Abstract

This research focuses on the development and validation of a scale to measure the social skills of junior high school students in Indonesia. The study involved 420 students from various regions, utilizing a quantitative approach with a Likert rating questionnaire of four choices. The Rasch model was employed for analysis using Winsteps software. The item reliability index yielded a robust value of 0.80. Evaluation of item polarity across all aspects fell within the range of 0.12 to 0.78, while outfit-MNSQ values ranged from 0.12 to 1.90. Fourteen items were identified as unfit, failing to meet criteria due to Outfit MNSQ values > 1.5 and Pt Measure Correlation < 0.4, leading to their elimination. Additionally, two items with Outfit MNSQ > 1.5 were earmarked for editorial revision. The analysis revealed four items with nearly identical logit values, indicating redundancy in measurement. Consequently, one item from each pair was retained, simplifying the instrument. The study affirms the validity and reliability of the measurement instrument, indicating its suitability for assessing junior high school students' social skills.

Abstract

Academic stress not only occurs in students at school but also occurs in many college students. Several studies have shown that irrational thoughts about self-confidence and low resilience are related to high academic stress. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of resilience training to reduce academic stress in students. This study is an experimental study with a Randomized Pre-Test, Post-Test, and Follow-Up (RPPF) design. Researchers randomly divided participants into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received eight sessions of resilience training intervention for three weeks, with two to three sessions per week, each lasting 90 minutes. Both groups underwent measurements before the intervention (pre-test), after the intervention (post-test), and two weeks after the intervention (follow-up). This research instrument used an academic stress scale (α =0.842). Data analysis using Multivariate Analysis of Covariance showed that resilience training had significant effectiveness in reducing academic stress in students. The implications of further research are discussed.

Abstract

Previous studies have emphasized the influence of the school environment on students' prosocial behavior. However, few studies still concentrate on alternative mechanisms that contribute to developing students' prosocial behavior. This study aimed to investigate how moral identity plays a role as a mediator in the relationship between school climate and students' prosocial behavior in inclusive schools. A cluster random sampling technique was used to select participants. This study included 872 children attending inclusive schools in Surabaya City. The research instrument used a scale of moral identity (α=0.918), prosocial behavior (0.740), and school climate (0.889). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The study's findings indicate a positive relationship between the overall school climate and the tendency of regular students in inclusive schools to engage in prosocial activities. This relationship is influenced by the role of moral identity as a mediator. These findings enhance our understanding of the importance of moral identity and have practical implications for intervention programs aimed at improving prosocial behavior among regular students in inclusive schools.

Abstract

This research explores the relationship between anxiety over math learning, the ability of time management, and emotional support on students' academic achievement among junior high school students in Indonesia. The data collected from 120 participants is assessed within a quantitative research design where surveys were administered using the 1-5 Likert scale. The tool to be used for analysis is known as structural equation modeling, partial least square-PLS3. The results indicated that math learning anxiety negatively impacts academic achievement, while time management ability and emotional support facilitate improvement in academic achievement. Both time management ability and emotional support act as mediators in the relationship between math learning anxiety and academic performance. These results highlight the need to reduce anxiety, develop time management skills, and build emotional support to improve students' academic performance. The study provides actionable insights for educators, parents, and policymakers in providing a supportive educational environment that ensures holistic student development.

Abstract

ABSTRACTAdolescent delinquency is a social issue frequently encountered among junior high school students and can significantly impact their psychological development and future prospects. One of the key factors in preventing adolescent delinquency is the quality of communication between parents and children. This community service activity aims to enhance parents' understanding and communication skills through interactively designed training sessions. The methods employed include educational sessions, group discussions, and simulations of effective communication. The results indicate an increase in parents' awareness of the importance of empathetic and open communication, which contributes to reducing the potential for deviant behavior in adolescents. Abstract

Background: Children are often exposed to various electronic media such as smartphones, tablets, and computers. Purpose: This research aims to understand and analyze the development of elementary school-aged children in Indonesia concerning various factors: cognitive, social, emotional, identity, role, learning abilities, and environmental aspects. Method: The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to synthesize findings from multiple studies addressing these developmental factors. Cognitive development underpins learning and problem-solving skills, while social and emotional growth fosters healthy relationships. Result: The research findings reveal that children's identities and roles are shaped by familial, educational, and community influences, with the family, school, and community environments crucially impacting children's personalities and balanced development. Conclusion: Collaboration among stakeholders is essential for fostering holistic growth in children. The family environment significantly influences children's behavior, with parenting styles and values playing pivotal roles. Formal education, besides academic achievement, focuses on moral development, and teachers serve as role models, offering encouragement and creating supportive classrooms. Peer interactions enhance social skills, while media influence and mental health awareness require supervision and support. Additionally, character education and parental involvement are vital in shaping Indonesian children's holistic personalities. In conclusion, a collaborative effort among stakeholders, including families, schools, and communities, is necessary to nurture the comprehensive development of children in Indonesia, addressing cognitive, social, emotional, and environmental dimensions.

Abstract

In Indonesia, traditional social norms continue to emphasize the father as the dominant and authoritative figure in family life. However, research on fathers' involvement in children's education and the factors influencing it remains limited. This study investigates the alignment between a theoretical model of father involvement and empirical data, specifically examining the impact of religiosity, marital satisfaction, and fathers' self-efficacy on their participation in children's education. The study surveyed 393 fathers of state junior high school students in Malang, Indonesia, using four standardized instruments: the Father’s Involvement Scale, Religiosity Scale, Marital Satisfaction Scale, and Father’s Self-Efficacy Scale. Structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis confirmed a strong fit between the theoretical framework and empirical findings. Results indicate that religiosity has a direct influence on father involvement and marital satisfaction but does not significantly affect involvement indirectly through marital satisfaction. Marital satisfaction, in turn, has a significant impact on both father involvement and self-efficacy, while self-efficacy directly contributes to greater involvement in children's education. Based on these findings, schools are encouraged to actively engage fathers in educational activities to enhance their role in adolescent education. Given the study's quantitative approach, future research should consider a mixed-methods design to provide a more comprehensive understanding of father involvement in adolescent education.

Abstract

Sexual harassment is a crime that is condemned worldwide due to its negative impact. Both religions and state constitutions strictly prohibit sexual abuse. One of the most common cases of sexual abuse in Indonesia is pedophilia. This study aims to determine factors that can reduce sexual harassment behavior, the impact of sexual harassment and factors that can restore victims after experiencing sexual harassment. The research method used in writing the article is a Big Data-based systematic literature review with VOS Viewer visualization by searching for published articles according to the topic published by Google Scholar and Scopus for the last 6 years (2018-2024) with the keyword “Sexual harassment”, “Religiosity”, “Children”, “Child Sexual Abuse” and "Religiosity and Sexual Harassment" obtained 12 articles that met the criteria for research topics after going through a screening process of 500 articles. The results showed that religiosity is a factor that can reduce sexual harassment behavior and is a factor that can restore victims after experiencing sexual harassment. Sexual harassment has short-term and long-term negative impacts on children.
