Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of reality group counseling based on the Qur'an to improve students' responsibility for prayer worship. This study used an experimental pretest-posttest one-group design. There are two types of instruments used, namely data collection instruments and experimental guides. The experimental guide consists of a reality group counseling book based on Qur'anic values, a guide for counselors, while the measuring instrument consists of a scale of responsibility for prayer worship developed from Lickona's theory. The results of the validity test using Pearson Product-Moment showed that all items had a significance of <0.05; it can be said that all items were valid with a correlation coefficient between 0.262-0.644. The results of the reliability test showed a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.856, which means that the scale of responsibility for prayer worship used was reliable. Based on the Wilcoxon test in the group, a sig. A value of 0.005 <0.05 was obtained. then there is a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest measurements, rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting H1. It can be said that group counseling based on Al-Quran values is effective in increasing students' responsibility in carrying out prayer.

Abstract

This research identified a pressing need to create specialized teaching modules for electrical topics within the science curriculum that target students’ higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Despite the recognized significance of HOTS in improving students’ educational achievements, science educators encounter obstacles when attempting to effectively teach these skills. To tackle this challenge, the study utilized a qualitative research methodology, conducting semi-structured interviews with six science teachers from diverse Malaysian schools. The primary objective was to pinpoint the necessity for developing instructional modules that enhance students’ HOTS in primary school science subjects. This study revealed four key themes arising from the needs assessment: the importance of HOTS knowledge, obstacles in teaching HOTS, effective teaching strategies, and the actual teaching of HOTS. This study underscores the critical need for enhanced professional development opportunities for teachers to effectively impart HOTS and stresses the importance of providing suitable teaching resources. By developing these tailored modules, students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills can be nurtured, paving the way for their academic and professional success. Consequently, the study’s recommendations offer valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers seeking to create impactful teaching modules that cater to students’ HOTS in primary school science subjects.

Abstract

Bullying among junior high school students is a significant issue that affects their psychological well-being and academic performance. This study aims to examine the influence of family structure on students' bullying experiences. A causal-comparative research design was applied to investigate the relationship between family structure and bullying tendencies. The population for this study consists of 189,631 junior high school students in Malang City during the odd semester of 2024/2025. The research sample comprises 1,922 junior high school students aged 13-15 years, selected randomly. Data were collected using a valid and reliable family structure questionnaire and bullying scale, with family structure categorized into (1) living with both parents, (2) living with father only, (3) living with mother only, and (4) living with guardians or other family members. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were used for data analysis. The results showed that family structure did not affect the tendency to become victims of bullying in junior high school students. This suggests that victims of bullying can emerge from any family structure. Based on the findings, it is recommended that the role of the family be strengthened to prevent students from becoming victims of bullying.

Abstract

The cultivation of reflective and critical thinking skills in elementary science education poses a difficulty, as traditional instructional techniques often restrict students' cognitive engagement and metacognitive awareness. This study seeks to examine the efficacy of problem-based learning (PBL) in improving the reflective and critical thinking abilities of fifth-grade elementary students in scientific education. This research utilized a quantitative methodology with a quasi-experimental design, namely the non-equivalent control group design. The sample comprised 90 students who were randomly allocated to experimental and control groups. The instrument employed was a test of 23 valid items, conducted as both a pre-test and a post-test. Data analysis was performed utilizing descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity assessments, n-gain analysis, and t-tests. The study's results demonstrate that the experimental group achieved markedly superior post-test scores (M = 83.91; SD = 6.32) in contrast to the control group (M = 70.24; SD = 7.15), with a significance level of p = 0.000. The n-gain value for the experimental group (0.61) was into the moderate range, whereas the control group (0.29) was classified in the low category. These findings indicate that PBL is beneficial in enhancing students' skills in problem identification, hypothesis formulation, evidence analysis, and reflective thinking. This study's originality resides in the empirical validation of PBL implementation at the primary school level, a topic that has seldom been thoroughly examined. The results suggest the need for curriculum change, pedagogical innovation, and professional development for educators in inclusive and reflective fundamental scientific education.

Abstract

Universities aim to achieve intelligent education through innovative learning methods. Students desire models to develop their skills, and this can be achieved through peer modelling with their peers. This research aims to develop a peer modelling-based digital module to enhance students' understanding of the Personality Development Practicum course, as an effort to improve the ideal personal qualities of prospective counselors. The research design uses the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects in this study are material experts (guidance and counseling lecturers), media experts (learning technology lecturers), and potential users (guidance and counseling students). The results show that the digital module is equipped with video explanations, PowerPoint, infographics, motion graphics, and peer modelling videos. Based on the validation results by material experts, media experts, and potential users, the digital module is considered valid in terms of accuracy, usefulness, attractiveness, and ease of use. Further empirical evidence is needed to support the use of the peer modelling-based digital module in developing the ideal personal qualities of prospective counselors.
