Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students. The research method employed was an experimental design with pre-test and post-test control group. The students were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group illustrating the comparison between the experimental and control groups before and after the treatment. An instrument for testing mathematical problem-solving abilities was used to collect data before and after the treatment. The results of data analysis showed a significant improvement in mathematical problem-solving abilities in the experimental group after the implementation of the CPS learning model. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Creative Problem Solving learning model effectively enhances the mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students. These findings have positive implications for the development of the mathematics curriculum in junior high schools by emphasizing the importance of integrating learning models that encourage creativity and analytical thinking. Additionally, the results of this research can serve as a foundation for educators and policymakers in designing more innovative teaching strategies to enhance the quality of mathematics education at the junior high school level.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the effectiveness of synchronous and asynchronous learning modalities and examines the mediating role of reflection on learning outcomes in fully online Indonesian higher education. Methods: Using a mixed-methods case study approach, data were collected through questionnaires (28 statements) and semi-structured interviews from 20 third-year students at a university in Cirebon, Indonesia. Participants were purposively selected based on completion of technology literacy courses and one semester of experience with both learning modalities. Qualitative data from one lecturer supplemented student perspectives. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. Results: Asynchronous learning demonstrated high effectiveness in fostering critical thinking (77%), self-paced learning (85%), and draft revision opportunities (88%). Synchronous learning showed strong preference for immediate feedback (71%) but faced significant technical challenges, with 90% reporting audio problems and 65% experiencing delayed engagement. High neutrality in perceived skill improvement indicated uncertainty about comparative effectiveness. Interviews revealed 60% preferred synchronous learning despite technical obstacles, while 40% preferred asynchronous learning for flexibility. Novelty: This study introduces a dual reflection pathway framework explaining how learning modalities activate distinct cognitive processes. Asynchronous learning operates through deliberate reflection via a three-stage mechanism (generalization, monitoring, refinement) with documented iterative cycles, while synchronous learning facilitates spontaneous reflection through immediate social presence. This framework advances theoretical understanding of reflection's mediating role in online learning effectiveness within the Indonesian context.

Abstract

Learning assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic is a service to the community, as one of the efforts to implement the Tridharma of University. The implementation of learning carried out by the school during the COVID-19 pandemic uses online or online methods through whatApp groups, google meet and zoom. However, most students complained that they did not understand during the learning process. Especially in mathematics. Where in a long period of time, some students at school think that mathematics is a difficult subject. This subject is a frightening specter for students in most schools. Not only in Kadumula village, but in various regions throughout Indonesia. For this reason, various efforts need to be made to overcome the problem of learning difficulties. Therefore, the authors held mentoring activities for understanding mathematical concepts for high school students. The learning mentoring method used is to provide offline learning assistance, namely students and students carry out the learning and teaching process directly and face to face. This learning assistance is carried out in small groups consisting of 3-6 people. Study assistance is located in the home of one of the students. The stages of mentoring implementation are 1) problem observation, 2) activity planning, 3) activity schedule preparation 4) mentoring implementation, 5) evaluation stage.

Abstract

Studies on idealism, realism, pragmatism, and existentialism in education often remain descriptive, leaving their implications for managing learning in Islamic educational institutions insufficiently operational and difficult to evaluate. This study aims to (1) analyze the epistemological and pedagogical characteristics of the four philosophical streams, (2) examine their implications for learning management functions—planning, organizing, leading, and controlling—and (3) formulate an applicable integrative framework from the perspective of Islamic education management. The method is qualitative library research using a critical-comparative review, employing concept reduction, thematic categorization, and argumentative synthesis. The findings propose an alignment matrix of goals–process–assessment–school culture: idealism strengthens value orientation, realism emphasizes evidence and measurability, pragmatism structures meaningful learning experiences, and existentialism safeguards learners’ agency and responsibility within ethical boundaries.
