Abstract

This review offers an incisive and critical appraisal of the evolution, efficacy, and limitations of global climate change protocols and international climate diplomacy, with a particular focus on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Conference of the Parties (COP) mechanisms. Anchored in the latest scientific consensus from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the paper underscores the anthropogenic causality of global warming and delineates the observed and projected ramifications of climate perturbations on ecological stability, socioeconomic systems, and geopolitical equilibriums. Through a methodical examination of landmark accords—from the legally binding architecture of the Kyoto Protocol to the voluntary, nationally determined contributions under the Paris Agreement and the transformative aspirations of the Glasgow and Dubai declarations—this review delineates the metamorphosis of climate governance from rigid legalism to adaptive multilateralism. The study interrogates the efficacy of climate finance instruments, notably the Green Climate Fund, and scrutinizes barriers to equitable technology transfer, institutional transparency, and implementation fidelity, particularly in the Global South. It also elucidates region-specific vulnerabilities with a granular analysis of South Asia and the ecologically fragile Kashmir Valley, revealing the disproportionate burdens borne by climate-fragile geographies. Moreover, it interrogates the persistent North–South dichotomy, operational inertia, and political obstructions that thwart comprehensive climate action. Finally, the review advocates for a reinvigorated climate governance paradigm premised on inclusive multilateralism, innovation-driven adaptation, and equity-oriented accountability. It concludes that transformative ambition—grounded in justice, resilience, and scientific integrity—must now supplant incrementalism to avert climate catastrophe and forge a sustainable planetary future.

Abstract

The metamorphosis of Srinagar into a Smart City represents a paradigmatic shift in the developmental discourse of the Kashmir Valley, wherein the urban sphere is increasingly envisaged as a catalyst for broader regional transformation. Conventionally, smart city initiatives have been critiqued for their technocentric orientation and metropolitan exclusivity; however, in a fragile, conflict-prone, and ecologically sensitive milieu such as Kashmir, the implications transcend the municipal boundary. This paper interrogates the urban–rural dialectic by situating Srinagar’s smart city trajectory within the wider developmental ecology of the Valley, emphasizing the multifarious intersections through which urban renewal reconfigures rural economies, governance modalities, service delivery architectures, and livelihood prospects. Through a conceptual, rather than empiricist, lens, the study delineates how infrastructural modernization, digital governance, and cultural economy initiatives in Srinagar engender ripple effects upon peripheral agrarian landscapes, artisanal production clusters, and marginalized rural habitations. The analysis foregrounds dimensions such as agricultural market integration, tele-health accessibility, skill dissemination, eco-tourism linkages, and e-governance diffusion, while simultaneously acknowledging the unevenness, fragility, and contradictions inherent in these processes. By extrapolating illustrative examples from across the Valley, the research underscores that the smartness of Srinagar cannot be meaningfully appraised in isolation, but only in relation to the degree of inclusivity and sustainability it bequeaths upon its rural hinterland. The paper ultimately argues that Srinagar’s transformation, if imbued with participatory governance, ecological prudence, and socio-cultural sensitivity, holds the potential to evolve from a narrowly urban project into a regionally integrative paradigm of smart development. Conversely, if construed merely as an infrastructural or technological spectacle, it risks reinforcing spatial and socio-economic asymmetries. Thus, the Srinagar Smart City initiative emerges simultaneously as a developmental opportunity and a conceptual crucible, where the very meaning of “smartness” in peripheral contexts is subject to redefinition.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of Third-Party Funds (TPF), Mudharabah financing, and Musyarakah financing on the profitability of Bank Muamalat Indonesia during the 2019–2024 period. The research employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the annual financial reports of Bank Muamalat Indonesia. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to test the relationship between independent variables (TPF, Mudharabah, and Musyarakah) and the dependent variable (profitability measured by Return on Equity/ROE). The findings reveal that TPF has no significant effect on profitability, indicating that the accumulation of third-party funds does not necessarily improve financial performance due to potential inefficiencies in fund management or high cost of funds. In contrast, Mudharabah financing shows a positive and significant effect on profitability, suggesting that profit-sharing investment schemes contribute effectively to income generation. Similarly, Musyarakah financing also has a positive and significant impact on profitability, emphasizing the role of partnership-based financing in enhancing returns. The study concludes that while third-party funds play an essential role in banking operations, their contribution to profitability depends on efficient utilization, whereas profit-sharing financing such as Mudharabah and Musyarakah directly strengthens financial performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Return On Assets (ROA), Net Profit Margin (NPM), and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) on stock prices of banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2019–2023 period. The research employs a quantitative approach using panel data regression. The sample was selected through purposive sampling and consists of 31 banking companies. Data was processed using EViews version 12 with the Random Effect Model (REM) approach, following a series of classical assumption tests. The results show that ROA and DER have no significant effect on stock prices, while NPM has a positive and significant effect. These findings indicate that net profit efficiency is a primary consideration for investors in evaluating the performance of banking companies in the capital market. The implications of this study can serve as input for bank management to strengthen profitability strategies in order to enhance company value in the eyes of investors.
