Abstract

Moral education is a fundamental aspect of Islamic education, aimed at developing individuals with virtuous character and integrity. Imam Nawawi's Kitab Nashaih Al-'Ibad is a classical Islamic text that provides profound insights into moral education. Understanding these insights is crucial for enhancing contemporary Islamic education. This study aims to explore and analyze the concept of moral education from Imam Nawawi's perspective as presented in Kitab Nashaih Al-'Ibad. The research employs a library research methodology, with Kitab Nashaih Al-'Ibad as the primary reference and various other books and studies on Imam Nawawi's educational perspectives as secondary references. Data was collected through thematic analysis of the primary text and comparative analysis with existing literature on Islamic and moral education. Findings, The study identifies five key principles of moral education according to Imam Nawawi: sincerity (ikhlas), humility (tawadu), patience (sabar), gratitude (syukur), and self-accountability (muhasabah). These principles are highly relevant to contemporary Islamic education, offering a holistic approach that integrates moral and academic development. Comparisons with previous studies and theories highlight the universal relevance and applicability of these principles. Conclusion, Imam Nawawi's principles provide a robust framework for moral education that can significantly contribute to the development of virtuous individuals in the modern educational context. Effective implementation requires collaborative efforts among educators, communities, and stakeholders. Recommendations: It is recommended that these principles be integrated into the curriculum, teacher training programs, and community involvement initiatives. Further research is encouraged to explore practical applications and impacts of these principles in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

Paulo Freire's humanist education emphasizes critical consciousness and the liberation of humanity from oppression. However, this approach is often criticized for being insufficiently comprehensive, as it overlooks the spiritual dimensions and the concept of adab (ethics), which are central to Islamic education. This study aims to analyze the problems within Freire's humanist education concept from an Islamic perspective, focusing on conflicts in the value of freedom, neglect of spirituality, the teacher's role in dialogue, and the ultimate goals of education. This research employs a library research methodology with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were analyzed through a critical review of relevant primary and secondary literature, including Freire’s works, Islamic educational thought, and previous studies. The findings reveal fundamental shortcomings in Freire’s educational approach from the Islamic perspective, such as a secular view of freedom, neglect of spirituality, and a lack of emphasis on adab and tawhid (monotheism). However, integrating Freire’s concept with Islamic values shows potential for creating a holistic educational paradigm. This integration harmonizes critical awareness with moral and spiritual responsibility, providing solutions to global educational challenges. Research implications/limitations: This study offers new insights into the possible integration of Freire’s and Islamic education concepts, though it is limited to theoretical exploration without empirical testing. Further studies are needed to examine its application in formal and informal educational settings. This research provides a novel perspective by combining two contrasting educational approaches: progressive humanism and value-based Islamic education. The findings are relevant for developing curricula responsive to contemporary social and spiritual challenges.

Abstract

This study explores the psychological and emotional challenges faced by Generation Z in the digital era. The investigation focuses on four critical issues affecting their well-being: digital overload, academic and career pressure, global uncertainty, and isolation and loneliness. The increasing use of technology has led to an increase in screen time and digital engagement, resulting in cognitive fatigue and emotional exhaustion. Academic expectations and a highly competitive job market contribute to stress and burnout. Economic instability, climate change, and political unrest further intensify anxiety and uncertainty about the future. Despite being the most digitally connected generation, many Generation Z individuals experience social isolation, as online interactions often fail to provide meaningful emotional support. This study identifies key patterns and interconnections among these challenges. Findings suggest that excessive digital consumption negatively impacts mental health, while societal pressures exacerbate stress levels.
