, using triangulation of sources and techniques to maintain data validity. The results indicate that education plays a significant role in character formation in elementary school children through teacher role models, the integration of character values into the learning process, and the instillation of these values through school culture and non-academic activities. The dominant character values formed include discipline, responsibility, honesty, cooperation, and social awareness. Consistently implemented character education has a positive impact on students' social behavior and learning motivation. However, this study also identified several obstacles in its implementation, such as limited learning time, differences in family backgrounds, and suboptimal parental involvement. Therefore, synergy between schools, teachers, and parents is necessary for effective and sustainable implementation of character education, fostering character and noble morals in students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of basic education regulations as a primary foundation for enhancing teacher professionalism in elementary schools. Teachers hold a strategic role as change agents who determine the success of the learning process and the quality of human resources nationally. However, challenges such as limited 21st-century skills and differing perceptions of policies often hinder the optimization of teacher performance. The method used is a literature review, analyzing secondary data from reputable scientific articles. Analysis results show that education regulations provide a strong legal basis for governing teacher qualifications, certification, and competence. Strengthening professionalism can be achieved by synchronizing regulations with structured academic supervision programs and continuous development within learning communities. The study concludes that the effectiveness of regulations depends heavily on consistent supervision and adequate resource support. Proper policy implementation is proven to contribute significantly to improving the standards of pedagogical, personal, social, and professional competencies of elementary school teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of social media, particularly Instagram, in improving students’ ability to write recount texts. A quantitative experimental design was employed with 70 eleventh-grade students divided into an experimental group (Instagram-assisted instruction) and a control group (traditional instruction). Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, questionnaires, classroom observations, and document analysis to measure writing improvements in structure, vocabulary, grammar, and coherence. The findings indicate an improvement in writing skills in both groups, with a more significant increase observed in the experimental group. The average pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental class rose from 4.25 to 5.54, while the control class increased from 3.87 to 4.93. A paired sample t-test confirmed statistical significance with a Sig. value of 0.000 in both groups, underscoring the effectiveness of using social media in learning. Questionnaire results revealed that students experienced increased motivation, creativity, and confidence, while minor technical challenges were reported. Instagram proved to be an effective, interactive, and contextual learning medium.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in Class X SMAN 1 Pelangiran remains suboptimal due to the dominance of lecture-based methods and conventional teaching materials, resulting in passive student engagement and low learning outcomes (only 41.38% completeness). This study aimed to develop a TPACK-based Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) for geometry materials to enhance learning effectiveness. TPACK integrates technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge, while E-LKPD promotes interactive, technology-assisted learning. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the E-LKPD was designed with multimedia elements such as videos, quizzes, and digital navigation. Expert validation results indicated high feasibility: material (95.4%), media (80%), and language (90.55%). Practicality tests showed the E-LKPD was very practical for teachers (90.95%) and students (85.25%). Effectiveness was demonstrated through an increase in students’ average scores from 17.31 in pre-test to 61.21 in post-test, with and N-Gain of 57%. The findings conclude that the TPACK-based E-LKPD is valid, practical, and effective in supporting more interactive and adaptive mathematics learning.

Abstract

The urgency of this study stems from the lack of interactive and contextual learning media in early-grade mathematics, which limits students’ creativity. This research aimed to develop an electronic module based on Problem-Based Learning to enhance the creative thinking skills of second-grade elementary students, particularly in learning simple fractions. Employing a research and development approach using the Plomp model, the study consisted of three phases: preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment. Data were collected through expert validation, questionnaires, and student performance assessments, then analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The results showed that the developed e-module was valid based on expert judgment (average validity score > 0.90), practical according to teacher and student responses (average practicality > 85%), and effective in improving creativity, as evidenced by increased scores in fluency, flexibility, and originality (mean score 80.44%). The findings indicate that integrating Problem-Based Learning into digital modules can significantly support the development of students' creativity and engagement in mathematics. This innovation offers practical implications for curriculum-aligned learning media and supports the development of 21st-century skills. Further research is recommended to explore broader applications and incorporate adaptive digital features.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of the Dick and Carey instructional model and students’ creativity on mathematics learning outcomes among elementary school students. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a 2×2 factorial structure, the research involved 51 fifth-grade students from two comparable schools in the Banuhampu District, West Sumatra. The experimental group received instruction using the Dick and Carey model, while the control group followed conventional teaching methods. Creativity was measured using a validated questionnaire, and learning outcomes were assessed through a posttest aligned with curriculum indicators. The results show that students taught using the Dick and Carey model achieved significantly higher learning outcomes than those taught conventionally. Furthermore, students with higher levels of creativity consistently outperformed their lower-creative peers in both instructional groups. However, statistical analysis indicated no significant interaction between instructional model and creativity level, suggesting the model’s universal applicability across diverse learner profiles. The study concludes that the Dick and Carey model is effective in enhancing mathematical understanding regardless of creativity level, offering a structured yet inclusive approach to classroom instruction. These findings provide valuable insights for teachers and curriculum developers aiming to optimize learning through systematic design and the integration of learner creativity.
