Abstract

The global rise in diabetes mellitus (DM) among women of reproductive age poses significant challenges to achieving optimal exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) rates, especially in low- and middle-income countries such as Indonesia. This study aimed to examine the relationship between knowledge and experience of mothers with DM and their independence in providing EBF, addressing an urgent need for targeted intervention and policy support for this vulnerable population. An analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted at community health centers in Pekanbaru from June to November 2024, involving 98 breastfeeding mothers diagnosed with DM, recruited through convenience sampling. Structured questionnaires measured maternal knowledge, prior breastfeeding experience, and independence in EBF. The results showed that 57.1% of mothers had good knowledge and 53.1% had adequate breastfeeding experience, while 69.4% demonstrated independence in providing EBF. Bivariate analysis revealed significant relationships between knowledge and independence (p = 0.026) as well as experience and independence (p = 0.001). These findings underscore the importance of enhancing education and support for mothers with DM to improve EBF practices. It is recommended that healthcare policies and programs prioritize continuous, tailored education and counseling to empower mothers with DM and increase EBF coverage.

Abstract

The digital era has created a new landscape for the world of entrepreneurship, where environmental challenges and changes in consumer behavior require business actors, especially startups, to Innovate to create products that are not only competitive but also sustainable. The background of this research is the urgent need for business solutions that support sustainability principles and align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aims to identify strategic opportunities in the development of eco-innovative products by startups in the digital era, as well as the factors that encourage and hinder their implementation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through literature studies and in-depth interviews with several startup founders operating in the environmental and technology sectors. The results show that the integration of digital technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), e-commerce, and big data, opens up significant opportunities for the development of more efficient, personalized, and affordable eco-friendly products. However, challenges such as limited access to green financing and a lack of sustainability literacy remain major obstacles. The conclusion of this study confirms that the digital era offers significant opportunities for startups to become agents of change through eco-innovative products, provided they are able to integrate environmental values into their business models and utilize digital technology optimally.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are recognized as a critical driver of national economic growth, yet they continue to encounter persistent barriers such as limited digital literacy, restricted access to financing, and insufficient innovation capacity. These challenges highlight the urgent need for an entrepreneurial ecosystem that promotes not only economic advancement but also social empowerment and inclusiveness. This study introduces a community service initiative designed to build such an ecosystem using the Penta Helix framework, which integrates five key actors: academia, business, community, government, and media. The implementation approach was based on collaboration through training programs, mentoring sessions, and the strengthening of socio-economic networks aimed at enhancing MSME independence. The findings indicate that MSMEs demonstrated improved ability to leverage social networks for market expansion, stronger collaboration among stakeholders, and the establishment of an entrepreneurial ecosystem that is both inclusive and sustainable. Notably, the community emerged as a central element, serving as a foundation for ensuring equitable economic benefits at the grassroots level. The novelty of this study lies in integrating social dimensions into the Penta Helix model, shifting the orientation from purely economic growth to broader social sustainability. In conclusion, the synergy of business, community, and government provides a practical framework to strengthen MSME competitiveness while reinforcing social cohesion, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 8 and Goal 10.

Abstract

Background: High-risk pregnancies in women under 20 or over 35 years are commonly associated with low self-efficacy, leading to anxiety, poor coping, and inadequate childbirth readiness. Few studies have targeted interventions to directly improve self-efficacy, and mindfulness delivered through audiovisual media represents a promising yet underutilized approach to enhance psychological preparedness in this population. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of an audiovisual mindfulness intervention on self-efficacy in high-risk pregnant women preparing for childbirth. Methods: A quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test control group design was conducted among 66 third-trimester pregnant women, purposively assigned to experimental (n = 33) and control (n = 33) groups. The intervention was delivered via the MIESRA application, providing audiovisual mindfulness exercises to promote maternal–fetal bonding and psychological well-being. The experimental group received three 15-minute sessions over seven days, while the control group received standard antenatal care. Self-efficacy was measured using a validated scale and analyzed with Wilcoxon, dependent t-test, and independent t-test.  Results: The mean self-efficacy score in the experimental group increased from 63.36 (SD = 5.18) to 67.82 (SD = 3.93), while the control group showed only a slight increase from 64.33 (SD = 6.44) to 64.55 (SD = 6.14). Statistical analysis confirmed a significant improvement in the experimental group compared with controls (p = 0.012). Participants receiving mindfulness reported feeling calmer, more confident, and better prepared for childbirth. Conclusion: Audiovisual mindfulness intervention effectively improved self-efficacy among high-risk pregnant women. Integrating such tools into antenatal care may empower vulnerable mothers, foster resilience, and enhance psychological readiness for childbirth.
