Abstract

Background: Digital transformation in Indonesian public health governance has placed new demands on employee performance at District/City Health Offices. Despite growing evidence on leadership-performance linkages, the specific mechanism through which visionary leadership shapes employee performance via work environment in Indonesian public health organizations remains empirically underexplored. This study investigates the mediating role of work environment in the relationship between visionary leadership and employee performance. Method: This quantitative cross-sectional study surveyed 180 Standard Minimum Service program managers across 27 District/City Health Offices in West Java Province using proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 3.0, testing three hypotheses regarding visionary leadership, work environment, and employee performance relationships. Results: All three hypotheses were supported. Visionary leadership demonstrated a very strong direct effect on work environment (β=0.916, t=43.512, p=0.000), and work environment significantly influenced employee performance (β=0.439, t=2.854, p=0.016). The indirect mediation path was significant (β=0.402, t=2.798, p=0.005), confirming full mediation. The direct effect of visionary leadership on performance was not significant (β=0.183, p=0.239), establishing that work environment is the necessary conduit for leadership's performance impact. Conclusion: Visionary leadership increases employee performance exclusively through the creation of a conducive work environment, not through direct supervision. Health office leaders should prioritize investments in technology infrastructure, collaborative organizational climate, and supervisor support systems. These findings align with Islamic management principles of amanah (trustworthiness), tabligh (communicative vision), and ta'awun (mutual cooperation).

Abstract

Background. This study stems from the urgent need to comprehensively understand the various contextual factors that contribute to student academic achievement, particularly through the synergy between school leadership and parental involvement within the framework of a sequential mediation model. Purpose. This study aims to systematically synthesize and analyze various empirical findings related to the implementation of sequential mediation models in an educational context, linking school principal leadership, parental support, and student achievement. Method. The approach used was a systematic narrative review involving the examination of relevant, reputable scientific articles, selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, which were then analyzed thematically to identify patterns of relationships among variables. Results. The study findings indicate that effective school principal leadership serves as an independent variable that drives increased parental participation and support, which ultimately has a positive impact on student achievement as the dependent variable. Conclusion. Therefore, it can be concluded that strengthening educational leadership integrated with parental involvement within a sequential mediation framework is an effective strategy for improving the quality of student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Financial sustainability is a decisive condition for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) because it determines whether firms can maintain liquidity, generate stable profitability, absorb shocks, and finance growth. Drawing on Dynamic Capability Theory and the Resource-Based View, this study examines how managerial capability contributes to SME financial sustainability through product innovation and how access to finance strengthens the innovation-sustainability relationship. The research used a quantitative survey design involving 350 SME owners and managers in West Java, Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured seven-point Likert questionnaire and analyzed with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that managerial capability has a strong positive effect on product innovation (beta = 0.727; t = 19.755; p < 0.001), product innovation positively affects financial sustainability (beta = 0.411; t = 4.876; p < 0.001), and managerial capability directly improves financial sustainability (beta = 0.231; t = 5.422; p < 0.001). Product innovation significantly mediates the effect of managerial capability on financial sustainability (indirect effect = 0.299; t = 5.742; p < 0.001), while access to finance positively moderates the effect of product innovation on financial sustainability (beta = 0.218; t = 3.108; p = 0.002). The findings support a Dynamic Capability-Based Financial Sustainability Model for SMEs, suggesting that managerial capability becomes financially meaningful when translated into innovation and supported by adequate financial access. The study contributes to strategic management, entrepreneurship, and SME sustainability literature by clarifying the capability-innovation-finance mechanism through which SMEs improve long-term financial viability in an emerging economy context.   Keywords: managerial capability; product innovation; access to finance; financial sustainability; SMEs; dynamic capability; PLS-SEM

Abstract

Kesenjangan kompetensi lulusan dengan kebutuhan industri mendorong berkembangnya program sertifikasi kompetensi, namun kepemilikan sertifikat belum tentu menjamin kesiapan psikologis memasuki dunia kerja.

Abstract

This study examines the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between the work environment and employee loyalty at a savings and loan cooperative in Kuningan Regency (referred to as KSP X) facing declining employee loyalty reflected in fluctuating and relatively high turnover. Grounded in Social Exchange Theory and Herzberg's Two-Factor Theory, the research adopts a quantitative associative design using a survey method. A saturated sampling technique was applied to the entire population of the cooperative's employees, and data were collected through a questionnaire and analysed using path analysis and the Sobel test. The findings reveal that the work environment has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction and on employee loyalty, that job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee loyalty, and that job satisfaction significantly mediates the effect of the work environment on employee loyalty in a partial mediation pattern. These results confirm that a good work environment strengthens employee loyalty most effectively when it also raises job satisfaction. The cooperative is therefore encouraged to improve its work environment and to give priority to job satisfaction as the main way to build loyalty and reduce turnover.
