Abstract

Background: Artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) has significantly contributed to environmental degradation, including deforestation, soil erosion, water pollution, and mercury contamination. This literature review explores sustainable recovery strategies, highlighting successful restoration efforts, challenges, and policy gaps. Method: The study examines existing literature on post-ASGM restoration efforts, focusing on community-led rehabilitation programs, technological innovations, and policy interventions. Data were collected from peer-reviewed journals, policy reports, and case studies to identify key trends, challenges, and best practices in ecosystem recovery. Results: Community involvement plays a crucial role in rehabilitation programs, with local-led reforestation, land reclamation, and sustainable livelihood initiatives demonstrating positive environmental and socioeconomic outcomes. Strengthening community participation through capacity-building, incentives, and participatory governance is essential for long-term success. Technological innovations have significantly contributed to mitigating ASGM-related environmental damage. Mercury-free gold extraction methods, bioremediation, and remote sensing techniques have improved restoration efforts, yet their accessibility remains a challenge in ASGM-affected regions. Increased investment in technology transfer and research collaboration is needed to bridge this gap. Additionally, integrating traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) with modern restoration strategies enhances environmental sustainability while respecting local cultural practices. Despite its potential, TEK is often overlooked in policy frameworks, limiting its broader application. Conclusion: The review identifies policy gaps in existing governance structures, emphasizing the need for stronger enforcement, financial mechanisms, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. Ensuring a balance between conservation goals and local livelihoods requires sustainable economic alternatives such as agroforestry, ecotourism, and responsible mining practices. Collaborative efforts among governments, NGOs, private sectors, and local communities are crucial to fostering long-term ecosystem recovery. Novelty/Originality of this article: This review provides valuable insights for policymakers, environmental organizations, and researchers working towards sustainable ecosystem recovery post-ASGM. It highlights the integration of TEK with scientific approaches, the role of technological innovations in restoration, and the necessity of participatory governance.

Abstract

Innovative technology solutions are developed to help patients manage their medication more effectively. Diabetes is a chronic disease that requires regular monitoring of blood sugar levels and proper regulation of medication consumption. This system is designed to assist diabetics in remembering when to take their medication and to ensure the correct dosage in accordance with the doctor’s recommendations. It utilizes an IoT device connected to a mobile application or web-based platform, allowing users to receive notifications at predetermined times. Additionally, the system includes patient condition monitoring features, such as blood sugar level tracking synchronized with measurement devices. The collected data is transmitted in real-time to the application, enabling both patients and medical personnel to monitor treatment progress and make necessary adjustments. Through the integration of IoT, this system not only enhances patient adherence to medication schedules but also provides better analysis of medication effectiveness and potential risks, thereby minimizing negligence in medication consumption. The implementation of this technology has the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for individuals with diabetes.

Abstract

This article elaborates on the contribution of thought by Osman Nuri Topbaş in responding to modern science. Science has an inherent paradigm: nature has a law that has a fixed character and does not change, so it works mechanically and God is no longer involved in the next movement of nature. The consequence of this paradigm is that science is very quantitative and positivistic with empirical methods and mathematical logic. To respond to this paradigm, Topbaş is critical on the one hand but is appreciative of scientific findingson the other hand. His critical attitude is aimed at the establishment of scientists who deny metaphysical cosmology, while his appreciative attitudeis shown by making scientific data a reinforcement of the spiritual dimension of Sufism. The weakness of scientists must be refinedwith Sufism. Because Sufism perusesinside and reveals the secrets and wisdom of all universe phenomena. If science focuses on the material and visible world, Sufism guides human beingsto explore deeper into the realm of reality. This means that every discovery related to the material world is proof of the mightand dominanceof the Creator. From this fact, it can be said that science helps reveal the wonders of divine art to the surface, while Sufism directs humans to increasingly admire and appreciate the Creator.

Abstract

Abstract Injury events cause 7% of deaths worldwide, and this figure is expected to continue to increase. In addition, injuries and trauma result in approximately a 16% reduction in life expectancy due to disability (Disability Adjusted Life Year/DALY). Of these events, 12.8% are due to unintentional causes, and 3.2% are due to intentional injuries. Traffic accident-related injuries rank tenth as a cause of death and rank first among all types of injuries worldwide. The target audience of this Community Partnership Program is the UKS cadres at SDN 1 Blang Mangat. The goal of this activity is to improve student health and enhance wound care skills for UKS cadres at SDN 1 Blang Mangat, Lhokseumawe City. The problem encountered is that the students' skills in providing basic wound care are not yet effective, and the coaching of UKS cadres in performing basic wound care is not optimal. The methods used in this activity are education and simulation regarding wound concepts, the wound healing process, infections in wound care, and wound care techniques. The expected outcomes from the implementation of this PKM are increased knowledge of UKS cadres about wound concepts, the wound healing process, infections in wound care, and wound care techniques. The UKS cadres' skills in applying wound care techniques are also expected to improve. Keywords: UKS cadre, Education, Wound care
