Abstract

Pregnancy is a life process experienced by women. It leads to physical, mental, and social changes in the mother. Pregnant women need to adapt to these changes throughout pregnancy. This study aims to determine the relationship between husband's support and the adaptability of pregnant women. This is a quantitative study using a descriptive-correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 157 pregnant women. Univariate analysis was presented in frequency distribution tables, while bivariate analysis used Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The adaptability of pregnant women in terms of physiological, self-concept, role function, and interdependence, as well as husband’s support, were categorized as good. A significant relationship was found between husband's support and the adaptability of pregnant women, specifically in physiological adaptation (p-value 0.000), self-concept (p-value 0.008), role function (p-value 0.002), and interdependence (p-value 0.000). Husband's support has a significant relationship with pregnant women’s adaptability in terms of physiological adjustment, self-concept, role function, and interdependence. Pregnant women can better adapt to pregnancy-related changes when they receive strong support from their husbands.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted various sectors and may trigger a decrease in quality of life (QoL), so resilience is urgently needed. This study aimed to analyze the role of resilience in the QoL of individuals during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in East Jakarta, Indonesia. An explanatory sequential mixed methods study was conducted with a cross-sectional design. The QoL was measured using the Indonesian-HRQoL on 300 respondents through multistage cluster sampling. The explanatory qualitative approach involved Focus Group Discussions and in-depth interviews. A Cox regression was used to analyze the quantitative data. The proportion of poor QoL was 26.30%. Poor resilience (individual, family, and community) contributed to poor QoL during the pandemic. Realistic perceptions determined the role of individual resilience in QoL concerning gratitude, sincerity, patience, mutual reinforcement, accepting circumstances, implementing health protocols, cognitive emotion regulation, adaptability, and optimism. The age of family decision-makers, social support, and self-control determined the role of individual resilience in QoL. The role of community resilience in mental-emotional disorders and QoL was determined by the stability of the education system, health system, political/government system, and pandemic management system.

Abstract

Adolescence is a period in the span of human life that is most critical. The developmental task of adolescents in the age range of 11-20 years is to achieve self-identity. Adolescents can be given stimulation with therapeutic group therapy (TGT) and family psychoeducation (FPE) to improve their self-identity. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of giving therapeutic group therapy (TGT) and family psychoeducation (FPE) on increasing adolescent self-identity. Quasi-experimental research with pre-posttest with control group design. The sample is 32 people with purposive sampling technique which is divided into two groups. The intervention group 1 was given TGT and FPE while the intervention group 2 was only given TGT. Data analysis used paired t-test and independent sample t-test. The results showed that there were significant differences between the 1st and 2nd intervention groups in terms of cognitive and language (p value = 0.004), emotional and psychosocial (p value = 0.041), talent and creativity (p value = 0.011). There was a significant difference in self-identity between the 1st and 2nd intervention groups (p value = 0.004). Therapeutic group therapy (TGT) and family psychoeducation (FPE) improve the ability of adolescent self-identity. Adolescent therapeutic group therapy can be carried out in the setting of health services in the community as a form of mental health nursing service and can also be applied in community service activities.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder that requires long-term care and treatment. The treatment requires caregivers who may come from the family. A caregiver's daily tasks can be overwhelming, leading to psychosocial problems. This study aims to identify the effectiveness of psychosocial adaptation interventions in overcoming psychosocial problems in family caregivers of schizophrenic patients. This study used a systematic review approach. The literature search was sourced from five databases: Wiley Online Library, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, EMBASE, and Sage Journals. The keywords used were family caregiver, schizophrenia patient, psychosocial adaptation, and psychosocial problem. The results of a literature search obtained 448 articles then were screened with the criteria of articles published in 2018-2023, open access, full-text articles, original articles with a randomized controlled trial study design, discussing psychosocial adaptation interventions and psychosocial problems in schizophrenic family caregivers, and English. The results of the article screening obtained six articles, and critical appraisal was carried out using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Randomized Controlled Trials. All of them were included in grade A ( 90%). Based on the results, psychosocial adaptation interventions effectively dealt with family caregivers' psychosocial problems, including signs of depression, anxiety, stress, self-stigma, psychological burden, emotions, feelings of worthlessness, and powerlessness. Therefore, psychosocial adaptation interventions for schizophrenia family caregivers could be conducted comprehensively by telephone or spiritual approach, involving direct contact with patients, families, and communities. With optimal involvement by family caregivers by focusing on positive aspects and goals that the family caregiver wants to achieve, the role of accompanying the care and treatment of schizophrenic patients can be achieved.

Abstract

Purpose: Early childhood development is crucial for psychosocial growth, particularly in cognitive and language domains. In resource-limited areas, health promotion through community-based stimulation can bridge service gaps. A community-based approach involving parents and community health workers (CHWs) can effectively promote and prevent health issues in the community. Program description: A structured intervention using therapeutic group therapy (TGT) was implemented for toddlers aged 1–2 years in Batu Tulis Village, South Bogor, in December 2024. Implementation process: The program involved collaboration among mental health nursing students, mothers, health cadres, and local health workers. Activities focused on enhancing cognitive and language abilities. The intervention consisted of 30 to 45-minute stimulation sessions facilitated by mental health nursing students. Outcomes and observations: Improvements were observed in children's vocabulary, understanding of basic concepts, and social interaction. The evaluation was conducted through qualitative observation, structured interviews with parents, and the use of child development indicators based on the standards of the Indonesian Ministry of Health. Parents reported that their children's communication and independence in daily routines had increased. Implications for health workers: The case highlights the vital role of community health actors and mental health professionals in promoting early childhood development through straightforward and replicable interventions. This program is relevant for integration into primary health services and posyandu activities as part of the community's promotive and preventive strategy. Conclusion: Community-based cognitive and language stimulation intervention can potentially support young children's psychosocial development.
