Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Philosophy of Education courses on the development of critical thinking skills and character formation among Biology Education students at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. A descriptive quantitative research design was employed, with data collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 17 items measuring dimensions of critical thinking skills and character development. The questionnaire was administered to 34 third-semester students who had completed the Philosophy of Education course. The findings indicate that, overall, students demonstrated high levels of critical thinking skills and character development. The mean scores for critical thinking skills encompassed information evaluation, logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and reflective thinking, with the highest mean score observed in the ability to evaluate information critically (M = 4.12). Regarding character development, students exhibited strong outcomes in moral values, including honesty, responsibility, and cooperation, with cooperation in science learning achieving the highest mean score (M = 4.35). These results suggest that Philosophy of Education courses contribute positively to enhancing students’ critical thinking skills and fostering essential character traits that support both academic achievement and social competence. The study underscores the importance of integrating Philosophy of Education into higher education curricula to equip students not only with disciplinary knowledge but also with critical thinking abilities and character development necessary for lifelong learning and societal engagement.

Abstract

Indigenous folktales are culturally grounded resources for value and character education, yet schools often lack systematic procedures for translating narrative meaning into curriculum-aligned competencies and teachable tasks. This text-based study addresses this gap through a qualitative, document-based analysis of eleven Siulak–Kerinci folktales from Kerinci, Jambi Province, Indonesia. Using directed qualitative content analysis guided by the Pancasila Student Profile (Phase D), values were inferred from narrative episodes, character actions, and consequence sequences, then mapped to the Profile dimensions and translated into design implications for the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) in Indonesian junior secondary education. The analysis identified seven recurrent cultural values: religiosity, honesty, responsibility, tolerance, social care and mutual cooperation, work ethic, and local identity. These values align coherently with the six Profile dimensions at Phase D and provide a defensible rationale for curriculum mapping from indigenous narratives to competency-oriented learning aims. This study does not evaluate classroom implementation; proposed P5 tasks are presented as design implications rather than tested instructional guidance. Future research should examine feasibility and learning outcomes in P5 settings and strengthen reliability through inter-coder agreement procedures.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi, kreativitas,  dan literasi digital guru-guru di SMAN 3 Tebo, Kabupaten Tebo dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran digital berbasis aplikasi interaktif. Guru-guru ini merupakan mitra aktif dalam pelatihan. Kegiatan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kebutuhan akan pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif, adaptif, dan berbasis teknologi seiring dengan tuntutan Kurikulum Merdeka dan perkembangan era digital. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi lima tahapan, yaitu persiapan, pelatihan, pendampingan, evaluasi, dan tindak lanjut. Pelatihan difokuskan pada pemanfaatan aplikasi interaktif seperti Canva, PowerPoint interaktif, dan aplikasi edugame. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan guru dalam merancang dan mengimplementasikan media pembelajaran digital. Guru tidak hanya memahami penggunaan aplikasi, tetapi juga mampu menghasilkan produk media yang sesuai dengan karakteristik peserta didik dan mata pelajaran masing-masing. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap kualitas pembelajaran dan produktivitas guru dalam menyiapkan materi ajar. Penerapan teknologi melalui pelatihan ini terbukti relevan dan aplikatif bagi guru di wilayah Tebo. Sebelum diadakan pelatihan ini, 42% guru menyatakan mampu menggunakan aplikasi digital seperti Canva dan PPT interaktif. Setelahnya, 88% guru menyatakan mampu menggunakan aplikasi digital tersebut secara mandiri. Selanjutnya, sebelum kegiatan ini, sebanyak 40% guru mengintegrasikan media digital pada pembelajaran. Setelahnya, terdapat peningkatan sebesar 44%. Ke depannya, diharapkan program serupa dapat dilaksanakan kembali agar transformasi digital di lingkungan pendidikan semakin berdampak

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to explain prevention efforts for social media users to avoid confirming information and the dangers of fake news. This research uses qualitative research methods and literature studies which are based on the philosophy of Karl R Popper's falsification theory. The results of this research found that Popper's ideas were ideas that really avoided the truth of something. Objective and rational assessments are carried out when reading information on social media by paying attention to the truth and the purpose of the information presented. The research recommendation is that all social media users think critically and rationally in responding to information in cyberspace. Keywords: Falsification; Information; Social Media; Objective.

Abstract

This study examines the lexical variation of the Kerinci language across Pulau Tengah, Benik, and Jujun Villages in Keliling Danau District, Kerinci Regency, in response to linguistic diversity shaped by geographical and socio-cultural dynamics. The research addresses the question of how lexical differences manifest among these speech communities and to what extent such differences indicate dialectal variation. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study utilizes 200 basic vocabulary items based on the Morris Swadesh list, with data collected through observation, interviews, elicitation, recording, and note-taking techniques. The data were analyzed through transcription, identification, classification, and dialectometric calculation. The findings reveal that 36 out of 200 glosses exhibit lexical variation, indicating differences in form while maintaining similar meanings across the three villages. Dialectometric analysis shows a difference percentage of 16%, which falls within the “no significant difference” category (0%–20%). These results suggest that despite observable lexical variation, the Kerinci language in the three locations remains relatively homogeneous, influenced by close geographical proximity, social interaction, and shared cultural practices.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the forms and explain how to correct language errors in the online news media MetroJambi.com, the events section published in August 2025. Errors in language use can lead to ambiguity and misinterpretation in conveying information to the public. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with documentation and note-taking techniques. Words, phrases, and sentences from the news media MetroJambi.com, the events section published in August 2025, constitute the data in this study. The data for these words, phrases, and sentences were obtained from regional news articles in the MetroJambi.com events section published in August 2025. The results of the study indicate language errors at four levels: spelling, morphology, syntax, and semantics. There were 130 errors in spelling, 109 errors in morphology, 133 errors in syntax, and 129 errors in semantics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan bahasa gaul terhadap kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia formal di kalangan mahasiswa Universitas Jambi melalui media sosial. Fenomena penggunaan bahasa gaul yang semakin meluas dalam interaksi digital mendorong perlunya kajian empiris mengenai dampaknya terhadap keberlangsungan bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan teknik survei dan melibatkan 241 responden mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia. Instrumen penelitian diuji menggunakan uji validitas, reliabilitas, uji normalitas, dan homogenitas. Analisis data dilakukan dengan regresi linear sederhana melalui IBM SPSS Statistics 27. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat penggunaan bahasa gaul pada mahasiswa berada pada kategori tinggi, sementara kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia formal tetap berada pada kategori baik. Seluruh instrumen dinyatakan valid dan reliabel serta memenuhi asumsi analisis. Namun, hasil uji regresi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bahasa gaul tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia formal (sig. > 0,05), sehingga Ho diterima dan Ha ditolak. Dengan demikian, penggunaan bahasa gaul di media sosial tidak secara langsung menurunkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menggunakan bahasa Indonesia formal, selama penggunaannya tetap disesuaikan dengan konteks komunikasi.
