Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of behaviorism theory in improving students' discipline and basic cognitive abilities in science learning in elementary schools. The study focuses on stimulus-response-based learning strategies, particularly through repeated practice (drill), direct reinforcement, and providing rapid and specific feedback. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method. Data were collected through searching scientific documents obtained from various sources such as Tandfonline, Routledge, ERIC, Google Scholar, Academia, and national repositories, with the keywords "behaviorism in elementary education", "reinforcement of positive behavior in the classroom", and "basic cognition in science learning". A total of 14 relevant documents were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman & Saldana model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity testing was carried out using the criteria of credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability according to Moleong. The results of the study indicate that the behaviorist approach can be applied effectively to form disciplined learning habits and strengthen students' understanding of basic science concepts. With appropriate reinforcement, students show increased attention, responsibility, and active involvement in the learning process. These findings recommend the use of contextual behaviorist principles in science learning in elementary schools to shape positive and constructive learning behavior.

Abstract

Abstract

Misunderstanding human nature as the central purpose of education has led to inaccuracies in policymaking, pedagogical approaches, and educational practices, resulting in the suboptimal development of human potential. This study aims to analyze human nature as that of pedagogical beings by examining the optimization of fitrah, hearing, sight, and the heart as fundamental human potentials, as well as their implications for the development of Islamic education. This library-based study draws on data from scholarly books and peer-reviewed journal articles, which are analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that human potential is integrative in nature, comprising fitrah as the foundational orientation, hearing and sight as epistemic instruments, and the heart as the moral–spiritual core. The integration of these dimensions forms a holistic educational system oriented toward the formation of insān kāmil. These findings imply the necessity of repositioning human nature as the core of educational design through a balanced integration of ‘aqliyyah and qalbiyyah, the integration of knowledge within the curriculum, and the harmonization of Islamic values, cultural contexts, and the demands of global modernity in educational governance.

Abstract

The evaluation of Fiqh learning in higher education requires not only measuring students’ conceptual mastery but also assessing the capacity of assessment instruments to capture the dimensions of value internalization and attitudinal practice. Therefore, the quality of questionnaire instruments used to assess non-cognitive aspects plays a crucial role in determining the accuracy of evaluation outcomes. This study aims to develop and validate a questionnaire instrument to measure students’ engagement with aspects of Jinayah in the Fiqh course, ensuring it meets established standards of validity and reliability. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach, with participants drawn from students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at UIN Alauddin Makassar. Data were collected using a closed-ended Fiqh Jinayah practice questionnaire based on a Likert scale. Data analysis focused on assessing the instruments' validity and reliability. Item validity was examined using the Pearson Product–Moment correlation, while instrument reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient, with the assistance of SPSS software. The results indicate that of 40 items tested, 36 were found valid, while 4 did not meet the validity criteria. Meanwhile, the reliability analysis yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.899, indicating very high internal consistency. These findings suggest that, overall, the Fiqh Jinayah practice questionnaire demonstrates good quality, is valid and reliable, and is therefore suitable for use as an evaluation tool to assess students’ practice in Fiqh learning at the higher education level. The instrument is expected to support a more comprehensive evaluation of learning that emphasizes the internalization of Fiqh Jinayah values.

Abstract

This study aims to examine strategies for holistic student development based on their individual characteristics. The method used is literature review with a conceptual-critical approach. The findings reveal that the development of students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains must be grounded in a thorough analysis of age, learning styles, cultural background, socioeconomic status, and special needs. Integration of these three domains is effectively achieved through contextual, differentiated, and inclusive teaching approaches such as Problem-Based Learning and Project-Based Learning. Learning tailored to students’ characteristics has been shown to enhance effectiveness, active participation, and the balance between academic achievement and character formation. This aligns with Islamic educational principles that emphasize the harmony of intellect (‘aql), heart (qalb), and body (jasad). Keywords: affective, cognitive, holistic, psychomotor, student characteristics
