Abstract

Universities aim to achieve intelligent education through innovative learning methods. Students desire models to develop their skills, and this can be achieved through peer modelling with their peers. This research aims to develop a peer modelling-based digital module to enhance students' understanding of the Personality Development Practicum course, as an effort to improve the ideal personal qualities of prospective counselors. The research design uses the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects in this study are material experts (guidance and counseling lecturers), media experts (learning technology lecturers), and potential users (guidance and counseling students). The results show that the digital module is equipped with video explanations, PowerPoint, infographics, motion graphics, and peer modelling videos. Based on the validation results by material experts, media experts, and potential users, the digital module is considered valid in terms of accuracy, usefulness, attractiveness, and ease of use. Further empirical evidence is needed to support the use of the peer modelling-based digital module in developing the ideal personal qualities of prospective counselors.

Abstract

Observation skills and curiosity are crucial for elementary students’ learning, but remain underdeveloped in Indonesia, where PISA (2021) reported that 56% of students struggle to identify key information in texts. This quasi-experimental study involved 80 fourth-grade students, divided into two groups: experimental and control. Over four weeks, the experimental group received lessons that integrated Dual Coding (text-image pairing and color-coded diagrams) and Chunking (breaking content into small, thematic units)—a 25-item, validated test measured both skills. Results from independent t-tests showed significant improvements (p < 0.05) across all indicators, with an average score increase of 18% in the experimental group. These findings confirm that structured multimodal strategies enhance visual-verbal processing, analytical thinking, and exploratory motivation. Practically, the study suggests that primary school curricula should incorporate cognitively ergonomic techniques to foster deeper engagement and higher-order thinking, offering a replicable model for inclusive and practical instructional design. Keywords: cognitive ergonomics, dual coding, chunking, observation skills, curiosity

Abstract

The phenomenon of microaggressions is a manifestation of implicit discrimination that threatens the psychological health of adolescents, with a prevalence of 84% in Southeast Asia and an escalation of 27% in identity-based bullying cases in the 2022–2023 period. This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) aims to analyze the integration of the values of the Gending Sriwijaya Dance as a group counseling modality to reduce microaggression behavior among junior high school students. The methodology used a systematic literature review with the PRISMA protocol and analyzed 15 high-quality articles from the period 2020–2024. The findings identified the intrinsic values of dance, including respect, togetherness, subtlety, and wisdom, that were significantly correlated with the formation of intercultural tolerance. The Gending Sriwijaya dance was chosen in the SLR because it contains a local cultural philosophy that is responsive to the socio-cultural context of Indonesia and has transformative potential in psychological intervention. The group counseling model based on embodied learning through the philosophical and kinesthetic dimensions of dance showed superior effectiveness in enhancing empathy and inclusive behavior compared to conventional interventions. The research contributes by providing an innovative theoretical framework for culturally responsive counseling and recommendations for the development of structured intervention modules as well as multicultural competency training for educational counselors.

Abstract

Psychological pressure can hinder students from performing optimally in academic settings. In response, self-compassion (SC) emerges as a crucial skill to help students manage stress and maintain mental health. While previous research has predominantly examined SC in clinical contexts, this study offers a novel perspective by investigating its application within an academic setting. The aim is to develop a theoretical model that explains the role of SC in addressing psychological academic challenges. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA model, supported by big data and visualized through VOS viewer. Using the Publish or Perish application, 505 articles were identified from Scopus- and Sinta-indexed journals (Elsevier, PubMed, Crossref, Google Scholar) published between 2019 and 2023. Nineteen articles were selected for in-depth analysis. The results reveal two academic categories: positive and negative. Self-compassion enhances variables in positive settings and moderates the effects of negative academic stressors. This research contributes to the design of psychological intervention strategies for students. Keywords: psychological academic challenges, big data, self-compassion, students

Abstract

One of the most pressing issues in teacher education is the relatively low graduation rate of students enrolled in these programs. This is due to a lack of in-depth knowledge and proficiency in responding to the content and format of teacher certification exams. This study aims to develop a question database and a mobile application-based tryout system to improve student learning outcomes, thereby reducing the graduation rate of teacher education program students. This study employs a development research approach based on the ADDIE model. The research subjects include 120 students for needs analysis, three experts in media, content, and instructional design, and one expert for system feasibility testing. Data collection methods utilize two primary instruments: expert validation and learning outcome tests. The data obtained were then analyzed quantitatively. The research results indicate that the Question Database and Mobile App-Based Practice Test System met validity criteria, with an average score of 94% for media expert validation, 90% for content expert validation, and 93% for instructional design validation. The system feasibility test indicated that the question database application and mobile app-based tryout system were rated “successful” in every application component. This indicates that the application is suitable as a simulation tool for students in the teacher education program. Hopefully, this application can improve learning outcomes and increase the graduation rate among students in the teacher education program.

Abstract

The academic readiness of PAUD teachersis an important indicator in determining their success in participating in the Teacher Professional Education (PPG). The problem that arises is the lack of comprehensive mapping regarding the level of academic readiness of PAUD teachers, particularly in the context of implementing the PPG tryout. This study aims to analyse the academic readiness of PPG PAUD participants in 2025 based on the results of a tryout participated in by 388 respondents from various regions in Indonesia. The study population consisted of all PAUD teachers who participated in the PPG UM 2025 tryout, with a sample of 388 individuals selected through total sampling. The research method employed was a descriptive, quantitative approach with frequency distribution analysis techniques. The results showed that 76 respondents (19.59%) were in the low readiness category, 256 respondents (65.98%) in the medium category, and 56 respondents (14.43%) in the high category. These findings indicate that the majority of teachers are still at the medium level of readiness, which means the a need for further academic intervention strategies. Therefore, it is recommended that institutions that organize PPG PAUD strengthen their academic provision programs, especially in the form of clinical questions, structured tutoring, and improving pedagogical and professional competencies to support a better transition towards PPG.
