Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a growth disorder in toddlers caused by chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections. According to WHO data from 2022, Indonesia ranks fifth among countries with the highest number of stunting cases in the world. Social and economic factors, as well as feeding practices, are the main causes of stunting in toddlers. Objective: This literature review aims to examine the influence of balanced dietary patterns on the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Methods: The databases used include Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and ResearchGate. The keywords used were stunting, toddler, and dietary pattern. A total of seven relevant articles were obtained through literature searching. The selection process involved screening based on the PICO elements and the CRAAP method. Results: Inappropriate feeding practices were significantly associated with the incidence of stunting. Factors such as food type, feeding frequency, and parental involvement in feeding contributed to children's growth status. Additionally, younger maternal age, low socioeconomic status, and failure to meet recommended nutritional intake were also found to increase the risk of stunting. Conclusion: Stunting prevention should focus on healthy eating patterns, appropriate meal schedules, and adequate nutritional intake for toddlers. Parental education and collaboration between the government, community, and health sectors are essential to improve understanding of balanced nutrition and reduce stunting prevalence

Abstract

Advanced cancer patients have more complex problems. Education is one approach to support the care of advanced cancer patients. In the digital era, communication technology such as WhatsApp can be utilized as an effective means of education, given its ability to be accessed by various groups. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of WhatsApp-based online multimedia education on coping in advanced cancer patients. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group research design. Sampling this study using purposive sampling with a total of 66 people consisting of 33 interventions and 33 controls. The intervention group received a WhatsApp-based educational intervention in the form of a module and was equipped with a telephone call from the researchers for follow-up conducted for 10 days. The measuring instrument used in this study was the Brief Cope questionnaire to measure coping. This study used dependent t-test as data analysis. Result showed a significant difference in mean coping PFC and EFC before and after intervention (p value = <0.001) in the experimental group, while for the control group there was no significant difference in the mean coping of PFC (p value = 0.317) and EFC (p value = 0.305). This study suggests that WhatsApp-based education can enhance coping in patients with advanced cancer. The importance of developing educational materials tailored to the needs of advanced cancer patients.

Abstract

The background that drives this research is the results of students' mathematical problem solving abilities which are still low and there are still many students who have not reached the KKM of 65 and the use of learning models that are less varied is the reason for researchers to carry out research in class V of Almusabbihin Elementary School The objectives in this study are This study aims to determine (1) the average class value of the mathematical problem solving ability of grade V students of Almusabbihin Elementary School reaches 65. (2) The mathematical problem solving ability of students who are given the RME learning model is better than before treatment. This type of research uses experimental research methods with Pre Experimental Design One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study population was all fifth grade students of Almusabbihin Elementary School. The sample taken was 34 fifth grade students of Almusabbihin Elementary School using purposive sampling technique. Data collection instruments used math problem solving ability test instruments and observation sheets. Data analysis used, quantitative analysis of the right one-party t test. The calculation results obtained, the average class value of the mathematical problem solving ability of fifth grade students of Almusabbihin Elementary School reached KKM 65 as evidenced by the average initial score of 34.12 to 76.32 and classical learning completeness of 0% to 88.24%, there was a higher increase in postest scores than pretest scores. Students' math problem solving ability is better than before with a tcount of 12.358> ttable of 1.997. So, the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model is effective on mathematical problem solving of fifth grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Abstract

The global rise in diabetes mellitus (DM) among women of reproductive age poses significant challenges to achieving optimal exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) rates, especially in low- and middle-income countries such as Indonesia. This study aimed to examine the relationship between knowledge and experience of mothers with DM and their independence in providing EBF, addressing an urgent need for targeted intervention and policy support for this vulnerable population. An analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted at community health centers in Pekanbaru from June to November 2024, involving 98 breastfeeding mothers diagnosed with DM, recruited through convenience sampling. Structured questionnaires measured maternal knowledge, prior breastfeeding experience, and independence in EBF. The results showed that 57.1% of mothers had good knowledge and 53.1% had adequate breastfeeding experience, while 69.4% demonstrated independence in providing EBF. Bivariate analysis revealed significant relationships between knowledge and independence (p = 0.026) as well as experience and independence (p = 0.001). These findings underscore the importance of enhancing education and support for mothers with DM to improve EBF practices. It is recommended that healthcare policies and programs prioritize continuous, tailored education and counseling to empower mothers with DM and increase EBF coverage.
