Abstract

In Indonesia, traditional social norms continue to emphasize the father as the dominant and authoritative figure in family life. However, research on fathers' involvement in children's education and the factors influencing it remains limited. This study investigates the alignment between a theoretical model of father involvement and empirical data, specifically examining the impact of religiosity, marital satisfaction, and fathers' self-efficacy on their participation in children's education. The study surveyed 393 fathers of state junior high school students in Malang, Indonesia, using four standardized instruments: the Father’s Involvement Scale, Religiosity Scale, Marital Satisfaction Scale, and Father’s Self-Efficacy Scale. Structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis confirmed a strong fit between the theoretical framework and empirical findings. Results indicate that religiosity has a direct influence on father involvement and marital satisfaction but does not significantly affect involvement indirectly through marital satisfaction. Marital satisfaction, in turn, has a significant impact on both father involvement and self-efficacy, while self-efficacy directly contributes to greater involvement in children's education. Based on these findings, schools are encouraged to actively engage fathers in educational activities to enhance their role in adolescent education. Given the study's quantitative approach, future research should consider a mixed-methods design to provide a more comprehensive understanding of father involvement in adolescent education.

Abstract

This study developed and evaluated a Child Friendly School Training Center (CFSTC) Model aimed at improving teachers’ skills in managing aggressive behavior in kindergarten children. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design, nine teachers at TK Kemala Bhayangkari 11 Tumpang underwent training and were assessed through pre- and post-tests. The results demonstrated significant improvements in teachers’ understanding of child-friendly practices. Scores for “Introduction to Child Friendly School” increased from 71.5 to 85 (t = 3.923; p = 0.001), “Types of Aggressive Behavior” from 68 to 79 (t = 4.134; p = 0.000), and “Causes of Aggressive Children” from 70 to 83 (t = 3.123; p = 0.025). Validity and reliability tests (r-count > 0.25; Cronbach’s alpha > 0.60) confirmed robust measurement. The CFSTC Model’s structured modules, group discussions, and simulations enhanced teachers’ ability to identify aggression and implement child-friendly interventions. These findings underscore the efficacy of targeted professional development in fostering safe, empathetic learning environments. By integrating child-friendly strategies, educators can more effectively address early aggressive behaviors and support socioemotional growth. This study provides evidence that a structured training approach can be instrumental in reducing aggression and improving the overall classroom climate in early childhood education.

Abstract

Kata kunci: PPL PPG Prajabatan, Profesionalisme Guru BK, Era Society 5.0 The Urgency of Pre-Service PPG PPL for Improving the Professionalism of Prospective Guidance and Counseling Teachers in the Society Era 5.0 In the era of society 5.0, the rapid development of science and technology demands Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers to continuously improve their professionalism. One of the government's efforts is through the Pre-Service Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program, which requires prospective teachers to undertake Field Experience Practice (PPL). This qualitative research with a descriptive approach aims to examine the urgency of PPL PPG Pre-Service in enhancing the professionalism of prospective BK teachers in the era of society 5.0. The results show that PPL PPG Pre-Service has a strategic role in honing the four core competencies of counselors, namely pedagogical, personal, social, and professional. Through PPL, prospective BK teachers gain real experience in providing BK services, understand the dynamics of student problems, and develop self-analysis, reflection, and evaluation skills. The guidance from lecturers and supervising teachers facilitates the reflective ability of prospective teachers in improving counseling practices. PPL also facilitates the integration of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects to produce prospective teachers who are creative, innovative, and have a high work ethic. In the era of society 5.0, PPL serves as a platform for prospective BK teachers to master digital technology and artificial intelligence in attractive BK services. Thus, PPL PPG Pre-Service prepares professional prospective BK teachers who are ready to face challenges in the field according to the times. Abstract

This study investigated Indonesian high school students’ perceptions of school Guidance and Counseling (GC) services, focusing on three interrelated dimensions: awareness, utilization, and satisfaction. While GC services are recognized as essential for supporting student development, limited research has comprehensively examined how they are perceived and accessed by students themselves. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 578 Grade 11 and 12 students in public senior high schools in Yogyakarta. Instruments adapted from Gallant and Zhao were employed, with reliability scores of α = 0.716 (awareness), α = 0.916 (utilization), and α = 0.951 (satisfaction). Statistical analyses included percentage distributions, Pearson chi-square, Mantel-Haenszel chi-square, and ordinal logistic regression. Findings revealed that although students demonstrated high awareness of GC services, variations in utilization and satisfaction were evident across grade levels. Notably, while higher awareness was associated with greater satisfaction, more frequent use was linked to lower satisfaction, indicating a potential mismatched between student expectations and the quality of services provided. These results highlighted the need for student-centered and developmentally responsive counseling services, offering implications for both national policy and international educational practices.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of reality group counseling based on the Qur'an to improve students' responsibility for prayer worship. This study used an experimental pretest-posttest one-group design. There are two types of instruments used, namely data collection instruments and experimental guides. The experimental guide consists of a reality group counseling book based on Qur'anic values, a guide for counselors, while the measuring instrument consists of a scale of responsibility for prayer worship developed from Lickona's theory. The results of the validity test using Pearson Product-Moment showed that all items had a significance of <0.05; it can be said that all items were valid with a correlation coefficient between 0.262-0.644. The results of the reliability test showed a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.856, which means that the scale of responsibility for prayer worship used was reliable. Based on the Wilcoxon test in the group, a sig. A value of 0.005 <0.05 was obtained. then there is a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest measurements, rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting H1. It can be said that group counseling based on Al-Quran values is effective in increasing students' responsibility in carrying out prayer.

Abstract

This research identified a pressing need to create specialized teaching modules for electrical topics within the science curriculum that target students’ higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Despite the recognized significance of HOTS in improving students’ educational achievements, science educators encounter obstacles when attempting to effectively teach these skills. To tackle this challenge, the study utilized a qualitative research methodology, conducting semi-structured interviews with six science teachers from diverse Malaysian schools. The primary objective was to pinpoint the necessity for developing instructional modules that enhance students’ HOTS in primary school science subjects. This study revealed four key themes arising from the needs assessment: the importance of HOTS knowledge, obstacles in teaching HOTS, effective teaching strategies, and the actual teaching of HOTS. This study underscores the critical need for enhanced professional development opportunities for teachers to effectively impart HOTS and stresses the importance of providing suitable teaching resources. By developing these tailored modules, students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills can be nurtured, paving the way for their academic and professional success. Consequently, the study’s recommendations offer valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers seeking to create impactful teaching modules that cater to students’ HOTS in primary school science subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of integrating Batak cultural values into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) incorporating expressive writing to enhance academic resilience among university students. Using a single-subject A-B-A experimental design, the research involved five final-year students, measuring changes in academic resilience before, during, and after the intervention. The culturally infused CBT sessions integrated key Batak values such as kekerabatan (kinship), hamajuon (perseverance), and hasangapon (honor) alongside expressive writing exercises. Results showed a significant improvement in academic resilience, emotional regulation, adaptive help-seeking behaviors, and cultural identity reinforcement. These findings underscore the importance of culturally relevant therapeutic interventions in fostering academic resilience. Based on these results, it is recommended that future studies explore the long-term impact of such interventions and assess their effectiveness among diverse cultural groups to enhance their broader applicability in educational and psychological settings.
