Abstract

Waste processing, especially organic waste, which in practice is still not optimal in Indonesia. One method of processing organic waste is using eco enzymes, which are made by fermenting vegetable and fruit waste combined with water and sugar. The raw materials for making eco enzymes vary and have different characteristics so they have high potential to be used in various fields. This research aims to examine the properties of organoleptic eco enzymes their raw materials and their application to human requirements. This study used an experimental method by repeating twice for each raw material including vegetables, a mixture of fruit peels (mango, pineapple, durian), pineapple peel, banana peel, and orange peel. Then the eco enzyme data is analyzed for characteristics based on parameters such as color, aroma, taste, and pH. According to the findings, the eco enzyme has a distinct brown color that ranges from light brown to dark brown, the aroma and taste produced show from very sour and smelly to a slightly sour and characteristic smell, and than the pH levels range from 2.98 to 3.50. The characteristics that have been analyzed organoleptic in this study indicate that the eco enzymes produced are very good, namely brown color, sour aroma, slightly doormat taste, and a pH value of 4. Eco enzymes are used in various fields such as household needs as cleaning fluids, the environment as a wastewater purifier, health is used to improve well water quality, and agriculture as a fertilizer and plant disinfectants

Abstract

After the enactment of SEMA No. 3/2018, the issue of unregistered polygamous validation has become a new polemic in religious courts. Decision No. 130/Pdt.G/2020/Ms.Bna and No. 311/Pdr.P/2022/PA.Bjb granted the application for unregistered polygamous validation, thus raising a question, what kind of legal considerations underlie the judges to oppose SEMA No. 3/2018? This study examines the consideration of granting the validation of unregistered polygamy by judges in the two decisions above to find out the typology of Islamic legal thinking in them. This research is a normative legal research with a case approach. The results showed that the judges used the legal doctrine of previous scholars as the basis for granting the application for the validation of unregistered polygamy, thus reflecting a traditional style of thinking. This thinking is evident when: 1) The judge based the validation of the applicant's second marriage only on the validity of the unregistered marriage; 2) The judge did not consider the conditions for the permissibility of polygamy due to emergency conditions; and 3) The judge also did not explore the potential power relations in the polygamy permit from the first wife which allowed for coercion. This research shows that the traditionalism of Islamic legal thought is used by judges to counter the policy of the Supreme Court Circular that has taken effect.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how the preferences of Muslim consumers in Cirebon toward halal-certified products are influenced by the prevailing social, cultural, and religious values within their communities. Using a socio-anthropological approach and the theory of innovation adoption, this research examines the social processes shaping halal consumption decisions and how halal products are selected not only for religious reasons but also as expressions of social identity. The research employs a qualitative method with a mini ethnographic approach, including in-depth interviews with consumers, participant observation, and documentation in both urban and rural areas of Cirebon. The key findings reveal that families, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), and religious organizations play significant roles as agents of change in promoting the adoption of halal products. Moreover, innovation characteristics such as observability and trialability emerge as critical factors in encouraging acceptance, especially when supported by trusted community or religious figures. The novelty of this study lies in uncovering that preferences for halal products are not solely driven by individual religious consciousness, but also by social pressure and a desire to maintain collective Muslim identity in Cirebon. Academically, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of innovation adoption dynamics within religious and cultural contexts and offers a new perspective on halal certification as a symbolic marker of morality and identity. It also provides a theoretical and practical foundation for developing more culturally contextualized halal education strategies.

Abstract

Abstract— Indonesia is one of the regions that frequently experiences earthquakes, and the occurrence of earthquakes can impact infrastructure damage.  The main focus for buildings that can withstand earthquakes is materials with high ductility.  One way to increase the strength of a building structure is by adding braces.  With the use of bracing, the performance of the building can be improved.  The bracing frame is a steel structural frame added diagonally to the building frame system.  It functions as a brace to withstand lateral earthquake forces.  This research was conducted to analyze the comparison between modeling a building structure without bracing, X bracing type, and single diagonal bracing type, in terms of displacement values, shear forces, and the connections used.  The method used in this research is the planning analysis method focused on the comparison of steel structures to determine the structural response that occurs in each modeling.  Based on the analysis results conducted on each structural modeling, it was found that the SRBK with X bracing produced smaller displacement values compared to the other three models, with displacement values of 64.84 mm (X direction) and 45.92 mm (Y direction).  This indicates that the SRBK with X bracing has better stability compared to the other models when subjected to seismic forces. Keywords — Base Shear, Earthquake, Displacement, Concentric Braced Frame System, Steel Structure Abstrak— Indonesia merupakan salah satu wilayah yang kerap mengalami kejadian gempa bumi, terjadinya gempa bumi dapat berdampak pada kerusakan infrastruktur. Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia, defined as blood cholesterol levels exceeding 200 mg/dL, is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Traditional Indonesian medicinal plants, such as Javanese chili (Piper retrofractum) and lemon (Citrus limon), have long been recognized for their potential lipid-lowering properties. This study aimed to scientifically evaluate the hypocholesterolemic effect of a combined P. retrofractum and C. limon extract in a hypercholesterolemic rat model. Thirty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to seven groups: a normal control, a negative control (Na-CMC), a positive control (simvastatin 0.018 mg/200 g BW), a scientific herbal formula (0.18 g/200 g BW), and three treatment groups receiving P. retrofractum and C. limon in ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 2:1. Hypercholesterolemia was induced using a cholesterol-cholate-thiouracil (CCT) mixture alongside a high-fat diet. Total cholesterol levels were quantified using the Cholesterol Oxidase-Peroxidase Aminoantipyrine (CHOD-PAP) method. After 21 days of treatment, all P. retrofractum and C. limon-treated groups demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in total cholesterol compared to the negative control (p <0.05). Notably, the 1:1 and 1:2 ratios of P. retrofractum to C. limon yielded the most substantial cholesterol reductions (44% and 43%, respectively), comparable to the scientific herbal formula and superior to simvastatin (30%). In contrast, the 2:1 ratio showed a comparatively lower reduction (38%), suggesting a potential inhibitory effect of excessive P. retrofractum on C. limon's lipid-lowering properties. These findings collectively highlight the promising potential of optimized P. retrofractum and C. limon combinations, particularly at 1:1 and 1:2 ratios, as effective natural interventions for managing hypercholesterolemia.

Abstract

The fruit of Pandanus tectorius, commonly known as screw pine or sea pandan, contains various secondary metabolites with significant therapeutic potential but remains underutilized in clinical applications. This review summarizes findings from 2014 to 2025 regarding its phytochemical composition and pharmacological effects. Sixteen bioactive compounds have been identified, including pandanusin A, bergapten, scoparone, scopoletin, several lignans, isoamericanin A, kaempferol, chrysin, phenolic acids, betulinic acid, and β-sitosterol. These constituents demonstrate antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, and anticancer activities. Mechanistic actions include inhibition of alpha-glucosidase, reduction of oxidative stress, and induction of cytotoxicity in cancer cells. The ethyl acetate fraction, in particular, exhibits strong activity against HeLa cells. Novel delivery systems, such as nanoemulsions, are being explored to enhance solubility and bioavailability. Additionally, preclinical studies suggest roles in immune modulation, wound healing, and pain relief. Although promising, further clinical validation and formulation standardization are needed. This review highlights the potential of P. tectorius fruit as a candidate for evidence-based phytotherapeutic development.

Abstract

Atherosclerosis, a leading cause of cardiovascular disease, is closely related to dyslipidemia. This study evaluated the cardioprotective effects of red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) extracted using a Natural Deep Eutectic Solvent (NADES) on lipid profiles and the risk of atherosclerosis in rats induced with an atherogenic diet and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Thirty male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into five groups: normal control, negative control, positive control (Simvastatin), and two treatment groups receiving red ginger extract at 25 mg/kg and 50 mg/kg body weight (BW). After 24 days of treatment, the 25 mg/kg BW dose significantly reduced total and LDL cholesterol while increasing HDL levels compared with the negative control (p < 0.05), showing comparable effects to Simvastatin. The 50 mg/kg BW dose did not significantly reduce total and LDL cholesterol but produced the highest HDL level. All treatment groups showed a significantly lower Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) than the negative control, with the lowest AIP in the 50 mg/kg BW group. These findings demonstrate the cardioprotective potential of red ginger extracted with NADES as a natural, environmentally friendly approach to preventing dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis.
