Abstract

This study aims to estimate the fishing effort for skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) landed at Sadeng Coastal Fishing Port, Yogyakarta, under three management conditions: Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY), Maximum Economic Yield (MEY), and Open Access Equilibrium (OAE), using the Fox model. The Fox model includes a key variable that helps balance ecological sustainability with economic profitability, ensuring the long-term viability of both the fishery and the livelihoods it supports. The skipjack tuna assessed in this study were caught using purse seines in the Indian Ocean south of Yogyakarta. Catch and fishing trip data from 2015 to 2021 were analyzed using the Fox bioeconomic model, a development of the Gordon-Schaefer model. The research was conducted from March to May 2022. Under MSY conditions, the estimated catch (CMSY) was 493,012 kg with an effort (EMSY) of 170 trips per year, yielding an annual profit of IDR 4,768,675,442. Under MEY conditions, the estimated catch (CMEY) was 474,424 kg with an effort (EMEY) of 127 trips, resulting in a higher annual profit of IDR 5,071,245,038. Under OAE conditions, the estimated catch (COAE) was 337,761 kg with an effort (EOAE) of 363 trips per year. Based on the Fox model, the current fishing effort is at 70% of EMSY, indicating that the skipjack tuna fishery in this area is not overfished. Abstract

Purse seine fishermen in Kutaraja Oceanic Fishing Port, Banda Aceh, face various socio-economic and environmental challenges that affect the sustainability of their fishing activities. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors influencing the resilience of these fishermen in facing such challenges. A quantitative approach was employed through a survey method, and data were collected from 100 purse seine fishermen using structured questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with multiple linear regression models. The findings show that income and social support significantly affect fishermens resilience, with p-values of 0.002 and 0.015 (p 0.05), respectively. Meanwhile, education and environmental conditions have less influence, indicated by p-values of 0.089 and 0.122 (p 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R) is 0.68, suggesting that 68% of the variance in fishermens resilience can be explained by these four variables. The practical implications of this research highlight the importance of empowering fishermen through enhanced access to education, skills training, and social infrastructure development to strengthen their resilience in dealing with environmental and economic changes in the fisheries sector. The study concludes that economic and social support systems are key drivers in improving fishermens adaptive capacity. Keywords:ResiliencePurse seineFishermenEnvironmentalBanda Aceh

Abstract

Financial literacy encompasses objective knowledge, personal skills, and individual expertise in managing and making personal financial decisions. With the increasing complexity of financial instruments, numerous studies indicate that individuals often lack adequate information and understanding of fundamental financial principles. This study aims to examine the influence of financial literacy, financial technology, risk perception, and locus of control on investment decisions, with education level as a moderating variable. Using a quantitative methodology and purposive sampling method, this study finds that a better understanding of financial literacy, effective use of fintech, appropriate risk perception, and a strong internal locus of control can lead to improved investment decisions. The findings highlight that enhanced financial education and the integration of financial technology are crucial for supporting more effective investment choices, thereby expanding the community’s investment knowledge and skills.

Abstract

Purpose — This study aims to examine the relationship between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosures and profitability, with firm size as a moderating variable.Method — This study employs a quantitative approach using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) techniques. The sample consists of 52 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2017 to 2021.Result — We found that ESG disclosure has a significant negative effect on profitability, using ROA as a proxy. Additionally, company size moderates the relationship between ESG disclosure and ROA profitability.Practical implications — The study implies that disclosing corporate ESG activities incurs relatively high costs, which may reduce ROA in the short term. However, large companies are likely to have access to capital and resources that can help overcome ESG-related costs and ultimately increase ROA in the long term.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital payment systems has made e-wallets increasingly important in the financial technology sector. This study examines the influence of perceived usefulness and cashback reward programs on e-wallet user satisfaction, with e-wallet engagement as a mediating variable. Using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach, data were collected from 300 e-wallet users through purposive sampling. The results indicate that perceived usefulness (β=0.137, p<0.05) and cashback reward programs (β=0.236, p<0.001) significantly influence e-wallet engagement. E-wallet engagement significantly affects user satisfaction (β=0.287, p<0.001), and perceived usefulness directly influences satisfaction (β=0.362, p<0.001). The mediation analysis reveals that e-wallet engagement partially mediates the relationship between both independent variables and user satisfaction. The findings suggest that e-wallet providers should focus on enhancing perceived usefulness and designing attractive reward programs while maintaining high user engagement to drive satisfaction.
